oh interesting. i wonder if that means overclocking to 1.5ghz means the gpu gets overclocked as well :D

I was thinking that as well, but I'm probably not going to mess with it. If battery life is going to suck on this (as it does on all LTE phones at this point), I'm not going to risk overheating the thing just for another .3 GHz.

Or maybe I'll let you guys be the guinea pigs and see if you don't burn your phones up first. :p

Feel the same way, Chief! Isn't it awesome to wait so long for a beast, and NOT be disappointed?!

You bet! All the manic lows are behind us (well, most of them, anyway  ) and all we have to do now is:

a: wait for the Nexus
b: buy the Nexus
c: Ask Bionic owners how their phone's working out for them :p

I sure hope that November 3rd bit holds out. We're all so ready to fork over money and 2 years to Big Red!

Yep. I don't see me getting suicidal anymore. There have been hints that the LTE version will be "a bit" thicker, but a few mm won't matter, at least not to me. It'll still be thinner, probably, than the Bionic.

Man, I can't wait to rewatch LOST on that gorgeous screen. Bet you're salivating thinking about those Star Wars movies.

I was really thinking of the RAZR as a good fallback option yesterday afternoon, but now it seems like an old hag. Gingerbread? Ick.

...BTW, my walk around right now is a 24-70L. A camera phone is nice to have for quick pics. I WILL NOT be using it to take pics of my newborn that's due at the end of December...

Congrats on the baby! Also with regards to the camera in the delivery room, my wife watched this show on TLC I think where the dad dropped the camera phone on the baby while trying to take its picture... Lets be careful with the 50D ;)

Some of the more "negative" thinkers among us are. Oh well. I'm sure all will be revealed shortly. But there's zero doubt in my mind that it will be a Verizon exclusive for a while.

From last page:

I do, however, feel bad for Sprint customers. There wasn't any mention of Wimax versions.

It was fun coming in and talking to my iFanboy friend. Gave him a chance to get updated, and he goes on and on about how ugly ICS looks. I am like, whatever, what about the features. He wouldn't even address them, just went back to how beautiful iOS is... Apple is in trouble if that's all their most tech-savvy fans can muster in a debate over iOS.

Really? You're a photographer with "several DLSRs" and you think there's an advantage to packing more than 5 megapixels into a sensor that's probably somewhere around 1/8"?

I don't understand. What do you think the advantage is, here?

I mean, look at Canon's brand new, just announced, $7,000 flagship model. They dropped 3 megapixels off the 1Ds series even though they're using the same size sensor. Why? Well, sure, there are multiple reasons other than image quality, but the reality is they could not get away with doing this on their flagship pro model if megapixels were directly correlated with image quality.

There's a loose correlation but it assumes a lot of things, like a high quality sensor, excellent glass, good support, plenty of light...

As a fellow photographer, I'm always disappointed to see people involved in an industry propagating myths that we should really be working to dispel. Only once people are educated to the subject will the camera makers stop this ridiculous race to higher and higher megapixels, sacrificing image quality along the way.

Kinda fighting a losing battle.. In this day and age of the spec wars, people are far too focused on numbers to even begin to comprehend the insignificant relevancies of these things anymore. Its so much easier for people to say; this number vs that number, instead of looking at actual performance before ruling out whatever it is sometimes.

I myself was one of those guys completely hooked on the idea that I had to have a microsd in this device for me to purchase it. While I still really want it to have one, I will still give this device a chance for what it is. It many ways its a complete package of what i wanted in a phone (complete marriage of hardware and software), so its not hard for me to now look past the missing sd card slot, and view the package for what it more importantly offers-- literally everything else.

Then don't repeat it, I already know this but 5MP is still disappointing.

If you know, then it isn't disappointing. The fact that it's disappointing for you only highlights that you don't know.

On another subject, there's a lot of flak about the 1750 mAh battery. Something to think about: there's a school of thought that says higher performance gains you better battery life. Google "race to idle." Thus, it may well be that some of the performance suck from the LTE radio or the bigger screen may be offset by an accelerated OS which will reduce the amount of time the CPU has to work.

Just speculation, of course. I'm happy to see it has a replaceable battery, though.

Note!!!!!

So you will have some hope. It was fuer Saturn this comment. If it applys to Whole Germany I dont know.

His exact words where:

"der market fuer dieses geraet is zu klein (in Deutschland) daher denke ich wir werden es in Deutschland nicht sehen" das war wie ich gesagt hab vor 3-4 wochen.

hm.... i was hoping for the sgs2 lte hd... the note is (in my view) too large...

Thank you! If my pics and videos can get uploaded to a personal cloud or something (so they're not taking up memory space), then I'll be a happy camper without a microSD card. With that much memory, I should even be able to survive a trip to the in-laws...

I took my Droid out last night and set her on the desk so she could see her replacement for the first time. I think she approves. Am I going psychotic on this phone?

EDIT: If the Verizon version is slightly thicker for the LTE chip, what's to say that they won't drop a bigger battery in while they're at it?

Has it been confirmed that the LTE version will have the same 1750 battery? I thought this was still one of the outstanding questions about it. We know it will be thicker, but no confirmation if it is due solely to LTE radio or if battery is bigger as well.

Ugly? With that awesome TRON theme? Don't get me wrong, iOS is pretty, but ICS is sleek. Big difference. :p

Looks like the OMAP 4460 is downclocked to 1.2 GHz because of problems at 1.5, but the PowerVR540 GPU has been cranked up to 384 MHz.

Texas Instruments confirms Galaxy Nexus has newer OMAP4460 processor | Android and Me

I apologize for being clueless, but want to learn...what you wrote up there...is that a good thing for this phone or bad? I'm torn between this phone, the RAZR and the Rezound and I'm hearing all of this overclocked business and have no clue what all that means. I thought I was set with he Rezound, but last night has my head spinning!!! Thanks in advance.

LMAO! I won't be using the 50D in the delivery room :D My 2 year old was a c-section and this one will be as well. During the c-section some "thing" flew out at me and I literally had to duck to avoid it LOL!

Camera used that day and will be used for the next one is a Canon sx100 IS. This is what I had before I got my 50D when it was released

My opinion on the vz speculation, my vz source texted me yesterday afternon, she saw the two phones come across for release on Nov. 10th. She wanted to know why vz would do something like that....it not there norm she said.

So I've been thinking, besides the employees going nuts what would happen if vz released two major flagship phones on the same day?

Lines at every store, new customers lining up to get these great phones running the latest and greatest android os!

Verizon wants the media hype that would be created by releasing two flagship phones on their advanced LTE network, its all about marketing and growth of their business and this seems to be a great way to gain attention...lines of customers outside every Verizon store starting Nov. 10th!:D

Well, Steven's Love Tunnel did say it had a big battery, and the AC guy the other night was talking about a 2000mAh battery, so it's possible.

It's so good to have a removable battery, though, in case you want an extra one for to throw an extended one on there (although it might make it look like a camel).

Here's hoping it's a bigger battery than 1750. But if not, I'll deal with it. The other perks are way too numerous to be hung up on that for too long.

It depends on what you're using your phone for. If you're primarily a phone gamer, iPhone 4S will be the way to go, or just wait til next year.

If you do everything else pretty heavily but game only occasionally, I think you'll be satisfied with these specs.

But there are tech heads around here that will explain it better than I could. These are just my two cents.

Atrain, every processor runs at a certain speed, measure in cycles per second or Hertz (Hz). The OMAP 4460 is supposed to run at 1500 MILLION Hz, or 1.5 Gigahertz (GHz). It has apparently been underclocked to 1.2GHz to conserve battery.

"Overclocking" simply means that the user can root the phone, install custom programs that speed up the processor to 1.5, 1.8, 2GHz?

OMAP 4460 seems very smooth and quite good enough for me at the speed that it is. However: if my heavy streaming starts to take its toll and slow it down, I can overclock it and speed it up.

Hope this helps.

Haha, good idea. I had my XS for my third son, but was natural delivery, so not much worry for "things" flying around.

Well it is probably good for battery life that it is downclocked. The Rezound will surely be a good phone, and the RAZR was super impressive (almost amazingly so to me). But I would recommend the Nexus for many reasons, ICS being the biggest reason. The awesome HD superAMOLED screen and that quick-action camera are some other reasons.

That said, I don't think you can go wrong with any one of the 3 phones you are considering..
