I love my DINC. Just got 2.3! Replaced blown speaker myself. Good as new, but eventually (6 months) I will be eligible to replace it. What's the next logical phone after the DINC?

1) I prefer to stay with HTC.
2) Android, of course.
3) No sliders need apply.
4) No bigger than 4". A tablet is not a phone.

What is out now or what can we expect?

I prefer to stay with Verizon for now. At least they provide a signal at my house. All the others are iffy.

TIA,

Dan

dare I say I'm contemplating iPhone 5....lol

A lot is gonna weigh on what exactly comes out in the next few months though....i really like Android and the platform, but like others I don't want some huge bulky thing to lug around everywhere....so tough call at this point.....hope they're are some good stuff on the horizon!

I hear ya...! I am keeping that as an option as well, but ya, need to see what comes out. If the iPhone 5 comes out and is only 3G and such, I will just buy an Inc2. If it comes out and is 4G and the same size as the iPhone 4... Well... I may make the switch. I really like the Android platform, but I have to like the actualy look\feel of the phone first.

So I have had mIncredible since June of last year. Well the power/wake button has lost near all functionality. I took off root and factory reset it and am still facing random phantom reboots and scrolling.

So today iwent out to Verizon to see what they could do for me. Nothing since I'm on my parents family plan and not of Account Manager status. So we are going to go this weekend to have it looked at. The guy mentioned something Bout they could have it repaired, but I imagine they will throw a hefty charge for that. If the option is they give me a replacement phone, what do you think they will try to give me?

Also, my moms phone is up for an upgrade she thinks, if that's the case she said we could maybe just use her upgrade. I have no idea what I would upgrade to. I was thinking either the Dinc 2 or the Charge. What are your thoughts of a good upgrade option?

I wouldn't use any upgrade discounts on ANY current phones, however the incredible 2 is good as a warranty replacement.

Exactly, there very strong rumors of several phones coming out over the next several months that are (IMO) significant upgrades to most current phones.

- HTC Vigor (maybe called incredible HD)
- iphone 5 (yuck but its fair to mention it)
- Samsung prime ? ( maybe the next "google" phone)

Yea, after doing some looking around, I definitely won't be using my upgrade yet. I swung by Verizon's store yesterday and browsed the selection. Not a great selection, nor really an upgrade as far as I can see.

Hopefully they will just fix it. If they try to charge me something outrageous, I'm going to see if I can sweet talk them into letting me just get a replacement like the DInc 2.

The Incredible HD will be my upgrade come December... the specs are impressive:

Supports Verizon’s 4G LTE Network
4.3-inch WVGA display optimized for HD content
1.5GHz dual-core processor
1GB of RAM
Android 2.3.4
8MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and Full HD 1080p video recording
2MP front camera with notification LED flash
1620mAh battery with wireless inductive charging capabilities
Mobile HotSpot capabilities
48GB of storage out of the box (16 onboard, 32 in a pre-installed microSD card)
Pair of Beats headphones.

I agree with all the criteria you listed though I dunno that a 4.3'' screen would bother me. Just seems like nothing since the Dinc was released really impresses me enough to warrant another $200. The Thunderbolt seems just just be a bigger screen and will be EOL soon. Hoping that come out with something awesome soon!

PS- According to the search I just did, the Incredible HD is rumored to release Oct 13 but will be another 4.3''

Just updated wife's Blackberry that was on Sprint to Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch. Wholy crap that phone is fast!

Slim, thin phone, very very nice screen. Once you pick it up, it's not that bad as being too wide like the Thunderbolt seems. If my wife and handle this phone, you can too.:p

So far, so good even on Sprint network.

If this come to Verizon or the Nexus Prime, oh you got to get one of these! Damn it's quick! Downloads blaze by, Netflix pops up, browser screens just come up so damn fast.

My INC is a company provided phone so I'm stuck with it.

I'm really annoyed that phones are completely dump the trackball/trackpad/d-pad. It's almost impossible to get the cursor exactly where you want it, even on the 7" screen on my nook color. If I need to move to cursor two spaces, it's either a 2 swipes on the optical trackpad on the Incredible or 20seconds of manhandling the onscreen cursor tool in an ever more frustrated manner.

I can't speak for everybody or every phone but I never used the trackball/trackpad/d-pad, but I do know what you mean about trying to fight with getting the cursur in the right spot. But given that, the Android 2.3 GB update to the Inc, when you are typing now, if you just touch where you want the cursor, you get a tear drop shape image with a cursor above it and a maginfier window, and now all you do it touch and drag that tear drop image to wherever you want the curser inserted. It is actually very slick I think... IMHO..

The Incredible came out in April/2010. The Incredible 2 came out April/2011. I see a potential pattern here. In both cases, the global phones that they were based on (Desire, Incredible S) were announced in February in Barcelona. So, in theory, you should know 2 months before your NE2 if HTC has a 4" phone in the works, and if Verizon plans to pick it up.

Now, the above, and the following are all pure speculation on my part, but going by the way HTC has treated the specs of their devices, my guess is that the "Incredible 2" will ship in April of 2012, have a dual-core Snapdragon CPU (which will be mid-range by then), about 1GB of RAM, and either LTE + CDMA or CDMA + Global, but unlikely to have LTE + CDMA + Global roaming. The 1Q 2012 LTE chip shrink should make this doable, but I'm not sure throwing in a global radio with those radios in a mid-sized phone will happen in early 2012.

But if you already know that you are going to upgrade around April, speculating on phones out today is irrelevant. If it's already available, it will be eclipsed by the time you're ready to buy.
