. . . .
Back on topic: I want this phone oh so bad now! Just looking at the sleek look of it just sells me on it. . . . .

Same here. I'm staying away from the reviews and pictures of ICS because it will just drive me nuts.

iPhone is in a whole other league than the Nexus. Thats not a knock on the Nexus so nobody get excited. I'm saying the iPhone is a slam dunk when it comes to marketing and sales. The Nexus pales in comparison. It's not a heavily marketed phone and has a very specific market...

Barely any marketing dollars are thrown at it and until that happens it will sit at the back of the line in sales

I think you are underestimating Google's clout at this stage in the game. Android is outselling iOS by a wide margin.

If Google (who, by the way, is soon going to be the proud owner of Motorola Mobile Solutions, which happens to be Verizon's favorite) told Verizon, "Look, you either put out a pure Nexus device on your network, with no VZ crap on it, or we take Android with us and you can limp along on a platter of only iOS, RIM, and WebOS. . . .and by the way, we're taking away Motorola from you. . ." what do you think would happen?

No wonder Verizon was pissed at Google and Samsung, but could apparently do nothing. They have no leverage anymore.

Looking at the features, how much you want to bet Apple pushes the "face unlock" on the next Iphone and calls it revolutionary :p

Any idea what the battery life is compared to the Iphone 4 (trying to get an idea compared to friends Iphone on battery life).

Retina
scanning to secure the iPhone 5, yah that's what they will say...lol

Yeah I wouldn't consider him a source anymore. He should have mentioned that he hasn't touched the phone in months when he first started sharing his "information". He was giving us info like it was all up to date news...

No offense, but I don't think Steven would like you trashing his Love Tunnel. The guy might be tempted to come back and leak more info on upcoming devices, and then he sees comments like this, and decides not to.

Also, the info he leaked was probably 90% right anyway. AND, given that we haven't yet seen the Verizon version, he might be right on the specs that we think he was wrong on.

Just food for thought.

None taken but I also wouldn't listen to what the guy has to say after seeing he hasn't touched the phone since July. You know as well as I do that the phone and specs have changed many times since then.

Have the Nexi really sold millions? Not arguing, but I'd really be surprised if all the Nexi together sold 2 million. Seems more of a niche phone.

Other Nexus phones were marketed as developer phones and were not groundbreaking.

The Galaxy Nexus looks to be marketed towards the mainstream and takes the Android OS to another level. No other device compares to it. This is the reason why Verizon chose it over the Galaxy S2.

If Samsung and Google market the phone correctly, it will sell millions.

Has anyone ever attempted to persuade Verizon to give them an upgrade a month or two early? Is it possible?! I dunno if I can wait till the end of December!

It is definitely possible. A lot depends on your account history and amount, and on who you talk to. I have seen people get upgrades as early as 8 months after their last one on here.

He could also just be working on the Nexus assumption, which is probably a good one, but I would like to know more about how this is being done specifically on this device. There are rumors Google and everyone are being pushed for better security to get agreements for stuff like NFC and HD streaming of movies and such. Not to mention Moto said specifically Droid RAZR was locked FOR VZW. So if this is really unlocked and/or unlockable Moto has some real explaining to do.

I'm mobile and not sure if this was answered already but Motorola already confirmed the boot loader was unlockable/lockable on their UK RAZR

What is a barometer on a phone good for? Just curious. So like, you know the weather is about to mess with your sinuses and you can prepare for it ahead of time?

Yeah, not sure, seems like pure gimmickry to me. Maybe it will do its own short term forecasts in case you are without a data connection?

I agree completely. My point was that the iphone has a proven sales track record. The nexi don't, but could starting with this phone if marketed correctly. As such Google/Samsung don't have quite the clout that Apple does when dictating terms to carriers.

Some people still can't grasp the concept of a Nexus device. I understand that some of his may blow you Verizoner's minds, but show me a Nexus device that had bloatware on it. Show me a nexus device that is neutered by carriers.
I don't know what to tell you, but my stock Nexus One, purchased from Google, has a Facebook app on it, unremovable.

That is bloatware.

I get the feeling I could repeat this a hundred times and people wouldn't listen, but here goes:

The number of megapixels on your camera phone does not matter.

Please, read that again. And again.

The limiting factor in your camera phone is the physical size of the sensor and the lens. You aren't going to resolve much good detail past 5 megapixels, AND you will start contributing heavily to noise by shrinking the photosites.

The new iPhone 4S camera is great, but it is not great because it is 8 megapixels. It is great because it's a high quality sensor and a nice lens. It is great in spite of it being 8 megapixels.

I have printed poster-size with a Nikon D2h. That was a 4 megapixels camera. Those were 4 very high quality megapixels with the right glass on the camera. Having more, lower quality pixels is not the right way to approach cameras.

Some consumers only have the brain capacity to understand one number is bigger than the other thus must be better. It's sad but that's how we've been socialized by marketing these days so I'm not surprised you've had to explain this to many people. I've been doing the same on other non-Android forums.

Gizmodo has a nice article about this and makes some good points.
Why the Barometer Is Android's New Trump Card

That's funny. The author gets all keyed up for the possibilities that the sensor could bring to sites like Weather Underground, and then at the end there's an update from someone who actually works at Weather Underground who basically says "No, you're an idiot."

Sad face.
