***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

EXCELLENT question and it's no problem you asking me it.

Since the announcement of the RAZR and the Nexus I've taken a step back and analyzed both devices. I'm leaning heavily towards the RAZR right now and just may pick it up on the 27th. That may or may not change. I'll monitor the Nexus and make my decision by October 27th.

I have kept my OG Droid until now ONLY because of the fact it was flat simple to keep the latest and greatest google OS on it and I am guessing it will even get ICS once it hits AOSP just like the Nexus are in a hacked way already from the development stuffs. This is reason alone for me to choose Nexus. Unless of course it's the first ever all locked up. At that point I leave Verizon rather than get another device with them though.

Are you serious? People made it known that they wanted the nexus device on Verizon wireless. Through twitter. I don't condone spamming email or being rude in any way. Since when is it childish to make a company know that the public wants something?

Are petitions childish too? I had people sign a petition when i lived at my parents house to have access to DSL. I doubt the person who opened the envelope felt they were being harassed. But it became known that enough people wanted the service that they made it available

I sent a "respectful" email. Didn't know the twitter push was going on thought. Good job to everyone who helped. :D

Later this Year????? Ughhhhhh, come on Verizon! You people know what that means right...Any Thursday between Dec 1st-29th! Earliest is Black Friday I'd say.
So much for VZW bringin the heat quick.

I'd imagine they're going to give the Razr a full 30 day run or so before they release this.

No offense meant, but why do you care? I've seen you say in many threads you haven't been impressed by this phone or ICS and you probably aren't getting the phone. I'm curious why it's an issue for you that there's no release date? As someone who is getting this phone I'm happy as can be they finally announced it.

We will get confirmation on storage, price and release/pre order dates. One step at a time people

I get that. I'm just sort of over the whole need to flash ROMS. I think 4.0 will level the playing field and the NEED won't be so great. Always nice to own an open handset but the RAZR just MAY be too much for me to pass up.

I love the Nexus but I don't know if I could handle the build quality for 2 years. I own glocks, sigs and the moto droid :) There's just something about an industrial look and feel. Crazy I know but aesthetics play a real important role when I choose a handset.

Regardless, every ones happy and gets what they want. Nothing better than that. If I leave I made some good friends in these parts of the woods. I shall weep for the loss of the Nexus and some good peeps.....

CK you may want to just wait for the quads to hit at CES in January and see if any of those trip your trigger (or twist your panties, if you prefer ;) )
My war is almost over brother :) It's time to come home...no more waiting. I can use my other upgrade next year if something comes along (I have 2 in my pocket right now)

Agree on the RAZR build 100%. Whole reason VZW's device practices annoy me so much. I would take it over the Nexus in a HEARTBEAT if it was EXACTLY as is GB and all, but had an open/unlockable BL.

I think Google is just as motivated and aggressive with Android as ever and figure actually that new OS versions will be MORE desirable than new devices SOON. We are getting to the point the device can handles about whatever you need, but I tend to expect each new android release to open up things we just weren't really thinking about while not really requiring more device hardware wise. Stopping OS updates may also turn into a way to sell new hardware that isn't really all that much more capable really, but with new OS. We'll see I guess.

Seems to make sense. VZW probably wants the Nexus to be "modified" with VZW stuff and probably not as open as currently designed. Seems the 16gb is what will ship (if two year is $300), but considering "later this year", plenty of time to debate and speculate more.

BTW, so much for those "VZW staff have already had training" and Nov 3rd or 10th speculation. They were probably confusing the training for the keyboard phone recently released.

I give it about 12 hours of euphoria before the masses start foaming at the mouth again.

Figure this will keep it more reasonable until at least 11/3 though. End of year is a bit funny though. Although even Google only really said "November", which sorta suggested they were announcing a good bit early also. Wonder what AOSP date will be? That wasn't discussed at all and have been a bit curious about all this ever since Honeycomb never went there.
