in the boost mobile contract it says that any overuse of data maybe charged to your account
i also spoke to customer service on the phone and they had said is any overuse when downloading data maybe charged to your account
does anybody know what might the limit be?

thanks in advance

I use my data plan a lot as well, been doing so for 8 months or so with no issues. Seeing how these phones are basically a pre pay phone, I find it hard to believe they could just charge your account, I would imagine it would be more like they would shut your phone off.

The way boost works is you add money to your boost phone account, via CC, boost cards or you can add money at a boost / sprint store. When the payment is due, they take the money you prepaid with out of this account. So I would say if they did "charge your account", it would just mean you couldn't get the phone turned back on until you paid whatever they charged you. And if it was some super crazy amount, you technically could just buy another phone and do it again. They appear to be very loosely monitored phones.

I was a bit worried at first too, so I made sure not to use a real address and not to keep my CC on file with them. Theory was worst case scenario, I buy another phone and do it again. ;)

I've been wireless tethering my Boost phone for months now with up to 1+ Gigs downloaded in some sessions . No probs so far ! How can you abuse an unlimited DATA account ? HMMMMM . :D

I actually heard talk from one who works with boost on howard forums that they are talking caps.

I would be slightly pissed, and if anything would hope they grandfather us in.

I switched because of the no caps. I doubt in any typical month I even come close to 1gb down, hell maybe not even 200mbs. but the principle of the thing you know.

Yup . CAPS would def. suck ! The one thing that Boost has been bragging about is their no CAP policy . We shall see my friend , we shall see . Hopefully they will leave well enough alone . :D

I've been w/boost over 2yrs and of course before the prevail I don't think abuse of data was a problem but know the game has changed..I got the prevail the first week it was out and even before I was rooted I was usb tethered and was able to use sites like xfinity tv (cable tv in my area) and being a cable customer you can watch a ton of on demand movies and series and so on well I was able to stream with no problem at all on laptop ...for about the last month I cannot any longer it will play stop play stop I've done speed tests and it appears I am just shy of having enough data speed to be able to stream...I'm not sure... all I do know is I could and now I cannot ...I get the same speeds on phone not tethered as I do when I tether so I don't believe it is the tethering app I'm using so I can't help but wonder if they did turn me down (throttle) a bit...when I called them to tell them that when I use internet on my phone it takes a lot longer for pages to load and that youtube videos have to constantly buffer they have me reset profile and prl but I still have slower 3g speed then I had when I first switched to prevail

I really do wonder ...now w/boost rolling out another android model (pretty nice btw) they are adding that $5 monthly surcharge on plans w/android phones even though it won't apply to people w/plans bought before 10/01/11 it just goes to show you that things (I think) will be changing with what boost does to keep a handle on over use ... these phones use more data so they would have to do something and the surcharge they are adding I think is just what's on the surface

so now i wonder if shrinkage starts with the $55 or are they only going to shrink the $50 and the $5 is a boost add on????? The speak any thing but english there at boost so its hard to understand them!

from what I understand it's a surcharge (only for new customers) so the shrinkage will be the same except you'll start out @ $55 and shrink to $40 ...I was told by someone if you ask to speak to a sales rep in the US they will transfer you and if they try and pass you off to another person there just politely ask again to transfer you to US rep they have to do so by law I always wondered why I get someone with a strong accent I guess boost outsources to another country ...I haven't tried it yet but you can bet the next time I will BTW not sure if your aware that pressing 88 will get you straight to a person with a pulse and if they ask for store # just give them your boost phone # ...now that does work I've done it upteen times

I used to have a blackberry before I switched to the prevail. My monthly bill went from $60 a month to $50 a month. Before I switched my bill (from $60) was down to $55. When I switched to the prevail my bill went down to $50 and my shrinkage of $5 stayed... so my bill is down to $45 at the moment. Another 2 months and my bill will be down to 40!

So yeah. Your shrinkage stays with you unless you're swtitching from a CDMA to an iDen phone (or vice versa). iDen phones being the ones with the wakie takie feature which is called chirp, push to talk etc.

I think they outsource to south america or somewhere I've always gotten a spanish speaking person. I let my wife handle those...
