Root Cracked my screen, trying to access disk drive on laptop....

This is my first post here...So heyyy everyone.

I cracked my screen (closed the car trunk on it) at first the screen was all white with the back light on, now it is black with the backlight on. I can not see anything besides cracks on the bottom right hand corner.
If someone calls me I can answer the call by swiping up, I can blindly make a call by touching the screen where the "phone" option is then again for "dial"(only to the last number in my call log) Volume buttons work, notification lights work, everything seems to be fine except the nice cracked black screen.
I am waiting on my replacement screen to come in the mail. But in the meantime:
-is there any way of "forcing" my phone into disk drive mode, it is currently defaulted to charge only.
-is it possible to view my incoming text messages from my laptop (i swear ive heard my text ringtone more since this happened then the entire time Ive had this phone)
-I used revolutionary to root the phone. IF I decide to do a TEP replacement would I be able to unroot without being able to connect to my laptop as a diskdrive?

Any help is greatly appreciated. 2 days of no phone, Im going crazy.

Welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

First, if you can't see anything on the screen, how would anyone know if you are rooted or not? Can you see the HBoot screen when you turn the phone off.

You don't necessarily need your computer to transfer those files for S-On and the PCIMG file. You should be able to rename the files and then copy them and put them on the root of your sd card after directly downloading them to your phone. Use something like es file explorer to do this. But if can't see the screen.........well:thinking:

Others may have some input, so...........:)

YA... dunno man... if ya cant see the screen, the only way I know of to access the sd, is to plop it in a computer with a card reader....

Hope ya figure it out...

both andy and team are right if you cant see your screen you will not have much luck doing anything including downloading files from the internet that may help do some of the things you wish. I know MyPhoneExplorer will show me all my text, incoming calls, emails when I am connected to it on my phone. however this is somthing that needs to be done before you can not see the screen. When the phone is connected to the computer the only thing you can access is the SD Card. You cannot Access the internal drive or memory. So the best solution for you is to pop out the sd card and access it from your computer via an adapter.

Best of Luck

As long as you had debugging on you can use ADB to push the files to the sdcard and then reboot to hboot to flash the files required to unroot your phone. The files necessary to just run adb on your pc can be found in the Unrooting for Service thread in the Essentials sticky. The commands will be a little different. If you want to try and do it that way, I can get the commands set up for you. Let me know. Otherwise, using a card reader would be the best option to get the files on the card.

i believe you can just log into your online sprint acct to view your text messages, mms and pic mail.

What!? lol How does that work? I havent seen an option for that before....

That would be an excellent option for when I have no cell signal... I do most texting thru google voice, cuz I always have either wifi or 3g, but a lot of ppl dont know my gv # and send messages to my sprint #, and I'm often out of cell range for days at a time, but DO have wifi.

Actually I stand corrected. You can check your pic mail, video messages and mms online with sprint since its saved there for 60 days after you get it but not your sms sorry about that:eek:

If you could help with the commands that would be great!
Hopefully my new screen gets here tomorrow and i wont even need to go through the whole unrooting process...
And thank you everyone for the responses.. I couldn't answer sooner because, oh yes thats right, I smashed my phone in a trunk  And of course the cable company is backed up 2 weeks (thanks hurricane irene) and i dont even have phone/cable/internet in my new apartment yet.

You know, I remember seeing the option to send texts from the online site just after I got my evo. I was going through sprints site reading the online tutorials they had and came across it. Perhaps they removed it?

Nope, its still there. I checked that out last night but it doesnt have an option to see messages received before the portal was open.
I even emailed HTC and someone responded saying I can put the sd in my laptop and if I cant do that Im s*** outta luck :(
And to think, I threw my sd adapter out last week when I was packing and was saying "oh ill never need this" haha.

:( Irony isn't much fun.

Well, I think that sd card readers are fairly inexpensive... :/

It really is pretty easy to repair your screen and would probably be a good idea before you mess up your phone worse. I have replaced both mine and my daughter's screen all ready. Just the digitized screen, but I ordered them through eBay for less than $20 each, free shipping. Then I followed a how to video on line. Hope it goes just as smoothly for you..... :D

Sorry about the delayed response. I will get the command together and PM you. Do you have another phone that the sdcard can go into to hook up to the pc? That might be an option as well. In the mean time, I will get them together. It will be later this afternoon or tonight before I can send them to you though. You will need to download the first zip file from the Warranty Service OP so that you have adb installed on your pc.
