So (new person question) if I'm about to go about rooting my dx2 after having used it and downloaded apps, etc...will I have to back up all my stuff before doing so?

If so, do you guys recommend Titanium Backup? I'm just not sure about what I need to do PRIOR to rooting my dx2. Thanks!

Nah. Rooting is just givin yourself special permissions, it's not really doing anything else. You can use the method above or you can just install Gingerbreak with DroidExplorer and then run it. Your stuff should be fine.
I installed TB afterwards (since it requires root) and deleted bloat apps, though. I'm a TB fan anyway.

Do you have to pay for that SBF file?

It looks like in order to download anything larger than 400mb, you need to pay.

That file is 455mb.

Is there another spot to download the GB SBF file?

One other question. I read that rooting your phone voids the warranty on it. If I reinstall the SBF file on the phone, is the warranty back?

I downloaded it. Took a half hour for the slow free dl service, but it still downloaded.

sorry i didnt get to help much in the last few days been busy (irs after me lol)

I went through the process and I think my phone is rooted (?)

But the available storage seems to be the same as it was prior to the root.

Anyhow, if the phone is indeed, rooted, what should I do next in order to take advantage of it?

Thanks!

To know if it is rooted you should have a super user icon in your app list.

what to do know is what ever you like lol. You could freeze unwanted apps. Download apps that you coulnt b4 you was rooted. Install custom ROMS up to you what you want to do.

Alright the program located in the tutorial SAYS that it rooted my phone, but the superuser, etc. apps are nowhere to be found (even though the command prompt stated that they were installed).

I tried opening Titanium Backup but it said my phone was not rooted. I'm agreeing with it. Any thoughts?

EDIT: visited the original thread on rootzwiki and used the specialized program there for the dx2 on windows xp. I am now rooted.

Is there a way to do all of this without using the USB to a desktop? Just curious...
