Protective Plastic on Back of Slider - Did you remove yours?

So I noticed some (protective) plastic on the back of the sliding screen today. I gave it a little flick to see if it was meant to stay, but it peeled right off. Seems to be part of the plastic films put on before shipping. Can't believe I haven't seen this in over 2 months (of course I rarely slide it open).
Sliding mechanism is much smoother now and certainly not loose.

It has also opened up a whole new Droid Feature: It is so shiny and reflective on the back of the slider now, if you get lost in the woods and are out of cel reception, you can use the back of the slider to reflect the sun and signal the rescue plane while still playing your favorite game to pass the time!! Droid does - Survival tool!

Yes, this was posted back in November. I never saw it

I stripped my Droid naked, because that's the way I like it.
I always strip off the plastic films electronics are shipped with too. Can't believe I missed this one for so long, but like I said, I rarely slide it open.

Now this is wierd: Now that the plastic is gone I just noticed a secondary mesh on the back of the slider behind the ear speaker mesh. What is it for I wonder??

Ok, I sucked it up and took the film off. I notice no difference in the sliding of the keyboard. If anything, it might be a little smoother now. However, the sticker did not come off as easily as I expeceted. I started doing it and had second thoughts due to how well the sticker was still on there, but it did come off and so far no problems. I've only had my phone for a week, so I have plenty of time left to return it and get another one if a problem comes up.

I'll let you in on a little secret but don't tell anyone else. If you are NOT anjoga, skip to the next post and don't read the line below.

It actually doesnt matter at all whether you take it off or not :)

Looks like some sort of breather for the screen. Or it might emit a pleasant scent after we get 2.1 in a few years.
 Maybe it is there for better acoustics on the ear speaker? I can't figure it out. I can hear the ear speaker through it when it is open, but I don't see a scenario where I would be talking on the phone with the slider open, holding it backwards... the technically challenged, maybe...

Take a read through the older post if you want. It's really, really long.

I personally never bothered to remove mine. I haven't read that post so I'm still not sure why it ever got so large. It doesn't seem like a big deal to me either way.
I agree it is very long.
And as far as i could tell, it never came to a conclusion.

Anyway; I removed it on my first droid and it did loosen up the slider where it would come open in my pocket. Luckily i had to return it. Im keeping it on this one.
