Epic 4G Touch @ Best Buy and Radio Shack

I spent like 2-3 hours yesterday trying to pre order this phone, none of the Sprint stores near me (like 4 stores) are taking pre orders... so I call into the Sprint "premier" sales line and try to order it over the phone, and they still can't do that! It's actually really sad to me that I can't easily pre order one of their new devices in an easy manner... and I'm a 7+ year customer with a great account record!

It's ******ed how this is going down, you'd think they don't want to sell the darned things. I've called store after store, even been told by one store they refuse to sell me one off contract, what kind of nonsense is that?

Samsung must be content, because after the failure of the original EPIC seems like they are putting in even less effort for this phone.

Sprint can't fail if they never even try to begin with!

It's a shame that the sales reps don't even know about the phone though. When I used to work for Sprint I was always researching new phones, and keeping up with the latest information.

People who are preordering, I really doubt you have to do this. I would suggest that Best Buy and Radio shack will all have the phones on the 16th. There should be plenty to go around. 95% of people have no idea this phone is even coming out. Then 1/2 of the 5% are going to say it's too big anyway...leaving plenty for those of us who want one. They probably won't even advertise the phone.

Wait until Sprint get's a handle on this in the next week or so...then pre order if you want. The question still remains will Best Buy have this phone. It's so much eaiser to get it from them. No mail in rebate BS. Personally I can't stand Sprint Stores.

Sprint stores don't have mail in rebates any more. It's instant rebate now for any device over $150.

I agree with you about Best Buy, that's where I'd rather buy the phone from. Their insurance also doesn't have a deductible, which is another reason for me.

Wow, I didn't know that. Does Sprint's TEP cover lost/stolen? Water damage?

Yes, they cover water damage and lost/stolen phones! Sprint insurance covers anything and everything. Its the most comprehensive insurance you can get, IMO. 100 dollar deductable. Ive used it twice... both times they had a replacement on my door step in less than 24 hrs. I put in my claim at around 3 or 4 pm, since they used FedEx Priority shipping, it was there by 10am. One of they times, I was on vacation, and they had the phone sent to my hotel the very next day. I couldn't be more pleased with Sprints insurance plan. A+

RELLLY??? Well heck, if that's the case I'll just pre-order next week. Might as well, right?

Even if you order and purchase from Best Buy, you have 30-days (or 15) to call Sprint and add the insurance. The other bonus to getting at Sprint is that they can swap over phone numbers for you. ;)

We'll try and keep this on topic, but yes it's good. I smashed my EVO screen and they replaced it in the store at no charge and no deductable.

Cell Phone Specials
Samsung Epic 4G for Sprint - Wirefly.com

No I still think it will be free. it will be on 3 carriers and there are more new phones coming later this year they will fire sale it to get rid of it.

With all due respect, you know the name of the game. If you want the latest, you're going to pay to play. There's always something new coming out..of course there is. Up until now there has been nothing worthy of trading in the EVO 4G on. EVO 3D...don't bore me. Motorola...blah..zzzz. The Epic Touch is finally the BIG upgrade most of us have been waiting for. Faster processor, much better (and slightly larger) screen, pretty slick features, much lighter, much thinner, better speaker phone, gorilla glass, the list goes on. Bottom line that's a pretty freekin huge leap forward from the EVO 4G.

With that said, there are phones coming...yes. But even if we get another phone in the next 3-6 month, it's only going to be "slightly" better. It's like buying a 2011 BMW M5 with 500 hp and 20 inch wheels. Now imagine in 2012 they keep the body style the same but bump it to 600 hp and add 21 inch wheels. Not worthy of trading in. The next Nexus may be cool, but we'll all be rocking the 'touch' for month of speculation. We know how that road goes; "within".

Sorry to hear that, I went to the nearest corporate sprint store nearest me on Thursday (the 1st) and was able to pre-order right away. It might have also been helpful that I was being helped by one of the managers.

It is sad that Sprint is so hit or miss when having any interaction at the stores or over the phone. I think that is why Sprint gets such a bad rap.

Anway, I still haven't heard anything about Best Buy yet but I got somer Rewardzone credit and a Gift Card burning in my pocket right now...

I know this is about Best Buy and Sprint stores. I have purchased my last five phones at Best Buy. Finally, I got ticked-off paying California's ridiculous tax on the full price of the phone. (That's right, you buy the phone for $200 but you pay the retail tax on the $540 - $600 full retail on top end phones. BTW, Best Buy increases, the retail price even above Sprint, so you pay even more tax with Best Buy.)

So I went with Wirefly for this one. If the phone is broken or doesn't work, I just take it to Sprint and replace it because I have the full equipment protection.

I get the phone for $150 at Wirefly (+ $8 for second-day shipping), I save at least $42 in tax, so I'm already ahead by $85. Then, I used my girlfriend's BofA credit card, and I eventually get another $50 refunded. So, so long Best Buy and Sprint. In the end, I pay $108 for my upgrade. Can't beat that.
