My videos won't play anymore!

This doesn't make any sense to me at all. Last week I was able to watch youtube videos on my Incredible S using the stock video player. Now, when I click on a video it says "Sorry, this video cannot be played".

I downloaded Mobo Player to see if it can play them but can't locate where the videos are stored on my phone. Can someone tell me where videos are usually put? When I open up a file manager it's all Chinese to me. That's one thing I have to say I don't like about android.....trying to find a file or picture requires you have a programming degree.

Is it possible to tell the phone where you want your videos or pictures to be stored?

I don't understand why the videos won't work anymore. I'm running android 2.3.3.

I have installed a bunch of new apps....would that have messed up something???

Youtube application is streaming video data from internet, so you will not find the video stored locally. Open the Youtube app in Settings - Manage Applications and press ""Clear data". This could be enough to reset the app and play videos again.

Sorry Usta, this didn't work. Thanks for bringing it to my attention but unfortunately the videos stored on my sd card still won't play using the stock player.

Do you know where youtube videos are saved on the card? When I open it up it's a mess of folders and names I don't even understand. I would like to be able to at least locate the video file and try opening it up using another program like Mobo or VPlayer.

Thanks!

@Gino34,
Your local videos are those that you put them on SD card. Their playback is a different process than the streaming videos from Internet. If you have local video playback issues, then try to play them with MoboPlayer instead of the stock player.

The videos were either downloaded from TubeMate or transferred from my computer to the phone.

Problem is, I don't know where the hell they are! :thinking: :eek:

I tried launching Mobo or VPlayer and other video playback software but it asks me to locate the folder where the videos are in. I don't know where they are. I have learned that pictures are found in the DCIM folder....but where the hell are the videos???

I understand the stock player doesn't work anymore....but I can't try to play the videos in another player unless I first tell the program what folder they are in. Is there a way to search on my phone based on size? Videos are clearly going to be alot larger in mb over apps and other downloaded items like ringtones etc.

Help me find these videos!

If you transferred them from the computer to the phone, I take it you did not note where you put them? I would think by default they would go into the sdcard directory but not into any of the subdirectories of sdcard. Do you know the names of the files? I would first look in the sdcard directory. If you can't find them I would consider installing Astro file manager, or any other file manager that allows you to search the contents of the phone by filename.

Good luck. :)
