got a question for you guys..using this settings profile app.

so i have a rule that turns the bluetooth on from 4p-5p. The bluetooh turns on just fine. But how come it doesnt turn off after 5p. Do I have to set up another rule? If so, whats the point of having an end time?

If bluetooth was on at lets say 3:59 (before you start time) it will be on when it comes back out at 5

You have to set up a profile with all your basic settings (bluetooth off in this case) and set it as default, so everytime that no rules are satisfied by their condition, settings will fall back into your default.

I just realized that default profile is only a set-option profile, it doesn't un-set options like bluetooth or wifi to off. This should be fixed.

Mine does

I use a "charging" profile for my Innodock dock and ProClip car dock, the profile turns off Wi-Fi, turns on BT and sets the screen to never time out.

If enter my "charging" profile with BT off, the profile turns it, when I unplug the phone it turns back off just like it's supposed to.

If enter my "charging" profile with BT on and unplug the phone it stays on just like it's supposed to.

I'd like it to toggle GPS too but I understand it's an issue with my current OS

Ok I'll repeat the test. Anyway, what happened to me is regarding wifi settings only, I didn't test Bluetooth.

okay I did some testing last night. You're correct that the app takes you back to previous settings before rule turned on. I had my bluetooth on, then the bluetooth rule turned on. After the one hour timeframe, when the rule was done, the bluetooth turned off, so thats cool.

I must've been doing something different....

Ok Wi-Fi is not working, neither turning on or off, at least on my HTC Magic 32a TIM branded using with Setting Profiles Lite. I just came at home, and after 20 minutes it was not switched on. I forced it to be switched on and setting profiles to go default, and it was not switched off.

Mine is having the same issue with wi-fi. I emailed them about it and they said they are working on it.

I'll just try to summarize as best I can how it works.

Stars are items you want to force a change. Check is on, unchecked is off.

It is always good to have a default profile, and you can make sure it is made the default due to its text being green.

The Wifi is the one that I see have the most problems. The guy who made the program I once saw post that this is due to how long it takes for the wifi settings to actually occur. So if you have a profile that turns off wifi and for whatever reason go into another profile that turns it on during a very short window, it is sort of an unknown what will happen.

What I've done to make mine work very well is to try not to "star" too many things. I tried to sit down and think of all the scenarios I might run through in a day and sort of figure out that algorithm. So far this is working great for me except the issue above when I drive on the edge of my 1/4 mile radius of my location-based rules. If I am on a road that is very close to 1/4 of a mile and maybe puts me in and out of 1/4 mile within a minute multiple times I'll sometimes get an issue where my wifi is wrong.

Anyway, the author knows of that issue and is working on it. The documentation definitely needs to improve.

Also, checkmark to the right, when enabled, turns the setting ON. No checkmark merely means "take no action." It does NOT turn the setting off.

The star to the left turns the setting OFF.

There is quite a bit of misinformation going on so just to add on to the previous post, the above quoted is incorrect.

Star an item if you want to explicitly change an item. If unstarred, the item will remain in the state it was in before the profile was entered. If starred to change, a check enables the item, and not checked disables the item. When a profile exits, a starred (changed) setting will go back to the state it was in before the profile changed, unless there is a default profile set.

If anyone has more tips/suggestions on using this app, please post. I am especially interested in how overlaping locations/profiles work.

This app does need documentation or tips, but all of this is detailed on their website in the comments.

I think it would make more sense if the coder simply added a note that checking a box turns it on, unchecking turns it off and that stars are actions. Very little about this app is intuitive.

I'm so frustrated at the lack of instructions, I think I'd delete the app if I didn't finally have everything working like I want it.

I can appreciate that for invoking multiple profiles. But as profiles exit (i.e. you leave the condition), does it go to the last profile before that one or straight to the default.

Example: you have a default profile and a profile for near your house and another profile for within 5 miles from your house.

As you enter, you would invoke the 5 mile profile, then the house profile. I get that part.

But as you exit your house, would it revert to the 5-mile profile or straight to the default since you had exited a profile?

It would go back to the profile it was in before. It only goes to default if there is no other profile it should be in. I have verified this with my wor, charging, and headphones profiles.

My work profile is time_based. Then I docked my phone and it anded the two. Then plugged in headphones and it adjusted my volumes. When I unplugged the headphones I was just in docked and work and my volumes went back to work levels. When
I undocked, my brightness and timeouts went back to my default setting (my work profile doesn't adjust these).

So far everything I tested works just as it should and as I expect, I just didn't know what the stars were at first so I thought there was no way to leave a setting unchanged, that is till I went to the devs website.

Gee, thanks. Of course, I read that.

It seems bizarre to me that the app will permit you to put a check mark by a setting, which is then ignored since it is not starred. That is so counterintuitive that I wanted to explicitly confirm that is how this app works.

What this app really needs is ONE SETTING which has three values: ignore, turn on, turn off. Segregating out the Ignore/don't ignore (i.e. star) from the turn on/turn off (i.e. check mark) doesn't seem very wise. The check marks should not be selectable unless functional.

Well not quite. If you tap a setting to change it, the program will star it for you automatically. So you can't really change a setting and it have no effect because you didn't star it. You would have to explicitly unstar it after changing the setting.

So here's my question. I am using the latest version of this app.
I have 3 profiles: Default (Brightness 36%), Home(Autosync on,Brightness 50%, Vibrate for notifications Off, Ringer), Night (Wifi off, brightness 36%, Vibrate for notifications off, Vibrate on Calls: on).

I have 1 rule "Activate night" during 2330-0300 every day.

I wake up today at 8am, and notice the phone is still in silent mode.

Am I missing somethere here? Should it not be in silent?
