Man im dieing for some fresh details on this =-(
Im REALLY hoping they have one with a keyboard, though i doubt it will, us keyboard jockeys seem to get the shaft. I do alot of remote desktopping and do actual work on my phone (att tilt and envy touch), i also have to occasionaly do RD-Support (connect to another persons machine and fix an issue) and its just NOT doable without a keyboard.

Panda seems to believe there will be a pkb version of the Nexus. haven't heard anything else about it, tho.

someone over at HoFo claims to have held a test device for the new D4 (codename Maserati), and says that it is extremely slim and rather impressive. you may not be shafted for long... :)

Why are some people so hung up on have a pure vanilla android device? Is it because these devices are the first to receive any updates from Google? Are there any other benefits? I've been fine having sense on my Incredible and others don't seem to mind TouchWiz. I understand the Verizon bloatware complaint, but that is a different issue from the skin.

Regardless, whether it is pure vanilla android or not, I want this phone now!

I whined about this earlier but it's been 20 pages or so, time to whine more! My issue isn't so much the bloat but the frequency of updates. With a Samsung layer on top, they will get updates from Google, put their fingers in it, then pass it to Verizon who make sure their bloat works. This slows down the process which is very relevant since this will be the first ICS phone and will have tons of bugs. I'd rather they get fixed quickly rather than the usual Samsung treatment of it taking forever.

Wouldn't surprise me further, with the upcoming iPhone, if Google explicitly locked down any leaks ahead of the announcement to one up Apple and steal their thunder this month.

Make no mistake on this one, nothing Google can do will steal ANY thunder from Apple's announcement of the iPhone 5. I can't stand Apple, but I'm in a vast minority. People will get an iPhone 5 sight unseen, knowing nothing about what is improved over the 4. There will be long lines and waiting lists. It's just how it works. Remember the iPhone 4 video that went around last year, the one with the "big GBs"? It's reality.

We more tech savvy folks are the only ones who care about the specs, thus our interest in the NP. We are not the target of Apple's marketing, our non-tech friends and family are and they outnumber us.

Short of setting off a nuke, Google won't be able to steal Apple's thunder.

I'm sorry if my words seem to eerk anyone..:(

But the only thing that I know that is true, is we will be going on to page 43 with some more BS slinging.:D

Hey everyone is entitled to their opinion and in the end you own your opinions until they are proven right or wrong....in that case just be prepared to hear

I Told You So!

Likewise if your opinion turns out to be correct then you are welcome to do the same to all of us who have a different opinion.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...

Gonna have to say, after being with VZW off and on for over 15 years..........their network is great, their service is great, but the speeds of their 3G are dismal !!
I consistently get 250 to 300 kbps download with 500 kbps upload! Not good at all........my ATT friends are always over 1000 kbps in my area. They are saying my area will see 4G in 2013..........LOL
BIG RED.........IMO..........will NOT get a Nexus Prime :(
This just does not play well with their history. I will go on record saying they will indeed get a decent device.............but not anything much better than the SG2 available now from other carriers. (Vigor ?)
I am waiting for awhile to see what happens, hoping i am being way too pessimistic.
For an example of what i am talking about...................just look at their advertizing campaign with the Bionic. That phone is average at best and they honestly think it is awesome....................oh well.
This will be a chance for BIG RED to shine..............can you say RED SOX ?

Oh......and BTW..............read today the MOTO has just closed root access to the Bionic. This after their promises of having unlocked boot loaders......... saying thanks a bunch to both MOTO and VZW................well done :(:(

from what I read the iphone 4s or iphone 5 will be all about "voice" also to mention is the iphone 4 won't support VOICE in OSI 5 LOL another under hardware screw up if so by apple usually they at lease support 1 device down in their upgrades

unfortunately I have to agree. This is Verizon we are dealing with. Great Android phones are not synonymous with Verizon.

The original Moto Droid (which I am still using)?

The HTC Droid Incredible?

Agreed, I would not want to own most of their Android lineup, but the above two are excellent phones. I'm actually hoping to get my hands on an Incredible when I friend of mine "upgrades" to an iPhone 5 on VZW. That should hold me over a bit if this Prime-whatever does not work out on VZW.

So any word on whether this will come to AT&T when originally launched or will us AT&T customers have to wait like with the N1 and NS? I have an Inspire 4G, and frankly am tired of HTC Sense. Not that its bad, I just prefer vanilla Android without the overlays. I gave my Nexus 1 to my little brother, and outside of the crappy battery life it now has for some reason, I still love it. My coworker has a Nexus S, which I wish I would have gotten instead of the iPhone 4 (I know, I know). So Nexus Prime it is. The Inspire 4G will be sold to the highest bidder.

Android is just fine the way it is without some manufacturer trying to "improve" on it with a skin that assumes I want my phone to work their way, on their terms. A stock, vanilla Android phone is infinitely more customizable and I can make that phone my own... instead of personalizing a look that everyone else has too.

I don't necessarily want an OS that is "just fine". For me Touchwiz , for example, improves on my experience. Widgets in the notification area for one, a much more colorful and visually pleasing overall experience for two, there are many other reasons.

For me stock Android is in fact "just fine". However it is also plain, boring, and pretty uninspired IMO. This is not to say I like everything about Touchwiz, and I personally am not a Sense or Blur fan. I am only saying that Android has lots of room for improvement, and that for me, stock does not necessarily generate the best experience overall.

I am sure I am in the minority on these forums with that opinion, but I bet I am not in the minority in the overall consumer base ..

The ability for manufacturers to make these improvements is a great Android asset IMO ..

No word yet. I wouldn't know any rumors about att, but there are a couple saying that there are two devices--one to Verizon and one to other carriers.

I would be perfectly fine if it turned out like this. I really like the SGS2 and this would be an upgrade to that running ICS.

Reason number one would be the faster, direct from the source updates. No having to wait on google to release it, and the carriers to comb over it and make their own tweaks, and then release it to the masses. That process takes forever. In it's first iteration, Android wasn't the most polished of OS's. HTC Sense and the other overlays added polsih to it. But from 2.0 and beyond, I don't think the overlays were necessary. Many of them are memory hogs and many of them (Blur, for instance. At least, the first few versions of it) made android worse, not better.

Also, the Nexus line will be supported for a nice little while. My Nexus one is still getting updates to keep it fresh. Other higher spec'd phones still haven't received proper updates, because the carriers want you to upgrade to a new device rather than have you hold on to the same one for too long.

And 3, some people just prefer the look of pure Android. I like it over Blur, Touchwiz, and Sense. I only went with the Inspire because to me it was the best Android phone that AT&T had at the time. I got it on release day, and have been happy with it for the most part. I just look at the desk next to me and get very envious looking at the nexus s my coworker has.

I'd be perfectly fine with this, minus the capacitive buttons below the screen, which we all know, according to rumor, won't be there in ICS.

Whether their there or not is not my concern, though. This phone will be mine (when it comes to AT&T!).

Sidenote: If by chance AT&T doesn't get this soo, I'll be extremely disappointed. So disappointed, that I'll either take the walk of shame back to t-mobile, or go to sprint.

If verizon locks the bootloader and adds a bunch of bloat on the phone I am definetly leaving verizon and going to sprint if they get the nexus which I'm still not sure of based on all the things I have read.
There are ways around this problem! Rooty tooty sandwich.;)

Hang in there, it will happen. You surely will not have to wait like VZW peeps had to.

I like it, with or without ICS and the spinkles.
