Can someone give us a recap of the prime rumors to date and compare them to the iPhone 4S? This tread is so long I can't remember everything....I should have been taking notes. I need some ammunition to hurl at some fanboys tomorrow.

Check out the first post on the first page of this thread. Steve does a good job of keeping it up to date.:)

Apple iPhone 4S makes its way through the FCC? -- Engadget

This is what I thought I remembered with regard to FCC filings. Somehow, Apple either strikes a deal with the FCC to keep it on the DL until they announce it, or they're just that confident their phone will pass that they wait until after they announce to submit it to the FCC. So, what we have here is only a 10 day lag from passing FCC to release. Samsung/Google could be doing the same thing. We may see our beloved Prime pass through FCC just in time, next Tuesday evening.

Talking about FCC, I don't remember seeing anything on the SGSII from the FCC for Sprint,AT&T,ETC....

There's nothing wrong with being a pessimist. It just gets annoying to see every rumor, the only thing we have to go on, be shot down because we don't know the model numbers. If these phones are as similar as some would lead us to believe, they will probably be nearly identical in looks, leaving the model number only a matter of semantics. trust me, most of us here will be far more excited about a leaked photo over the model numbers.

We all know to take anything leaked with a grain of salt. No need for ck to constantly remind us. And no, I'm not trying to troll ck. From what I've read of his posts on here, he seems to generally be a knowledgeable guy.
No offense taken at all.

My point about model numbers is that there is not one solid piece of info about the 2 models being identical. Its only rumor at this time. Hopefully it will but until then we really don't know anything in regards to either of these phones. There's a lot of assuming going on.

I'm not trying to kill excitement. I hope to be celebrating right alongside everyone come the 11th but until then I am personally not going to get sucked into all the potential misinformation until I know something.

Again I know you aren't "trolling" me. I understand what you are saying. I'm just trying to add another perspective at this time.

What is really mind bending to me at least............16 months and this is the best they can do?.................oh well......................3G to a 3GS...........now a 4 to a 4S............................unreal!

And starting at $199 on contract, no less. I cannot believe they can get away charging $299 for the 32GB version. You know, HSPA+ 14.4Mbps isn't that bad, though it's no 4G. I feel bad for CDMA customers who have to suffer with a tiny screen and ~1Mbps speeds (if they're lucky). Some things just can't be compensated for, even with a dual core processor and a high quality camera.

Thanks,

I always just go straight to the page I last read. Thanks for the hard work Steve.

If this phone has these specs, a great battery life, and gets released on all other carriers after a quick VZW exclusivity it may just be the iPhone killer! I would love to see it become huge and get lots of accessorie manufacturers behind it.

Here's that info from AC:

"Nothing I can really show you without people screaming "FAKE!", but a reliable tipster's shown me a Word doc that points to a possible Oct. 27 launch. Certainly in the realm of possibility since we're expecting an Oct 11 announcement.

Note that it's also listed as the "Samsung Prime" -- no mention of "Nexus." Not sure whether to worry about that. But gut says not to. Also says it's a replacement for the Droid Charge"

I really see this as the beginning.......................the downfall of the Apple iPhone. These tiny improvements they make.............lmao............the fan bois just keep eating it up. They really should spend more time designing a new phone rather than suing everyone in sight for the last 6 to 8 months. But i guess that's what you do when you feel the heat and are on the run.............time to sell that Apple stock? It was down today AFTER the announcement..............does no bode well IMO.

Enough of Apple i guess...............next week i really do not think they will be talking too much about Apple..........bring on the PRIME:):):):):):)

Really hope Prime has the OMAP4470 and not the 60. If not, then it should have the same GPU as the Nexus S, which is the PowerVR SGX540. Somewhat outdated tech, plus it will be pushing alot more pixels...not sure if that would be too competitive. If they opt for the OMAP4470 then that would include the SGX543/44, which is still not quite as powerful as the GPU included with A5, which is a dual core variant of the SGX543.

Ugh. Suprise me Google.

That is almost what you have been saying all along. ;)
The only thing that is missing is "SCH-i515":)

Guess all the information I posted from Kellex of Droid-Life.com is turning out to be true. He always knows what's up and I think next time, you guys won't doubt the information coming from him.

I'm excited for the Prime, the buttons on the screen are looking better than some of the other fake and mockup ones we have seen so I am happy about that. I don't think it is a coincidence that the image leaked today of all days.

Other than the 10/27 possible release date, this is practically the same info that the Best Buy employee showed a while back. It said Samsung Prime was replacing the Droid Charge.
