I've now had my Eris for nearly two years and I figured I'd try and root my phone and make a few other tweaks to it hoping to improve performance. I used the "Universal Eris Root for Dummies" and successfully flashed GSB v4.1 CyanogenMod 7.1.0. Generally, everything works perfect, except, almost immediately, i notice that my phone will no longer charge my battery.
Before I go off and buy a replacement battery, I thought I'd post a thread to see if anyone has had a similar experience as me or might know a fix for this problem.
Some more details:
My wife also has an Eris. Her phone will charge both my battery and hers but neither battery will charge over 90% when connected. I think that is a sign that the batteries are getting worn out, but maybe still functional. If I plug my phone in when the battery level is at, lets say, 50%, it will stay at 50% (or slightly decrease) for a whole day, as long as I keep it plugged in. However, I can't get it to actually charge the battery. If I unplug the phone the charge drops very quickly.
I have tried both my wife's cord and my own; plugged it into the computer, the car, the wall, etc. with no success. I cant get my phone to charge either battery. Everyday before I go to work I take the battery out of my wife's phone and put it in my phone so that she can charge the other battery. I'm constantly swapping batteries because her phone is the only one that will charge the batteries.
Is there a tweak I can make to the phone to make it work properly?...or does the battery simple need to be replaced?
Is it possible that my phone is shot?
