Release Date

Anyone have a solid release date for the Holiday (or whatever they will call it at launch) on AT&T?

I am pretty sure I will buy this phone. I am off contract right now and ready to go. I have been waffling between Galaxy S II and HTC Holiday. I just dumped Sprint and fired up my old iPhone 3GS off contract so I can wait for the new phones coming over the next month or two.

I have even thought about the iPhone 5 but after using my 3GS for the last few days, I am REALLY missing my Evo 4G and Android as a whole. My iPhone has it's pluses for sure but it's just too restrictive for a device freak like me.

I have heard October and December..either way I am pretty certain we will see it in Q4

I think your real question should be Holiday or Celox...

Hmm, hadn't heard of this device until now. I just did some Googling and it seems it's going to be similar to the Galaxy S II but with LTE and I think a larger screen. Can't remember but I think the S II will have a 4.3 screen and the Celox is rumored to have a 4.5 which is what I am after.

I am a pretty big HTC fan after having the Evo and earlier HTC devices I owned that ran Windows Mobile (yuck). Also, HTC has a good root community which I enjoy.

So, in the end, if all things are pretty equal with the Celox and the Holiday I will opt for the Holiday. I think at this point the Samsung Galaxy S II is out for me since it's not LTE and either of the other two devices (Celox and Holiday) should have LTE.

Although I should know better about emerging tech, I still would rather have the capability than not. I know it might be hit or miss or I may use it very little just like 4G on Sprint (sucks in my opinion).

Also, I have heard September release but we are half way through and nothing yet. HTC is having a big press event on Sept. 20th so maybe an announcement then.

Thing is, I am about to throw up if I have to use this iPhone anymore. I am going to try and buy a low end Android for now so I can get off this iPhone until my new glorious device is released.

Dear respected community of android sages,

I was hoping to tap into your collective wisdom regarding a most vexing problem I am facing in light of all the impending releases of these spectacular phones.

If I buy the new galaxy or htc holiday how likely is it that the manufacturer will upgrade the OS to ice cream sandwich? If such an update is possible then how does a post-OS update galaxy or htc holiday compare to the nexus prime?
What am I missing out on if I purchase the holiday or galaxy and skip put on the chance to grab the prime, even if the former two devices are updated to the ice cream ?

Lastly will these three phones be the best as we enter the holiday season? Which one is the best and why?

Thanks,

Novice

There is never a guaranty that a phone will be upgrade, but HTC is usually pretty good about updates. With an October release it could be possible the phone will be released with ICS

I'd imagine it's because even before the SGSII was officially available stateside, it was still a known quantity and available from importers. Folks have had several months to froth at the mouth over this phone and now that they're finally here, they've got total tunnel vision.

I'd read that the Holiday would be a 4.5" where the Atrix 2 and SGSII are both 4.3". Not a big deal for some, but a huge deal for others. For me, as long as the device fits comfortably in my hands, I'm happy.

I'm thinking that the news will start to pick up on this one very soon, but that's purely assumption from me.

This is taking way too long. I still want the phone badly but shoot - that Nexus Prime or Galaxy Nexus whatever it's called, looks sweet with ICS. Seems like that will come out prior to the Holiday at this rate.

Yeah, I kind of agree. Starting to feel like I am chasing a Ghost.

Love my HTC products and hate whatever interface Samsung puts on the phones but I am getting real itchy here. The Galaxy S II is ready and waiting, I may just go get one. But, I am holding off a little longer.

Something with LTE and whatever that payment thing NFC, I think, would be nice. The Nexus may be the one but I need it on AT&T so who knows when that will happen.

When doing my daily searches on the net for this phone I came across this site stating that the HTC Holiday will come out in 8 days. I have been watching this site for a while to figure out their credibility and from what I've seen they have been spot on on their announced dates.

Although I did notice that their source for this information is TmoNews, which seems odd to me that they would know when At&t has a phone release... Also I looked on that site and couldn't find anything Holiday related.

What do you guys think?

it looks like they changed it as it says estimated oct 11 thru dec 11. That's not much of a leak if you ask me. LOL If it doesnt come out this year, it will already be obsolete. :)

Apparently it was a false alarm. They did claim 9/26 but if you go to the source they posted it was for the htc ruby on t-mobile... I think I'm going to switch networks... At&t's android selection is a joke, even t-mobile has a better phones out and coming out within a month than AT&T! I'm only with them because I'm grandfathered in for unlimited databut without a nice up to date phone of which to exploit that with, it's useless. I'm annoyed as hell right now.

I really can't stand how sometimes these most anticipated AT&T bound phones make their way around the world without AT&T saying anything. First heard it to be released in S. Korea, then in Australia, and now Canada! When the hell is this phone getting to the U.S. It almost feels like it's getting old. On the other hand, that Moto RAZR looks impressive...but obv not AT&T.

RAZR Droid will not be AT&T, but the FTC has been sent a Moto phone with the same battery as the RAZR but on AT&T Frequencies. If there is an AT&T version I think this will be the phone I go for.
