Any Cases that fit the Droid Bionic + Extended Battery?

I picked up my new Bio last night with ext battery and silicone case.
As previously stated the case just falls short of wrapping the sides.
I sliced the silicone case with a sharp razor blade in two equal spots at the rear.
Right where the rear face starts to wrap for the sides of the phone, or the end of the internal waffle pattern.
The slice starts from the top just at or below the camera housing down to the speaker opening. Keep your razor right at the end of waffle pattern. The other side gets a little close to the hdmi/chrg port opening but if you use a nice sharp razor the silicone case should not tear unless severely abused.
Mine fits perfect now and is great for the time being, or at least until someone makes a cleaner fitting case.

Any chance you could post a pic or two of your mod?

Seems to be fine. It hasn't torn any further than where I sliced it.

Has anyone seen the Droid Bionic Extended Battery Case at Techie Warehouse?

This is really nice... the more I think about it the days of owning a leather case for my cell phone is over.

I'd add a link but I'm a newbie hopefully someone else can. Give me some input thanks.

That looks like the same case Verizon sold me - the Shell / Holster combo. Yes, works well with extended battery and me dropping my phone twice.

I just got the extended battery for the Droid Bionic but it would not fit the Otter Box Case. I played around with it and the only way i could get it to work is to leave the hard back of the otter box off and just put the silicone around to lock it to the top. It seems to work fine. Hope this will help. Hope they can come out with a real solution.

Thanks for the pics... Any chance you could post a pic of the bionic with the modded case on? I'm about to do the mod, but I'm curious as to how it looks on the device.

Edit: Nevermind. I took the plunge anyway and it isn't half bad! It'll do until an extended battery case comes out that I actually like (I really don't like the VZW case).

I have been using the Cellet Bergamo sleeve/case. It is a little tight with the extended battery but it fits better with a little breaking in. I dont like the big cases, just wanted something that would slide in and out of my pocket. It does have a removable clip that is nice. It gives me the Blackberry sleeve feel I was looking for. Its not ideal due to the tightnesss, but at least I'm not taking the battery cover off.

Yes that is the one i mentioned in a post above, it is a tight fit but i prefer it that way and since it has the removable belt clip i can use it on either my belt or inside a suit pocket when dressing up a little better. And i got it on ebay new for 12.99 instead of the 20 at their site. And now i see them on ebay for as little as $5 well worth it. I prefer the feel for the naked bionic and putting it right into the sleeve. For $5 you cant go wrong.

JeepinDoug or others,

I also have the same case that JeepinDoug shared that helpful picture with his modification.

My question for JeepinDoug or anyone else is to whether or not the Bionic, with the extended battery and that case with the modified razor cuts, will then fit into Verizon's standard car mount?

Right now without the extended battery the bionic in that unmodified case fits perfectly in the car mount. I want to buy the extended battery and make the razor cuts if and only if it still fits in the car mount (for my Jeep, btw!). Does it?

Thanks to JeepinDoug for the original idea and to anyone else that reads and responds.

@earlyhike,

Thank you! I'm really curious as to what you find when you try to slip the cased and extended-battery-occupied droid into the verizon car dock. The verizon car dock does come with an insert, and with my bionic currently encased in the silicone case shown above it fits perfect -- but that's before I buy the extended battery and modify my case as pictured above.

Thanks to anyone that can test this for me!

@bprutzman

Haven't tried in a car dock yet. But I put an extended battery on mine and it JUST fit nicely into a standard doc (insert removed). No room for an extended battery AND any kind of case as far as I can tell. I'll try my new car dock shortly

Hi,
I have a Bionic, the extended battery, and a modified case/cover (like the one pictured above in this thread). I have tried inserting the unit with the modified cover and extended battery into the car dock (WITHOUT the spacer), and it fits, but not very well. Sometimes the charger connection doesn't quite make contact, and you have to sort of cram it in there. I ended up just taking the cover off of the phone when mounting in the car dock (with the spacer reinserted). It is a hassle to have to remove/replace the cover every time I want to insert the unit into the car dock, but I have found it worth the effort since it ensures that the phone is properly seated in the dock. I suspect that we will run into the same problem with any cover, even the ones made for the extended battery, but I could be wrong about that.

Hope this helps.

I purchased the diztronic (formerly TPU) case from Amazon and it fits the extended battery perfect the matte backing allows for a nice non-slip surface and the front edges are glossy so it has a nice forward profile. The entire thing fits nicely in my car dock, extended battery + case. I recommend getting one.

tpu cases.com

Just received my TPU Case and it is absolutely the best fitting case I have had to date for any of my phones (OG Droid, DX, Thunderbolt, Bionic). And since the options are extremely limited for the Droid Bionic with the extended battery and the price is very low, I figured I'd give it a shot. $13 is very low risk as far as I'm concerned, and I am extremely happy with my purchase!!

I didn't even know there was a removable insert on the home dockand I have the extended battery and had been using it without removing the insert all along and it fit fine as it was.
Same here - in fact, if I take the insert out it's too big for the phone and it teeters on the usb connection.

That Cellet Bergamo sleeve is pretty nice, but too masculine for me. :( I miss my Sena sleeve.
