The Metro PCS clone of the Revolution - the LG Esteem - came out about two weeks ago and it's running on Gingerbread 2.3.4. I have the phone, and for a Metro phone it is fantastic, but I find it odd that they have not released an update for the Revolution to upgrade it to Gingerbread for you guys. You can even tell that Metro's phone was ported straight over from a Revolution because there are still some left over settings on my phone inside of hidden menus that say Verizon on them. Odd that they haven't released an update considering that all they did was took the Revo, upgraded it to 2.3.4, reduced the internal memory, changed the back case and called it an Esteem.

I can confirm the revo does not have gingerbread yet. I got my revo about a month ago, it did an update right after i got it (probably to 2.2.2). I have checked for updates ever since and notta. I go into device info and android version 2.2.2, not 2.3.x. I'm thoroughly annoyed by this, i would have expected even ICS to be available by now much less not even GB!

I had a live chat with an agent from LG about gingerbread on the Thrill. He pretty much told e LG has nothing to do with upgrade. Google and the carrier are the ones who decide what phone gets what update. Once the update is out LG posts the update on their website update tool. So its pretty much Google & Verizon playing hardball will this phone. I'm assuming it should be coming cause the thunderbolt is getting 2.3.x pushed out anytime now.
