yea, i just dont think they can sit a 16gb nexus with a 5mp camera in the same building as a 16gb iphone with an 8mp cam and charge an extra $100 for it and expect it to sell,, LTE or not. we all know that numbers arent the whole picture, but when it boils down to it, 95% of customers dont know that.

you are assuming they even care about being competitive with this phone. I am not so sure. Plus they could think that with demand so high, that they can charge a little more.

and you are assuming they dont want to be competitive. one thing im sure we can all agree on, they dont want ANY phone, regardless of what it may be, taking up shelf space and store resources if they dont want it to/care if it sells

edit: and using that demand being high = higher price theory, im sure iPhones would be far more expensive than they are at launch(see preorder numbers for ip4s)

I have a problem with emailing them, strictly because that is their work email, and I don't feel requesting info on a phone release is a worthy reason to interrupt their day. That is what front line customer service is for. Contacting executives should be limited for serious issues that front line employees could not or refuse to resolve. If everyone contacted execs for every little thing, they will just firewall the email address and reduce the effectiveness of that action.

You are correct about front line customer service but as we know they range from unknowledgeable to down right apathetic.

If the higher ups want to be left alone maybe they should train and educate the employees better.

And I am all for contacting them when front line fails you, like I said. But front line was performing as trained by not answering the question, and a phone release is not something we are entitled to have info for. Verizon released the info today because they felt it would be a good PR move. Not because we forced them to. They had every right to do as they pleased, and so I don't feel interrupting execs day to ask about it is a worthy use of their email system.

Why wouldn't we be entitled to know the release date of a product we are going to buy, many of us at full retail?

Let's agree to disagree. ;)

I've said numerous times, in numerous threads that I will most likely get both the Galaxy Nexus and the DROID Razr and see which one I like better!

And the reason why I care is...

Ok, well, enjoy the phone you're not impressed with on the new OS you wanted more out of, lol :p

I can understand that about the resale, but all used phones are going to take a hit once the GN is released because everyone will be trying to dump their device.

Anyone notice that it looks like they bumped the Razr up to 10/27? That should clear the way for the Nexus just fine.

ive posted this on the last page, but the razr actually starts preordering on the 27th, which could very well mean that the nexus wont start preorders until the 10th with a 1-2 weeks preorder period before actual release

i dont think anyone is sayng it wont be $299, the debate comes as to whether it will be the 16gb or 32gb version that is $299

Exactly. The more i think about it, the less i think that Verizon would get both of them. And i doubt they would release the 4G model on LTE with only 16gb. I'm thinking $299 for 32gb.

The RAZR matches everything here except ICS/Buzz and 4.65" display, but has similar display and MASSIVELY more sxy build/material quality and will get ICS in a few months if you aren't too impatient in that respect as GB is pretty good already. I want the nexus, but I would be more likely to buy a casio than a Rolex also as that material/build aspect doesn't do much for me if the cheaper is just as durable for the length I intent to keep the product.

BTW, RAZR is $299 with 32gb of total memory and a 32gb SD will get you to 48gb since 16gb is internal.

Razr does not have the 4460 either, so two substantial differences. The lot price of the 4460 must have been prohibitive enough for Motorola to OC a 4430 instead.

Don't know if there would even be reason for him to know but I'd be curious if Steven's source heard anything about the execs with the emails and twitter.

If this isn't going to be a highly marketed product by VZW, I'm not sure there even would be a pre-order period. The Bionic got some marketing support and didn't get a pre-order period at all.

With regard to the RAZR, remember that page is the MAP. The RAZR will obviously begin advertising when pre-orders begin. So I don't think that's gonna tell you the release date.
