Lost audio on text input

All of the sudden yesterday I lost audio on text input, entering log in credentials, entering text for a search, etc. I have gone through the sound settings and everything is checked that would affect this.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

First of all, have you shut down, pulled the battery, and rebooted?

If that doesn't work ... you probably need to reinstall the app that controls voice input. I forget the name of it. I'll do a search and see if I can find it.

Thanks Joe, tried that and no joy. Just to clarify, I am not using voice input but instead I have lost the audio feedback when typing text into a field. I still have the tones when dialing from the dialer and I still have audio when making a screen selection, just no audio when entering text into any other field.

Have you changed your keyboard app? Some of them don't have any typing sounds.

If not, go into Settings > Language & Keyboard Settings > Android KB settings. Make sure "Sound on keypress" is checked. If it is already checked, try disabling it, reboot the phone, then enable it again.

If none of the above works.. then I have no clue.

Bingo! That was it. Not sure how it got changed but the sound on keypress was unchecked. Thanks very much.
