No it doesn't have a notification light. For text messages, however, the screen lights up when received, so you can kind of consider that a notification of its own!

Yea, but that would require you to look at the phone the second you get a message.

The other two alternatives are:

LG 2x/Black/3D Notification

However, this one now requires root.

The other is NoLED.

This one does not.
