Hello everyone. I currently have an Acer Liquid metal (locked to telstra) and am interested in unlocking it. I hear that if you 'root' it or 'flash' it with a 'rom' you can unlock it for free. Is this possible ? If so, anyone know how to do this ?

I read this comment gsmarena:

$128 at JBhifi in Australia locked to telstra but reasonably easy to unlock for free by updating the rom to 2.3.4 with acer download tool . easily the best value for money phone available as of september 2011 .

^^Not my comment, someone elses.

while executing in adb shell

All you need to do is update the phone to the freely available 2.3.5 rom published by acer themselves. You can download it from the ACER UK support website.

Once the rom is installed your phone will automatically be unlocked.
