this is what I thought I was going to do before I got the phone, but the reason why I don't take everything in 3d is because the 3d pic split into 2 and uploaded onto places like facebook look horrible and really low quality :(

Why don't you have the phone convert it into 2D then upload that, instead? Long press on the photo, tap edit, then tap convert to 2D.

thanks, I'm quite surprised that i didn't know we could do that! But surely it would have the same low quality outcome? So far i've been using the software that's been explained somewhere on this forum that batch converts the 3d pics into their left and right versions, and then uploading the better looking of either the left or right picture.
If I convert into 2d on the phone like you said, will the pictures look any better than through the process i mentioned above, is there any type of upscaling performed?

(sorry for going a bit off topic but it's been bugging me for a while!)

The photos I've converted have the same quality of the 3D pictures sans the 3D aspect.

Shouldn't that make it easier for HTC to update since sense has many of these features? And do you have a link for this information?

No, Sense uses the Sense framework, not the Google framework. I'm sure they're coded in different ways and are not easily ported to the other.

Looks like HTC is evaluating whether or not to update to ICS at all. Many of the features are stuff that Sense has already, but there are a few new ones I'd like to see on our phones.

i really don't think there's any chance that HTC is going to skip the update for ICS for the 3vo. there would be a HUGE outcry from owners if such a powerful phone, only released in late june in the US (and much later elsewhere) didn't get an update released mere months after the launch of the phone.
also aren't google trying to get companies on board to try and support their phones at least 18 months after release, if hardware allows it, to combat fragmentation?

I saw the improvements...and I will be rooting if it is available that route with Sense 3.0. I've become a fan of Sense and I cannot imagine life without it. The thought of going to pure vanilla flavor scares me!

I'm impressed with the improvements they have made. Still, nothing that makes me feel like my perfectly functioning 3V0 needs to be updated any time soon.

It'd be rather foolish for HTC to not upgrade the Evo 3D/Sensation to ICS. Sprint is still marketing the Evo 3D pretty well. The Sprint Store that I pass every day on the way to work still has a sign that says "Come on in and get your Evo 3D today!" and has had that up since release. So, either they're lazy, or Sprint still wants the Evo 3D to sell. Or "Evo 3D" fits on the sign better than "Epic 4G Touch". Either or...

But still, how many people do you think would avoid buying HTC products if Samsung put ICS on the GS2 and HTC didn't do the same for the Evo 3D/Sensation. Not every carrier has a new HTC variant with ICS on the way just yet.
