any have apk of original browser?

nevermind...i got my old one out of a nandroid backup. do you have a nandoid backup you can unpack op?

i didn't like it because of no anti aliasing...i don't care if scrolling is faster.

I do have a nandroid backup, but I dont know how to unpack it? just unzip it?

and I don't like the pinch zoom, I don't like it not having the +/- buttons but mostly I hate how it loads every page already zoomed in and I really hate the lack of anti-aliasing.

Just a word of caution. Some of the new ROMs (like Pete's) are de-odex'ed ROMS. What that means is that some apps (.apk files) that usually have an accompanying .odex file not longer do. Some of the devs are combining those two files, thus cutting down on the size of the ROM, and I believe there is a slight speed advantage.

The problem comes in when you try to replace a deodex'ed apk file with one that is not, or vice-versa.

Oh ok that's why it didn't work, Thanks! So to get the old browser back I need to find a browser.apk that has had the odex file combined. Anyone know where I can Find one of those or maybe where I might look to start to learn how to do that?

Guys, don't use any of those native apps for browsing. xScope is so much better. It's faster and it has tabs. The dev is providing excellent and frequent updates. He responds to requests and suggestions almost immediately. It's the best browser available right now. Try it, you'll like it. Just my humble opinion (but it's the right one). :D

the MILESTONE browser blows xscope away

Well, if you mean in that you find it visually more appealing or some features appeal to you more than on xScope, ok good. But not on speed. I've compared xScope to other browser, including Milestone, and xScope loads pages faster. Now, that's on my droid with my service and having each going to the same page and using a stop watch. And I go to pages that are not cached by the browser so they are both going to a virgin site. Now, that may only hold true for the site I've used in my ultra-scientific tests, but xScope has won everyone of them.

Again, by "blows away" you just mean it suits you better, then I have to agree with you (as you know that better than anyone else).

I'm having trouble getting used to the milestone browser too. out seems slower than the stock on several sites (like this one?). and the focusing seems slow. like most of a second, and I trend to keep my finger on the screen, which means no refocus.
maybe I'll get used to it.

have not tried xscope in a few weeks, maybe I'll give it another shot
have they fixed the bug that keeps you from making it default?

For anyone who is interested I was able to remove the mt browser and install the stock browser. I found that Pete put up a deodexed stock 2.0.1 nandroid backup here. I removed the mt browser and copied the stock Browser.apk to the phone and it works great.

I did this with adb but you can do it from the phone too.

From Phone:
Code:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
rm /system/lib/libmtwebcore.so
cat sdcard/Browser.apk > /system/app/Browser.apk
mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
sync
From Computer:
Code:
adb shell
$ su
# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
# rm /system/lib/libmtwebcore.so
# rm /system/app/Browser.apk
# exit
adb push (location of stock Browser.apk) /system/app/Browser.apk
adb shell
# mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
# sync
