Okay guys. I would like to perform a factory reset on my phone. I have followed this direction but I have not option to "Pick Factory data reset or Pick Reset phone" I'm trying to avoid the method of removing the battery and holding down the volume button while powering on because I have an otter box and its a pain.

The only options I have are 3 check boxes when I go to Privacy. Display message text. Back up my settings and Automatic restore.

Why don't I have these options below? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

1. On the main home screen, select menu
2. Pick Settings, then Privacy
3. Pick Factory data reset
4. Pick Reset phone
5. Enter the password if prompted, then confirm by selecting Erase everything

You have to go under sd & phone storage, then to the bottom you will see factory reset.

EDIT: I am really really really too slow, LOL.

No, will not format your SD card, you can do that also, but I would save the files you have on it, you may want them, once you sign in to Gmail, it will start downloading your apps for you

This will format my internal storage and external SD Card too? A fresh start?

Also, do I just visit the market afterwards to get my Apps to auto-redownload?

I'm considering doing a factory reset for my EVO 3D. Ever since HTCs update to the phone a couple of months back I've been having issues with random rebooting and having lock up issues when using my fav app rhapsody with the blue tooth connection. I do want to stay with the official software and don't plan on rooting the phone.

So my questions are if I do a factory reset will that take my phone back to the orginal software or will the HTCs update still be on the phone?

If its a clean wipe and its like when I took it out of the box will I be able to prevent HTC updates from being downloaded and installed?

Has anyone heard of any Fix updates coming down anytime soon from HTC? I've seen the random rebooting problem all over the forums.

And what application would be recommended to use to help me track and reinstall of my applications I currently have on my phone.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

A FR will simply restore your phone back to stock settings, but will not delete the latest SW updates you installed, as for an update who knows, I have not heard of anything coming out soon, and as for your apps, once you FR, once you sign in to your Google account it will automatically download your apps you had from the market, unless you turned that feature off the first time when you set your phone up.

hi and welcome.

a factory reset will take your handset back to factory out of the box state.

if you have updated firmware, that will stay, but updates will be to be re downloaded.

you can go to the HTC forums and open up a ticket with any issues you may be having. there have been no reported updates mentioned from HTC. Again, its worth a call or e-mail to ask.

syncing with google will bring your apps back. you can also use "appbrain" in the market which does the same thing.

I'm glad I saw this thread because I'm having a lot of the same issues as you guys! My phone has gotten really slow and Laggy after that last update from HTC.. it lags, force closes, sense restarts frequently, my keys quit working and i haveto power down my screen and re power it to get the touch screen working again :( my gps widget restarts sense.. and I'm afraid to do a factory reset as well because I have two apps that are paid apps and i have tons of pictures and videos I do not I REPEAT DO NOT want to lose!! And the last time I did a f.reset on my EVO 4g original evo.. it back fired and my phone shit to bed it wouldn't do anything what so ever..and that was a brand new EVO sprint ended up giving me a re furb :( and my EVO 3d I got on day 1 and I don't want that to happen again!!! No way :( and my stuff is backed up too according to my phone that option is checked and has been but the thought of it failing like it did before will really upset me !!

Is there any way not to bring back your apps after factory reset? I have noticed after a long period of installing apps then deleting them, my battery life gets worse. After a factory reset it seems to make my battery life A LOT better. After using a file manager it seems that even when you delete apps some leave files behind. My guess is some of these files continue to use battery. I'm probably totally wrong but I am certain that battery life gets better. Anyways, now that Google backs up your apps a factory reset isn't serving it's purpose in my case. So I would like to start fresh with no apps being re-installed. Called HTC about it and I was told to get a new email address---ridiculous. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
