***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

All these twitter people don't really seem to say anything we don't know already or are not very obvious predictions. I feel like I could make an account and give just as much info as these people... and I have no insider info at all....

Plus................i don't believe you would be getting a cease and desist letter from Sammy like one of them got...........LOL
That alone adds some credibility to what they say IMO.

That just doesn't flow with the traditional "part 2" of any phone from the past. Usually the 2 phone is just a specs upgrade.

Nothing traditional about it. The Samsung Galaxy S series for Sprint was the Epic w/ slide out keyboard. The sequel (Epic Touch) does not have a keyboard. There's nothing to say that Verizon didn't decide that the good ol' carrier sponsored S2 would be a slider with a slightly smaller screen because they were intending a more powerful phone AKA the Nexus shortly after. Besides, what better way to celebrate the 2 year anniversary of your Android debut (the OG Droid) than with the next pure Android iteration?

You bring up some EXCELLENT points Kyler and I can't say you are off base. I think your comments have a lot of merit.

If definitely fits logic. I was wondering how there could be a Prime and a Nexus phone on Verizon if they were fairly similar, but if it stands to reason that the Stratosphere is synonymous with the Charge 2 or Droid Prime (a mix of code names and candidate names there, with one of them being the final go to name). Or maybe these are/were candidate names for both devices as they kicked around how to brand both phones. In any event, that would mean you'd have:

1) a SA+ 4" slider with SGSII-like specs > based on the Pantech, I'd put this at $199 w/ 2yr contract
2) a SA HD 4.65" touch phone with better processor, memory, camera (Nexus phone), I'd put this at $299 w/ 2 yr contract

This enables us to get these two devices released in a relatively short span (4-8 weeks) because they wouldn't overlap too much in target audience or specs.

BTW, I have the utmost respect for you OG Droid owners. My sister's Droid 2 needed some serious house cleaning, and MAN does everything about it suck. Doubt I'd go with Motorola...ever. My Charge next to it seems like a super phone.

Wait.. .I don't think you should be venting on us. I think you should be venting on and nagging your sister!! :p (You must admit, I have a point, here.)

Oh believe me, I do. She just has an ability that you all have yet to perfect: Ignoring me. :p

The people in question have a history of this kind of thing, a well as track record, fwiw .

Yep, Black_man_X did the same poem crap when something else came out. I think it was the thunderbolt? Can't remember. Anyway, he nailed the release date.

BTW, I have the utmost respect for you OG Droid owners. My sister's Droid 2 needed some serious house cleaning, and MAN does everything about it suck. Doubt I'd go with Motorola...ever. My Charge next to it seems like a super phone.

Actually, I think that the OG Droid was probably the better made phone out of all the Droids. Not the highest tech-wise, but the better fabricated. I got mine within a week of release, from Walmart, and I've never had a single problem with it, other than the camera button paint flaking off, which has happened to 90% of OG Droid owners. Even now it's still running strong.

.....If October and November comes and goes and we don't see anything special, I give you folks permission to rant here and I won't say anything. :p (the other mods may. ;))

Sometimes I wish I was like one of the millions of other Verizon customers who walk into one of their stores, not even knowing (or caring) that there are countless forums on each of the devices I see, and simply picking the one that looks the nicest and fits my budget. And then I'd go home and play with it for about 5 minutes, all of which would include simply making a couple of test calls and inputting my contacts into the phone book, and whatever freezes or lagginess I'd see, I'd just chalk it up to it being a phone.

And when my friend would ask me something like "Why'd you get that phone? Phone 'X' is so much better, it has blah blah blah!" I'd simply blink at him and say "What are you talking about? It's just a phone!"

Ah, that ignorance would surely be bliss.

If I kept guessing right I am sure they would send me one.

But ya I am not saying they are not credible people.. Just they continually bait people for more followers, and don't really release much, which is fairly annoying

Agree. They should just be straightforward and lay it out for everyone. These poems suck and aren't even right 95% of the time. Its stupid. If you want to leak something leak it and don't play stupid games.

Its not enetertaining its irratating. Ill no longer pay attention to anything that comes from them. Moving on.......

If this were true, what is the point of the Stratosphere? A phone that is pretty well confirmed at this point, including an FCC visit.

I would be the first one in line for the phone you suggest, btw. But alas, it seems so unlikely.

The only thing I can see is a Charge 2 that is WVGA SA, TouchWiz Gingerbread, LTE and SGS2 specs.. I guess so those who want a Samsung branded phone won't be left out..

Thanks a lot, Mfecik. Yet ANOTHER date to remember! :p

I hope you're right, though. It could be either good news, bad news or no news. Considering that we haven't seen anything through the FCC yet, I'm not getting my hopes up...

I wish the darn thing would just pass through! I am so impatient! Although at least this suspense is better than knowing it all and just being annoyed that I have to wait for it. Just wish everyday there would be a leak of what it will REALLY be like. It can be something small...don't care, just something!

Samsung Announces New Unpacked Event for October 11 at CTIA - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

It's been a slow week for news but this is at least something!:D Hope it turns out to be good news!

My opinion...this ^^^ is it! It's our turn folks. I am feeling more positive about the "Big" Verizon release in November. I am only going off of the bits of rumor, hints and VZ_Wired's comments...and my gut feeling. I just believe I will be satisfied and this event is what we've been waiting for!

That scenario makes logical sense, but reality is pretty much every rumor/leak said that Stratosphere will be 1Ghz single core, 512Mb RAM, LTE slider, quite far cry from anything like SGS2. Also it's model number is i405 quite lower than even Charge.

When it became clear that Stratosphere won't be SGS2 on verizon late August, a lot of folks moved over to Prime forum including me. If Stratosphere becomes dual core/LTE phone after all, that would be nice surprising news though I'm waiting on Prime at the moment.

I'm still kind of smitten on the Stratosphere (I'm a qwerty nerd), so anything that offers some hope keeps me alive.

This Galaxy S slider inbound to Canada has a supposed 1.2Ghz dual-core (probably Qualcomm Snapdragon), which would be decent compared to a complete Epic 4G rehash.

But isn't that S glide for Canada just GSM/HSPA+ phone like international SGSII? Also its camera is 8MP vs 5MP on strato. I wish your hope keeps alive, but I still don't see how Stratosphere can be this one.

Yea, I'm hoping its a similar platform, obviously not the exact phone, but it does look more like the Epic 4G and less like anything newer..

This sounds promising. If it's true that Samsung will use this event to announce the upcoming Prime, Nexus, Galaxy Nexus, whatever it's called, then Google should be holding an announcement even sooner to reveal ICS.

If Google schedules an announcement before the 11th, then signs are good.

The way the Droid 2 resonates with the haptic feedback is irritating. I figured it was the physical separation of the screen from the bulk of the phone (sans the sliding hinges) that contributes to this. I'm not crazy about the feel/build, either, but that may just be because it's a slider.

Didn't understand this comment. My 1) is the Stratosphere. I think we're on the same page?

You guys REALLY need to stop getting hung up on model numbers. The Continuum had the EXACT same internals (processor, RAM) as the Fascinate, just a smaller display and form. It was the i400 to the i500.

I think we know the relative worth of rumors at this point. I don't think we ever knew, for sure, what the Stratosphere would contain except for what someone said in an article, of course regurgitated dozens of times by the usual suspect tech blogs. And I thought they made mention of a single core 1.2GHz processor (curious, because the Hummingbird processor was never clocked that high). I'd be willing to be they got the clock right, but failed to know it was actually dual core. I think we'll know for certain about 2 weeks, maybe getting a spec sheet leak soon. I believe it's supposed to hit 10/6.

OK, disregard the model number part. But I rechecked several recent news, rumors, leaks on stratosphere and found none mentioning dual core or even 1.2Ghz single core but plenty of saying 1Ghz single core. Did you find any?

It's good sign indeed. I posted it above too, but it seems nobody took notice. Along with CTIA Samsung unpack event announcement, we got two good news today.:)

Anyway let's take discussion on stratosphere to its forum where it belongs to. If it really gets better processor, larger RAM than originally believed, that forum needs to be revived.

I noticed it, but didn't really understand it. Does this mean that someone can tell what OS each phone that is connected to the network is running?

That seems strange to me.

No, I think it simply means that more people are out looking to find out information about ICS from what I got from it. It shows how many people are looking into ICS/4.0.

Yes...who surfs to the to the site. IP's, Browsers etc etc.

The OS can be spoofed though. NOT saying people were in fact spoofing 4.0 but it can be done.

Everyone in here is being smart and just waiting for this event in October. It will save A LOT of time and aggravation thats for sure :)
