I really would have preferred to be able to choose more than one option. I probably would have gone with the first option as well. This is the first I have heard of this issue and I would think it would have been reported if it was more widespread. I certainly hope that you are able to get a new, functioning Streak.

yeah there has to be some external influence that is causing this. tempature of your house, elevation.

the fact that this only happening to you is really suspicious.

heres my advice, as soon as you get the new one turn it on and sign into your google account. then download these apps:

https://market.android.com/details?...bletcpuusagesmonitorfree&feature=related_apps

https://market.android.com/details?id=net.maicas.android.batterys&hl=en

this is tablet cpu usage monitor and will show you how much of your cpu is being used. the second one is a bettery widget. once you have the battery widget installed go to the app menu click on it and change the, "show on tap" to degrees Fahrenheit. i have a feeling that that is not the problem because there is no way in hell that you have gotten what, 5 or more and the same issue keeps happening.

after you have theses things installed DO NOT PUT THE DAMN THING DOWN UNTIL IT BREAKS OR THE BATTERY DIES
keep checking those widgets about every 5 minutes. this is going to seem tedious but really you need to isolate the problem.

please tell me how this goes and PM me if it does break. also do not plug it in!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the advice Plattypuss94! Unfortunately I got it too late. I did get the 7th Streak in before I read your post. (actually this one was just the 5th to replicate the same problem) I got it in, turned it on, got it on my wifi and google, then TURNED IT OFF and did not plug it in to charge, because I had computers to repair and wanted to do exactly what you suggested, hold the darn thing until it worked or broke. After I turned it off, I laid it on my computer desk right in front of me next to the keyboard and procceded to work on the computer I was removing viruses from and glanced over about 20 mintues later, and, yep, you guessed it. It had swelled up and popped the bottom of the case open. I knew before I turned it on that the LCD would be shattered. I, and Dell, are at a loss as to why this is happening. They are sending me my 8th one and I expect it tomorrow. I live at 3600 ft in the plains of southeastern colorado, the tempature in the house was about 77. I laid the latest one on a wooden desk next to my printer and keyboard. no magnets that I can think of anywhere close to it. I'll PM you before I turn the new one on! :)

you will not put this next one down. also i would like you to set up a video camer looking stright down at the screen and have it recording from the moment you take it out of the box. i had an idea but i need to see how it is breaking. if you can do that it would be great otherwise i want still pictures asap.

New update:
I received my EIGHTH replacement unit on October 11th, 2011. It was completly dead straight out of the box, and, if you held it to the light right, it had several cracks in the screen, but not in the shatter pattern as in the previously overheated units. I called Dell again, they immediately agreed to send me out another replacement unit.
I expected to get that replacement unit on the 17th but it did not arrive. I was patient (plus really busy replacing a sewer line on my rental house eeeewwww ickkk). When I hadn't received it by the 19th, I called Dell, and they informed me that it had been delivered on the 17th and gave me a tracking number. I hung up and tracked the package... it had been delivered and signed for in INDIANNA!!! I live in COLORADO!! ....... I called Dell back, and they are again shipping out a new unit to me. I THINK THE GODS OF DELL REALLY DO HATE ME!!!! LOL

I just read this , and I have to say, this is one of the most bizarre things I have ever read!! Did you ever get a working one? If not, I would call the Ghost Hunters team out to your house!!;) I am also surprised Dell was willing to send you this many replacement units. One of the other folks that posted asked you to setup a video camera and record your streak. I would have loved to have seen that video!!
