Best DUAL SIM android phone?

what kind of drivers would you want ?? or you can choose one from cellphone store
Hi,

I don't know which drivers I need. The thing is that I want to make my A60 go to android market and I have downloaded one tool for rerooting the phone called I think A60 upgrade tool v2 and when I start the tool program doesn't see the phone it doesn't communicate and do nothing.
Best regards,

Don't forget the FET T8888. I'm writing this message with it :). Opera + Swype makes browsing pretty good. It's very stable, and after a few app updates, the apps don't crash either. Dutch language is supported including T9, but all Android phones have that I guess. Good luck choosing your new phone!

drsnuggles, where did you get your FET T8888? Seems you're Dutch? I'm using a HTC Desire now and would like a similar dual sim phone soon so i can use a sim card from work simultanously.

- Are both sim's active at the same time?
- Can you use different ringtones for both sim's?
- Can you use dataconnection from 1 sim and still recieve a call on the other sim?
- Are you using it in Holland?
- anything else I should know about?

Thnx

-Got the phone here.
-Both sims are active in standby. So you can receive phone calls on both sims without problems. In contrast with the V350, you can receive a phone call while surfing the web. What is not possible is to receive a phone call with one sim while having an active call with the other.
-You can't select different ringtones per sim. A work-around would be an app which defines a ringtone to a number. This is feature I miss a bit for new number calling me.
-Yep, no issues. You can combine two sims which use same network as well.
-The downside: the speaker for calling is not loud enough. Well, you can hear everything clearly, but I would prefer more volume. You should also use the phone on your left ear, since the microphone is on the right side. Some Chinese design flaws I guess :D. It also misses a led for indicating stuff, like a missed message. But ofcourse... there's an app for that (NoLed).

I seriously like having just one phone instead of two :D

I think we've got no choice. I made peace with it. :( If it first have to get to computeruniverse, then to ViewSonic, then back to computeruniverse and then back to me, that will take quit a lot of time I presume.

I doubt it can be fixed, I don't think they are gonna put a new screen in it either. Or it must be a problem with the graphics card or something they can solve by flashing it or something like that. So I think they are gonna send a new one.

If it's a problem they already know about (maybe the reason why it took them so long to get it on the market) and they know they can't fix it, maybe they will tell computeruniverse to send a new one right away.

But a new one will probably have the same problem, unless our phones where part of a first bad batch and the new batches no longer have this problem.

We'll have to wait and see...

did you sent yr phone allready back to computeruniverse ?
Any idea how long this will take ??

Huawei U8520 has appeared on Australian eBay (

I asked the seller about this mobile and got the response:
"We would like to inform you that Huawei Deuce U8520 is genuine huawei's device and this device use 1GHz CPU.

And now it's been pulled. Caveat emptor.

I'm from Belgium and I bought the same phone from the same website as drsnuggles. It arrived 3 working days after my order was placed (pretty fast if you ask me, coming from Hong Kong).

Installed a custom ROM and everything seems to be working smoothly, except for the fact that the phone reboots automatically like 1x/day when in standby mode. I suspect it's caused by a software bug though, should look a bit deeper into it.

Nevertheless, I'm really happy with the phone, especially because it only cost me

Hi specs and review seem nice, I have just three questions for T8888:

- is multitouch ok? :)
- what is battery life?
- Is screen calibration OK?

Thank you so much in advance.

Peter

Cool, could you share which are your favorite apps for dual sim usage? I use GoContacs to maintain two groups of contacts, and Calender Pad to access two Gmail calenders. Still looking for a nice message app with dual sim support. Hope you can give some tips :).

Btw, the rebooting issue is probably caused by an app that crashes. Did you install an app that needed root support?

Multitouch and screen calibration are perfect. Battery life depends on the number of apps active on the background. For me it started with 2 days and is now less than 1 day, but I have way too many apps :p (over 70 now, of which a dozen is active).

I sent mine back last Friday. I don't think it has arrived at computeruniverse yet.

I've got no idea how long it will take. :(

Got an email back from computer universe:
unfortunately the phone is still unavailable so we recommend to contact Viewsonic in the Netherlands.
Maybe they can help you to assure that this is not a software problem.

You can contact Viewsonic Netherlands using the following contact details:

Netherlands

All ViewSonic Products

Phone: 053 484 9308

So I just did....

When the phone (again) is not available i will not be sending it back untill it is !
If I do, i am afraid it will take months to be replaced like the last time...
It is working, the line is just not a pretty sight...
I first wait what viewsonic Netherlands will advise..

Here's some of my favourite apps:
  • Go Contacts EX because I think it integrates better with the google contact groups
  • Business Calendar Free for my calendars (Google Agenda + exchange calendar)
  • JuiceDefender to save battery life. Battery life is indeed max 1 day without charging, so I bought few extra usb cables so I can easily charge the phone at work, home or in my car
  • Go Keyboard to type text. Seems like the best sliding keyboard around, saves me a lot of time!

I do have trouble adding my facebook and skype account in android account sync settings. When I try to add them, they just return to the accounts screen and nothing happens. Did you succeed in adding them?

Hi everybody,
I'm reading this thread since june: I was waiting for the wonderful VS350 but it seems to be a flop.

As time goes by, I'm now thinking to buy the FET T8888, BUT I've some doubts I'd like to clarify before buying it:
1) I know ZERO about android, I'm not a geek and don't wanna compile a single line of code. Is an android mobile ok for "normal" people ???
2) What is the BEST (finest) video resolution for this phone ?
3) Can it produce HD video ? If yes please specify (i.e. 1080x720i 30 fps or something else).

I'using a dual sim since 3 years, I have 2 GSM sim (no 3G needed but nice to have), and this phone seems to me the best choice available now, BUT I don't wanna get mad, crazy with android / linux problems: thus again my main big question: are android phones usable by "normal" guys ?:thinking::thinking:

ThanX in advance to anyone who answers me, and congratulation to this wonderful forum community.

Ciao :):):)

I don't use facebook, but I just downloaded skype to test the setting for you. You shouldn't put your skype account in the android account settings, but in the Skype app. It remembers your setting and you can sync with the app.

Hi, I ordered T8888 yesterday - hope everything will be OK :), for me android is intuitive and easy to understand as i tried it few times when playing with some friend`s android mobiles and tablets. I have now WM 6.5 and android is winner for me.

Hiya guys,

I've been looking for a good dual sim android phone for a long time and I've been keeping my eye on this thread. I registered to this forum just now to thank you all and add my 2 cents.

I've been waiting for the V350, but after some poor reviews in this thread I looked on and spotted the A60 on the wiki. I ordered it a few days ago from rockstoreonline.eu. Being dutch myself I thought it would be easier to communicate with a dutch seller and to return the product if necessary. They also deliver the phone rooted with complete android market and dutch language and keyboard installed like etotalk does, so I'm very happy with that. Too bad etotalk is €80 cheaper shipping to europe (without import tax) due to the cheap dollar, but oh well...

I'll let you know my experiences when I recieve the phone!

Hey guys,

Sorry it took this long, but I've playing around with my Lenvo A60 for about a week and a half now. Overall I think it could really be a great phone, but the guys of rockstoreonline put a custom rom on it that has a few flaws. However, I've been keeping in touch with them and I'm quite satisfied about their after care service. They told me they're working on a new image that they will also distribute to customers that have already bought the phone, but it might take a couple of weeks.

Alright... first the bad things...

  • There's one flaw that's really a pain. It's happened a few times that the #1 sim just won't call for a couple of hours. It just aborts before the phone even rings on the other end. I can send texts with that sim and recieve calls on that sim, but calls it aborts. Even with all data connections turned off. I think this might be a hardware problem, but I'll let the guys at rockstore figure it out first. Switching sims seemed to fix the problem, but then I don't have 3G on my sim with data subscription.
  • Another flaw was that the standard android agenda was missing. I tried to make that up by downloading another agenda app, but that app seems to use certain functionalities of the standard app. For instance, I didn't get any alerts before an event, just an empty notification saying "(no subject)". The guys at rockstore mailed me a file called calendar.apk that I was able to install and now it's ok.
  • The dutch dictionary doesn't work and the Multiling app that should support this somehow refuses to enter capital letters.
  • The numbers of some people calling me aren't recognized, even though I have them stored one of my sims. Most people's numbers are reconized though... weird...

Like I said though, overall it could be a really great phone (which is why I'll keep it for now and see what rockstore can fix)

  • The screen is beyond my expectations. Very clear and very responsive.
  • The performace is all I could wish for. Haven't had a single hickup.
  • Android 2.3.3 works really great.
  • The battery in my experience lasts for about 1,5 day, but this is with wifi, bluetooth, 3G and auto-rotation all on, and auto-syncing whatsapp, google calandar and hotmail (pushmail).
