HP Touchpad On Android

been looking for touchpad everywhere/ no luck
where did u purchase your tablet (online/retail store)

I originally bought it from B&N...but that got canceled

I luckily just found this site HP TouchPad Web OS 3.0 Tablet 16GB and ordered one for $135.90 (it is marked up a little bit, but you can't ask for much more when getting a last minute deal)

I will cross my fingers :p

I just purchased two. The store info says the phones can be answered between 9am and 6pm EST. I am thinking in a half-hour I will know if my orders will be filled.

The site does say they still have some in stock. Not a bad price for the last minute deal.

One big question is how's watching movies and surfing the net on the TouchPad? As there's not much apps...this would be the primary usage of the TouchPad. If any of you have used another tablet...please compare.

I have to say the sound is excellent on the Touchpad! Really good clear quality for both music and talk radio/podcasts. Started watching The Incredibles on BBC iPlayer's website last night and was impressed with the smoothness of the picture, even while streaming over my very slow wifi, and again the sound quality was fantastic. Not watched a movie that has been stored on the device yet, that's one to do tonight, but so far I'm very impressed and I can't see that changing.

Web browsing is good, don't own an android tablet myself (yet) so can't really compare but to me it seems to be just as capable. Flash works perfectly (as shown with the iPlayer website). Only problem is "tabbed" browsing, it is possible using WebOS' card system, but to make sure it continues loading in the background you have to wait for the card to start properly, it maybe only a second or so but it might start to annoy someone if they like to open a lot of tabs to browse later.

I second that web browsing is great. I prefer it over Android at times. I can't vouch for the sound as the volume rocker on my Touchpad is busted and I'm waiting for HP to ship me a replacement unit. It's supposed to be in today, but with the shortages I can't see how they could make that happen. With no volume (or blaring volume) I haven't tried playing back any media.

If I see one on sale again, I'll probably snatch one up just to give as a Christmas gift, but maybe not. I showed mine to my brother and he absolutely hated it. He said that he wants to see a shortcut to every single one of his apps right there on his desktop just by default. I asked why he needs to see all of that if you're not interacting with those apps. Doesn't it make more sense to see just the apps you're actively using and you can switch back and forth between them? That was my argument. I don't need to see all the apps I'm not using. He claimed the entire design of WebOS was a huge fail. I don't think he'd appreciate a TouchPad as gift.

I bet your bro has an iPhone :p haha He's just too used to iOS. I don't think he'll appreciate the gift either.

He's actually got an HTC Sensation that he somehow managed to buy for $100 without a data plan and without a contract. No clue how he pulled it off. He just looked at it and was like, "No widgets?? And I can't see every single app I have installed right from the home screen?? WTF???? Fail!!!"
