What is eating my data plan?!

Have had the infuse for 2 weeks....no significant dent in data usage until recently.
Every morning - as soon as I leave my house/wifi, for work...I get a 15MB data usage chunk eaten from my plan! I have been monitoring my usage daily to ensure I have the right plan.
15MB in data every morning when I depart the house/wifi seems insane.
The only app I can think of that would consume this data is The Weather Channel Widget...but WHY wouldn't it use my wifi to update data and why would it always suck up my data when I depart the house? Does weather widget not work with wifi?
I shut the Weather widget off...and only time will tell..but any input would be appeciated. I don't have many apps, only about 7 installed..and never had a high data usage until after I started Weather widget.

I could shut down data - but then I wouldn't get my emails. The only app I would like to leave on and allow syncing is my email app. It would be nice if there was an app - to control which apps can be auto-synched.....I would shut all down except email.....or...is there an app like that?
I think it was juice defender, that turns on data every so often so you can get emails or any other updates, and then turns it back off. You can sync it with apps and stuff if I'm not mistaken.

I used to use 3g watchdog on my captivate... Now that i have an infuse i wasnt sure if it would be compatible with att hspa+ that i get now so i havent downloaded... But it looks like the link swizz gave is an app that does the same thing... U can see what is pillaging ur data... Thanks swizz will be downloading shortly... And for weather i dont know about the channel i use weather bug... Doesnt seem to be a hog at all even when using the widget and constantly updating and sending notifications....

Well - one down...it definately WAS NOT the Weather Channel app. Once again, I departed my house at 3:45 p.m., leaving WIFI - and boom - 12MB of data zapped from my plan. So, with Weather Channel app eliminted...I'm not sure what it is. It boggles my mind why such a large chunk of data would be eaten...as soon as I leave my wifi!
Does anyone know if the privacy setting: back up my data, would run up a large usage chunk?
What about Maps? I have Maps on my phone...it was in running services, I disabled that too today....so we'll see what happens.
RemindME app - I've disabled that from running services as well.
If no large amounts of data are used today, I will turn one of those apps back on tomorrow and test it again.
Frustrating, very frustrating.

Holy shiznet! It has been 2 days since I disabled the Google Maps App. Thus...NO extreme usage eaten.
However...another smartphone on my plan, had Maps running in the background too...and guess what?! As soon as he departed the house...Maps must have kicked in...because there is a 25MB chunk of data eaten from his usage plan.
I did install 3G Watchdog...on my phone, which rocks. I paid for the app as I wanted detailed breakdown of apps and their usage...and like I said..nothing crazy eaten from my plan...
So, on the other phone line with Maps running in the background...I disabled the app last night...and will monitor usage.
How the hell is Maps rebooting itself and running in the background?! We don't even use Maps!
I may install 3G watchdog on his phone too...but I"m quite confident its Maps sucking our data...

UPDATE: I was poking around my phone and discovered under Settings/Location & Security - that the box was check marked next to 'Use wireless networks, such as Maps"
I went to disable/uncheck the box and a message pops up: allow Google’s location service to collect anonymous location data. Collection will occur even when no apps are running.

AH ha! Is this the data usage sucker?! I understand that certain apps require it to be on...like my Path Tracker...so, I'll have to ensure it gets disabled completely when I'm done using it...

GPS is off all the time - it sucks battery quite fast if left on. Wifi is left on but that doesn't seem to affect the battery life too bad...although I know it is constantly scanning...but, I get a full 15-18+ hours out of the phone.
One additional thing I did notice yesterday was I am registered with Google Maps to auto-update. I am wondering if GM auto-updated around the time I departed the house/wifi...and caused that huge chunk of data.
I tried stopping in the ATT store and called customer service...but there is literally no one that can even explain the functions/features of the phone to me.
So far, since I have disabled Google Maps from running in the background, I have not had any huge usage occur.
I have 3g watchdog installed now - and will keep a close eye on my usages.
