Root [GUIDE] How To Restore Service If You've Lost Your MEID

No i used cdma workshop to retrieve it and QXDM verifys it but phone shows 00's. I think i have to do the last step of the downgrade tutorial but i cant figure out how to get a command prompt from android tools, I did it along time ago but cant remember how. The last step it says is to use it to copy over my info so i have service again.

boot the phone and goto settings>about phone and see if your number is there, it looks like it should be from what youve posted, prolly just missing prl to get service.

easy way to get command prompt at the place you can use adb, on vista or windows 7 anyway

browse to the folder and hold shift key and then press the right click button you will get a menu and one item is open command window here.

Now if your not on vista or win7 you need to open cmd prompt by going to run and typing cmd.
when the command window opens it will be at your name. you will then have to use the cd=change directory command and go to the directory/folder that your adb is located.

Also if you followed my downgrade tutorial you would not lose service

Okay i did the adb steps and still dont have any service, Im out of ideas.
if you did the guide from joneidy, which was at the time the only way to get rooted with 2.2.1 you need to put on custom recovery to get service.
check your meid and your phone number in lgnpst if they are correct you can just put on the stock rom from my guide, which is from joneidy by the way, that is pure stock then use ginger break, like you did z4root im sure.

For thosecoming having data problem write back Your msl code since thats what metro uses to authenticate phone they must havr been wiped out when phones eat shit brick

i got all service back, my spc was not working anywhere so i did the "unbrick" 4 button method, lgnpst in emergency installed scr and eri files, then prl. after that i did the meid fix with qxdm. then called *228 to activate fone, they set min i think and now all is good.

If you encounter problems during flashing, upgrading or downgrading you may fall victim to your MEID/ESN being zeroed out. The usual cause is pulling your battery while stuck on the white LG Software Update screen.

THIS DOES NOT APPLY IF YOU WERE USING THE LONG-ROOT METHOD FOR 2.2.1. THAT LOSS OF SERVICE BETWEEN STEPS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MEID.

How do I know my MEID is zeroed out?
If you happen to be using LGNPST, it's fairly obvious from the info on the right hand side. If you're just using your phone, from the Home screen click: Menu -> Settings -> About phone -> Status and look for the following:
My phone number: 000-000-0000
MIN: 0000000000
MEID HEX: A0000000000000
MEID DEC: 268435460000000000
Congratulations! You're zeroed out!

How do I repair it myself?
  1. Go to Android - whiterabbit.org and scroll down to MetroPCS on any Android phone
  2. Enter your MEID DEC from the sticker under your battery or on your box's label
  3. Keep the info that appears handy as you'll need some of it shortly. Write it down or screencap it if you think you'll need to close your browser.
  4. Google QXDM 3.09.19 and install/run it. It will ask you to download a version of QPST as well.
  5. Connect your phone to the computer with USB Debug enabled.
  6. On the Command Output tab, enter the following commands:
    Code:
    mode offline-d
    spc 000000
    RequestNVItemRead scm
    RequestNVItemWrite scm 0x3a
    RequestNVItemWrite esn 0xXXXXXXXX [i](Your (p)ESN from WhiteRabbit)[/i]
RequestNVItemWrite meid 0xA00000XXXXXXXX [i](Your MEID Hex from WhiteRabbit)[/i]
    RequestNVItemRead esn
  7. Restart your phone.
You should now boot back up with service restored and your MEID back in place.

(Portions of this guide adapted from info provided by mrxkills. Not responsible for use other than noted here. Root responsibly. Void where prohibited. Etc.

If this fails to work for you, your other two feasible choices are: 1) Send it to LG claiming a dog ate the programming and 2) Take it to MetroPCS and hope you get someone who doesn't know what you've done to see if they can swap it out. It is not guaranteed to work for everyone.

Usually not on this site I mostly use XDA :p

I too am on step 6 of the op, and can't get QXDM to connect to my phone and thus can not type any commands into the command box. Yes I did install QPST.
I used LGNPST to flash the stock rom, and it says the phone is on port com15 however in QXDM when I go to Options>Communications the only thing in the "target port" drop-down is "Disconnect" however the GPS server port drop-down does have options.

I'm running Windows 7, if there's a compatability issue (I had to tell Reggie to run in XP SP3 compatability to get it to register a dll earlier in the whole hair-pulling process.)

If worst comes to worst this brick will become a $100 baseball.

Don't baseball it. It's not even a brick man. If it powers up at all it is 100% fixable.

Launch QPST config, click add new port, a window will open, uncheck the tick box and more options will appear. Select the option that says Diagnostic, now go back to QXDM and finish what you were doing.

Thanks undercova, getting a MEID on there is almost as satisfying as smashing something. I don't have a phone number, but I may be able to trace that one down (The PRL is something dumb too, but I have 3022 here).
I understand that it's not a 'brick', but a phone that doesn't make calls is of little value but now I have hope. At least this whole process fixed my wifi, which was the whole reason for trying this at all.

If you're in the So.Fl area some time (and old enough) I'll buy you a beer or something.

I wrote a guide on fixing your number on my old account that was banned. The guide is not 100% perfect and I can no longer edit it, read all of the posts in the thread for more info:

If you have any questions feel free to PM me. I've had my phone completely zeroed out a few times so I'm pretty much pro at this process, it's not too bad if you made it this far you will definitely be able to figure it out.

I'd take ya up on the beer, but being a broke ass Michigan resident I see no time in the near future when I could afford to hang out in south Florida, lol.
