<------------ SALUTES ROZE

(Hey, it's morning :D )

haha :) Bonjour Chief ;)

What are those three metallic dots? Volume?

My guess is the three dots are on the camera button... Same position as the one on the OG Droid. I hope I hope I hope!

The three dots are probably the charging ports for a dock. The nexus one had them at the bottom.

@Patrick, that was my thought originally when I saw it but the location of the charging ports is VERY awkward on the right side when you take into considering that the power button is on that side as well.

One of the things I really hope the NP has is a multi-colored LED. I don't know if Samsung does those or not, but it's extremely useful on my DX. I often can tell what the notification is about just by the color of the LED. If it's not there I'll miss it, but realize the other benefits of the phone will offset it.
It's Samsung so there's a high chance that there's no LED on their phone. They didn't have it on the Nexus S nor any of the Samsung Galaxy S variants. I'm not sure if they had it on the SGS2.

And I told myself to stay away from any Nexus Prime rumours so I won't get disappointed again this year....

i have to day that little teaser was awesome. I'm getting pumped again.

QUESTION: Does anyone know the track record of when a Nexus device is announced , how long after that until it's available?

I've never bought a nexus device so i don't know.

Google's Nexus S official, coming December 16th to US, 20th to UK (update: $199 on contract, $529 unlocked) -- Engadget

I can't quite remember when the official announcement was, but this article was on Dec. 6 and implies that it was officially announced around this time and would be available Dec. 16. So, just like Apple, 10 days :D. Let's see if I can find some Nexus One articles...

EDIT: For the Nexus One, Google held a press conference on Jan. 5th to announce the phone and it was available to order online that day. However, that was still the time that Google though they could sell their own phones.

Wow that's one sexy looking phone!

Please tell me that Sprint will also get the Nexus Prime! I will not be switching to the overpriced Verizon just to get this phone.

Does anyone know if and/or when Sprint will get this phone?
I really hope Sprint gets this. I have a feeling it wont be till early 2012 though.

Ooooo, that stinks!

The Sprint version of the SGS2 does indeed have an indicator LED.

That stinks a lot less!!

Hey X Factor, welcome to the forum! We've been talking about that photo and trying to determine whether it's real or fake. Do you have any opinions?

Here are a few observations, none of 'em conclusive:

  • The lower left region when examined in a paint program is a broad stretch of pure black pixels (rather than a dark gradient or splotchiness) which can indicate artificial retouching.
  • The lower bezel seems too tall. One of the features of the new Android ICS version is its support for "soft" buttons created as extensions to the main touch display, rather than separate physical buttons. With the new large 4.65" display, you'd expect them to minimize unneeded width/length of the phone.
  • The text edges (s/w/x/y) appear to run slightly off the left edge of the display, which may be a normal photographic focus/perspective issue, but could indicate sloppy photoshopping.
  • Lower text is sharper than higher up, which may well be normal w/macro focusing.
  • The horizontal bounding rectangle containing the bottom buttons doesn't seem to show any greyish backlight/display bleed, which I'd expect to see if the buttons are rendered on the main touchscreen instead of being either physical buttons or otherwise separate capacitive buttons.

I wouldn't disagree with any of your points or argue against it not being the phone we are lusting after but there are counter points to all of those.

1. This could be retouched to hide serial numbers of prototype devices. If I were to let someone(or myself) take a picture of my top secret phone they better blank out any spots that would get me fired.

2. I agree it "looks" tall but there isn't enough scale to determine that. I tried comparing it to my Droid X in hand and it looks like the bezel could be of similar size. Plus, if there is a LTE radio it might require more internal space, which means more external wasted space.

3. could be the angle of the pic taken

4. This would probably be caused by focus and lighting issues.

5. You've never used an OLED screen apparently. There is no backlight. Black pixels are off pixels. If you see anything other then black on a black pixel it is because of screen glare.

With a phone this thin and babe-istical, one question pops into my head:

WHERE'S THE BATTERY?

I sure hope they didn't slap a 1200MAh battery in this thing just to keep it sexy looking... we need at LEAST 1800MAh!

Ha, we think alike. That's one of the first things I thought of last night too. I'm wondering if perhaps those are in fact charge ports on the side and if so, could the battery possibly be a left to right arrangement toward the bottom of the phone?? Or perhaps a more square shaped battery? No idea.

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I've owned the first iphone and then upgraded to the iP 3gs. I have been waiting for about 10 months for the iP5 to be released. Unfortunately the iP4s (iP Ass as some call it) was a complete disappointment. So... I've been lured to the nexus prime and am very excited about next week's announcement.

I'm sure apple will continue to sell a ton of iPhones. They are a quality product, but, the market is changing fast from when the iP3gs was released. There are some excellent competitors and I really see this as a huge opportunity for Samsung and Google. I'm certain the specs of the nexus prime will be quite impressive...i'm just worried about the fit and finish.

Anyway sorry for rambling a bit...just looking forward to a new type of experience. I can't help but think that Apple has gotten a bit complacent.

Don't forget Gramma, guys! Gram's a girl, too.

Don't forget me...Cindy! I posted way back, but it wasn't the most technical post! I'm learning so much technical stuff just lurking about here and reading your informative posts. I was one of those people who just wanted a phone to talk on. Boy, you guys changed my mind on that one. There's so much else going on with this phone! Can't wait for my upgrade October 27th...hopefully the Prime will be out by then or shortly after.

Glad to hear you considering switching. If you do, don't get frustrated in the first few days. I too was a long-time iPhone user, then switch to Android 15 months ago. First few days were a bit disoriented. Now I would not go back!

Welcome to the forums! :D

We're glad to have you in the fold; feel free to wait with excitement right along with us. I'm sorry you were let down by Apple: a lot of people were. When stocks go DOWN after a new phone is announced, you KNOW there's a problem. I sure hope the Prime lives up to your expectations... and I think it will.

You don't have to worry about fit and finish, Nexus Prime is going to have metal shasis and construction. It'll be a good device.
