Okay so I just got off the phone with technical support and I explained my issues with my Bionic :( and as per the email I received from them they are aware and Motorola is planning on release a software update first week of November, without further ado here is the "official" list of known problems:

All I can say is, the last time i saw a list this long was my Christmas list when I was in kinder!

Holy S**T. Could it get any longer. I didn't read anything about the black screen of death. are they not admitting this?

Well to be fair, Verizon mentioned these are all issues that have been brought to their attention by end-users, so I'm sure they might be aware of it but I'm sure its not as common as the previously described list.

Half of the list is the way it's designed to work according to Verizon's specs! The BSOD - Moto is aware of it on their support forum, so hopefully that and the random reboots others are getting will be addressed...IF they can figure out what is causing them!

I got 46, that is still a lot.

Yeah, and now subtract from that the times they say "oh.. that's normal and how it's going to be according to Verizon". You wont have quite as many left.

The only issue I'm really having is that every once in a while my phone just goes black... as far as I can tell it's still on.. no buttons light up.. the power switch does nothing.. it just locks up and I can't do anything about it until I pop the battery.

How often are you experiencing this behavior? This has only happened to me once.

Many "issues" on the list are "working as designed/approved by Verizon". the "real" list of issues is pretty short and will be even shorter as soon as the first two OTA's are broadcast.

Fine it's a short list with a lot of stuff on it. I not saying that everything needs to be fix but that the list is problems user did not like and wanted Moto and Verizon to know about. If Verizon wants something to work that way, that is fine but we as user's don't have to like it.

Knowing Moto they will try and fix everything they can in the next update, because that's what updates are for. Nothing works perfect out of the box.

I can't recall any smartphone that hasn't needed a few updates to improve upon it's release stability/function. I didn't buy the Bionic thinking it wasn't going to require some updates. Furthermore, I'm not plagued by ANY showstopper problems (If I had been, I'd have marched it back to Verizon within the first few days, like I did the Storm).

I knew buying the Bionic that there would be an update with in the first few months to fix issues of the first 4g dual core phone on Verizon. I also have had no "showstopper problems" beside the bsod twice, which I can deal with until the update comes out to fix it. All I was saying is that the list is long of things people where having issues with. Just because a user has issues with something does not mean Verizon and Moto needs to fix it but they should be aware of it.

You need to remember this is a forum for people to post there opinions and just like Verizon you might not agree with them but they have a right to express them, not tell them to count, then sub what Verizon feels what is right, then subtract again what you feel is going to be fixed in the next OTA
to come up with a number that suits you. If you want to look at that way that is fine but to kept challenging a person to see your way with government math when all they stated is that the list was long is just rude.

You have your opinion and I have mine. Lets leave it at that.

I love my Bionic and would not trade it in even with some issues because no phone is perfect.

Known Issue. 9-8-2011. Customer duped in to thinking this would be one hell of a phone. In actuality, it's a mess like every other phone we put out.
Solution, take said phone to the grand canyon and heave ho it over the cliff.

if you think about it, most of the hype to get people jazzed over a phone is from forums like these using leaked or sometime made up specs. the one that was shown earlier in the year was upgraded as per moto. big red never gave a release date or confirmation of the device until a week before.
i for one like it. i had a storm 2 and loved that one as well, even though everyone said it was crap. as long as it works its fine. look at all the iphone people who have to hold there phone a special way cause of were the ant. is.

thanks for the list. good info.

Folks, lets put this in perspective. The reported issues are nothing more than a minor inconvenience. Have you ever bought a car only to have to take it back to the dealer for that squeak or things not working? How about your shiny new Windows computer that grinds to a halt on the first day you have it and then you have to install 100+ updates on Black Tuesday. For those that do not know, "Black Tuesday" is the scheduled once a month release of the giant list of Microsoft patches that need to be installed on Windows systems.

Lets face it, Android is a developers level system. It will always have bugs and due to the open nature of the OS, software will crash, changes will be made and things will improve and get worse depending on what is updated or loaded to the device.

Motorola has work to do on the operating system to make it work better with the devices, but it will always be a constant effort.

We really should not flame Motorola or Google as long as things improve over time. If you want the "Perfect OS / Device", get an iPhone. Ol' Steve has it so locked down that you cant do anything even if its jailbroken and its really really pretty. It is an awesome device, but it is for people that like the shiny toy and want to wear handcuffs for the entire time they own the phone. If you want cutting edge, stick with Android and the new devices and you wont be sorry, but you will have to suffer a few bumps in the road.

Question: I've noticed odd behavor on device when it is plugged in for charging (USB and wall-power). I only use Verizon-sold chargers. Specifically, the "password" grid behaves badly and I need to unplug in order to get it to work again. Touch screen function also behaves oddly.

Anyone else noticed this??

Nope, my phone has always behaved normally when plugged into the charger, have you removed the battery and rebooted to see if thats the issue?
