Excellent..welcome to the forums and Android. I think once you get used to Android you will fall in love with it. It's a much steeper learning curve I think but once you get the hang of it the options and set-ups are truly endless.

Hope to see you purchase an Android handset this next go around.

Thanks :D

As far as the learning curve / customization etc , thats the reason why I am heading on over to android. As much as I have hacked / jailbroken my iphone throughout the years , it has become quite dull now. A redesign of the phone would have been great and I would have probably upgraded to it. I cant see my self opening up my brand new package and seeing the same exact phone ive had for 16 months staring up at me. No fun at all.

All new is probably a good thing.

Now you have to hook us Jersey folk up with info... Please dont make me start knocking on peoples doors till I find you... Its getting pretty late at night you know!

I once was an apple fanboy... I even upgraded to a 3GS from a 3G back in the day for way too much money. Never again! I really am loving android plus having 4g and a nice screen helps too.

Well... I'll agree with you that there isn't any reason to keep arguing about this, so I won't. How 'bout if Prime comes out w/4212 I'll buy both you and Nashdroid a virtual beer? :)

Haha! No virtual beer necessary. I just don't think anyone can say that something is impossible when it's honestly not. It's like saying that it's impossible for General Motors to put one of their own brand new designed V8 engines in one of their new compact cars. Sure, it's a big engine and it's brand new and it would be a tight fit, but it's their own engine and their own car, if they REALLY want to make it fit and do it, THEY CAN. It's really as simple as that. It's like saying that scientists WILL NEVER cure cancer. Sure, it's a long shot and it hasn't happened yet, but it's STILL POSSIBLE that it could happen. The possibility might be tiny, but there's a chance nonetheless. Saying that it's impossible that Samsung will put the new Exynos in the next Nexus device is just simple incorrect. It's not impossible. There may be a slim chance, but saying it is impossible is simply wrong. It's not impossible.

I can see how everyone has their own opinions on the matter, but nothing is set in stone and nothing is out of the realm of possibility at this point. Because none of us have hard evidence.

you've been shown hard evidence over and over, you just refuse to believe it for some reason.

but that's fine if you don't want to believe it. but do me this favor. i've shown you why it's absolutely not happening. show me where it HAS happened before. show me a SoC that sampled and shipped in the same quarter. surely if it's in the realm of possibility, it's happened before, yes?

do you not think if they were capable of getting good yields that they would release it asap? do you think intel and amd hold their chips back because they want to wait to make sales?

Download: Nexus Prime Boot Animation - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

Anyone think that this boot animation implies this ISN'T a nexus device? The previous 2 nexus devices use the same "x" style boot animation. This just seems too completely different...

That M thing about Dual Core looks way too much like http://www.profil-info.com/uploads/images/motorola_logo.jpg

Not that that means it is fake (Google does own that TM now), but it seems a bit...off.

You've shown me hard evidence? You've shown me hard evidence of how the new Exynos processor WILL NOT and CAN NOT be in the new Nexus device? I've read every post on this thread and I must have missed your hard evidence. Do you work for Verizon or Google and you know for a fact that Samsung's new processor won't be in the newest phone built by Samsung? If I missed that HARD EVIDENCE post, then I apologize. Because that's the only thing that would be hard evidence. Citing past circumstances with other phones and other processors have no bearing on what will happen in this circumstance with this phone. When you get some ACTUAL hard evidence that the new Exynos will not be in this phone, let us all know please. Until then, stop trying to state your opinion as absolute fact.

Edit: Also, man, you're setting yourself up to look really bad in a few days. I'm not saying that the Nexus will definitely have the new Exynos in it, I'm just saying it's possible. If the phone comes out and it DOES has this new processor in it, you're gonna look silly. Let's just agree to disagree that it is possible that this new processor will be in this phone. If you don't think it's possible, that's fine. I think it is possible, along with numerous others here in this forum. You don't have to agree, that's perfectly fine. Just stop flaming every post that we make about the possibility of it having this processor. It's getting old. If you don't agree, just ignore it and keep reading till you find something you agree with. That way there's no harm done and no one gets annoyed by having their posts bashed and picked apart constantly. That takes all of the fun out of this thread, and we all like being excited and having fun. That's why we're here.

Samsung ‘Orion’ Dual-Core Mobile Processor Announced

Samsung’s new dual-core application processor, Orion, will be available to select customers in the fourth quarter of 2010 and is scheduled for mass production in the first half of 2011.

the 4210 was sampling to select partners in Q4 of 2010. it was in a product in may of 2011.

Samsung Exynos

there we see the 4212 is sampling to select partners in Q4 of 2011 (so maybe not even sampling yet).

this will somehow be in an already manufactured phone how exactly?

edit: and sorry if you don't like my posts, but if you're just going to randomly hope for stuff. why stop there? ;) i'm just trying to help out by squashing bad rumors

And kindly tell us all what phone it was in, in May of 2011... Go ahead... It wouldn't happen to be, at the time, Samsung's newest, biggest, baddest phone that changed everything, would it? ;)

Edit: Because if we are following that pattern you posted with the last Exynos, then the new 1.5ghz Exynos won't be in a phone until Summer of next year. Well...won't we have quad processors by then? Why would Samsung be putting tiny spec bump processors in their phones in Summer 2012? That would mean that they only went from 1.2 to 1.5 in a year. That's pretty bad.

the s2. why?

edit: looks like i caught you before the edit. but it took 6+ months to go from samples to production. 6 months......

edit2: welcome to the world of mobile processors! lol. just like megapixels aren't everything, neither are processor speeds. note, not only is it getting a speed bump, it's using less power and getting a better gpu. quad cpu's? sure, but i think the only for sure quad we know of right now is the tegra3. and who knows if nvidia is ever going to deliver a chip on time. the 4212 is still going to be competitive when it releases. no worries there

Right now most folks agree that Samsung Exynos is the speed king in smartphone processor. Most benchmarks show SGSII still trumps others. I wondered what makes Exynos perform much better than other similar A9 based ARM chips like OMAP4, Tegra2. Exynos beats them not only in many GPU parts but also productivity scores like browsing.

Then I came across the benchmark of t-mobile SGSII like below. T-mobile SGSII is using the 1.5Ghz S3 snapdragon that most new HTC phones like Amaze, Vigor, Holiday will also have. I'm surprised that it still manages to crank out 3400+ on quadrant while HTC Amaze with the same AP does only about 2500 on quadrant. That's almost 1000 difference in score! So I think SGSII is not only benefiting from Exynos but also from Samsung's excellent optimization of firmwares and TW 4.0. HTC is probably slower due to either Sense or their less optimized firmwares.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II benchmark tests

This leads me to guess that Nexus Prime will boast excellent performance regardless of OMAP4 or Exynos because Google/Samsung would have done pretty good OS optimization for it.

I think it took 6 months because they didn't have a phone ready to put it in. They have one ready to put it in now. The new Nexus. It's possible this time. Come on. Just admit it. It MIGHT could happen. Right? I believe in you. You can do it. Just say it might could happen. I know it didn't before with the last Exynos, but they have had all this time to develop the new Exynos, Samsung could put this thing in the new Nexus if they wanted to and if it is already stable and has been tested. I know they said it's only starting to sample this quarter to select customers, but Samsung isn't it's own customer. Samsung is Samsung. They're themselves. haha If they wanted to, they could. I happen to think they will. Whatever processor is in this new phone, it hasn't been in a phone in the U.S. before. That's if you believe VZ_Wired, and I have no reason not to believe him, and really no reason TO believe him. I am just an optimist, I guess. I like believing in things. I am the guy who roots for the underdog and bets on the long-shot horse. I think it's possible.

hey, the 4460 hasn't been in a phone yet either ;)

xtop the 4210 and 4212 use the same generic ARM Cortex A9 processor. So we are not talking about an entirely different architecture here. It's already tried and true.

Nobody on this thread is saying it WILL deploy on the Nexis Prime. Most of us are just saying it's a possibility and it is UNLESS you have some sort of inside source that has told you unequivocally that it will not ship with the NP.

Samsung is not one to keep the status quo in regards to their tech and they have shown us that with their screen technology. Heck people were saying we wouldn't be seeing an HD screen from them this year and look what happened with that.

We are just being open minded and not shutting the possibility down. will we disappointed if it doesn't release with the Exynos? Absolutely. Will we be surprised if it doesn't? Nope. Will be be surprised if it does? Nope :)

Nobody is making a claim either way. We are all just in a holding pattern. Whatever the outcome is this is not a "I told you so" thing. We are not in the game of making bold statements and are only being open to a possibility.

Nothing more nothing less. I promise :)

not to keep this going, but there actually is quite a big difference between them. the 4210 is built on a 45nm process and the 4212 is on 32nm process. if they were both using 45nm i'd be all over the place saying it was using the 4212. but it's just too early for it :(
