I love the Moment.

But I find myself endlessly annoyed by the placement of the Voice Control button on the side of the phone.

This button's placement is absolutely perfect for accidentally pushing it with your thumb or fingers when you're on a call, or when holding the phone in either portrait or landscape mode.

I dont use voice control. Even if I did, I'd want it to turn on when I decided to use it.

I've searched the Phone Settings; I've searched these forums; I've searched the Android Marketplace.

Short of cracking the case and physically removing the button, I'm out of ideas.

This is a pretty good tutorial on how to root. Removing Nuance will cause the voice control button to revert to a contacts button. If you don't want to use the script from the root page, this is a good guide on how to remove individual programs. Personally, I prefer to use root explorer but it is not a free program. Rooting is easy and you have plenty of backup here and on SDX should you run into trouble. Have fun.

----> Same thought process. I am driven NUTS with this stupid stupid feature of Sywpe.

Have you found your answer yet, The reply to your question as regarding ROOT and all that was very wishy-washy.
Also the gentleman/lady should know that ROOT violates the warranty on the phone. I am not sure that is desirable.
Frankly, I dont even want the SYWPE SETTINGS button (lower left corner) on the keyboard.
How many times does one change SETTINGS.

That could be replaced by the @ sign or even your humble !, but not settings.
There is just no one listening at Swype look like...

This is where the iPhone 4 excels. You will find any number of stable, rock solid apps allowing you to customize the keyboard.

If you have found the answer to this one, please, please email me; else I am taking a power drill and drilling right thru my otherwise very beautiful Samsung Galaxy SII.
I am going so very crazy over these buttons
