Used Eris

I would like to buy a used eris to hold me over until the latest and greatest HTC device comes out. I was just wondering how much is a reasonable amount to look to spend? I see them going on eBay for over three hundred and call me crazy, but for some reason that's more than I was expecting.

What do you guys think?

Crazy. It's only been out for 3 months and it retails for 469.99 out of contract.

I bought a brand new one two weeks ago from a guy who bought a Droid and got the Eris for free (his wife didn't want it and kept her old phone).

It cost me $350, but it was unopened and never turned on before. A big plus for me.

I saw several brand new phones on Ebay at the same time sell for around $300. So I'd think a used one would go for less than that.

Hope it helps.

Yeah that's what I figured, I just didn't want it to be true :p.

Actually I already know I am crazy for using an LG VX 8300 for three and a half years. I need to just man up and bite the bullet because I am beginning to become impatient playing the waiting game.

If you play the waiting game you always end up the loser. There is unfortunately just no way to win. There will always be a better phone right around the corner and when it comes out an even better device will be right behind it. You should get what works for you now and worry about the next best thing when your upgrade date comes back around. Besides, if you have a plan that is $40 a month or more then you can upgrade every year.

I'd fiqure they'd be slightly over $300 considering it's almost $500 new without a contract..
What exactly are you waiting for, cause if it's the Nexus One it will be out in a couple months I'd just wait for it

to be honest I have no idea what I am waiting for...I almost bought a droid during it's first week, but just wasn't happy with it after hours of playing with it. It just didn't seem to satisfy me. SenseUI was gorgeous and I was waiting for Bravo/Incredible, then the N1 was announced and I was going to just wait for that because it is gorgeous, but part of me still yearns for the sense experience.

I bought the droid first and returned it for an eris because it was just too ackward of a phone and i didn't liek the keyboard plus Sense Ui is great IMO... I don't know if the N1 for Verizon will have Sense since it doesn't have it on TMobile but who knows .. .Maybe that's why Verizon is waiting to release it

This is right on as soon as you buy anything computer releated it's outdated a month later and something better has come out... I felt this way when playing with a friends N1.. But ohh well I love my Eris and it will do me fine for awhile

I have actually upgraded twice over the past two years and returned the phone within a week each time. I still have my upgrade and am goin on my old contract which has been up for about a year and a half.

I think he is referring to using your upgrade for the 30 day test drive and trying to return the phone repeatedly on the 29th day. Sort of like getting a new phone every 29 days.

We got my wife's for 185, brand new, off Craigslist. Clean ESN. She got a great deal, and we kept our open upgrade status.

Not saying you will get that deal, but hit your local Craigslist and make offers. You never know.

I would take that deal in a HEARTBEAT. From my searching so far, I have found both Craigslist and Ebay to have them available for the same prices.

I have high hopes for MWC in a couple weeks, so maybe it will be better to just save the cash and see if we find anything out then. This new phone thing should NOT be as difficult as it is, I am starting to think that I am entirely too picky.

Isn't there supposed to be a $35 restocking fee with each return?

whenever i got the eris i returned it and got the droid then i went to the bb tour and loved it but it was a little ... ummm i guess... boreing (not exactly the word i was looking for but w/e) so i went back to the eris. no restocking fee. the sales rep told me that as long as i didnt damage the box there was no restocking fee.

Bought mine on Craigslist for $225.00. I have been looking on Ebay and most were going for over $300.00. Mine was still in the box with stickers on it. The guy said he bought it for his dad but he stayed with his blackberry. I think he renewed his commitment and got the free Eris to sell. Ok with me. I sold my old Omnia i910 for $125.00 so $100.00 is a good deal with no commitment to worry about.
