Me Too,
They go all out to make a thin phone and we slap a huge case on. I will try a Steinhil Ultra Crystal if they make one only because sometimes I'll forget I have keys in the wrong pocket.

Just put your phone in your pocket with your keys. By the time you get scratch number 2, you won't worry about scratches anymore. Peace of mind.

The screen has gorilla glass so it won't get scratched unless you have a diamond ring in your pocket.

Putting a cover over your phone is like putting plastic over a sofa. It will always look and feel crappy even if you buy a $10,000 sofa. It is better just expect some normal wear and tear and enjoy using it the way it is meant to be.

A naked phone will always look and feel better than anything with a cover, even if your phone is covered with scratches The phone is only suppose to last for two years anyways, so there is no point preserving its pristine state when you will never use that way.

There was a couple that camped out for, I kid you not, 18 freaking days.
First in Line at NYC Apple Store Turns Down $1,500

That would literally be like if one of us camped outside a Verizon store from now until the Nexus released on November 10...

The obviously do not have jobs, or at least if they do, they don't get paid much. Then again, maybe they spent the two weeks that they do get for vacation waiting for the iphone.

My Dinc is used nekkid, but it goes into the thin leather Sena case when pocketed.

I don't bother with cases. I wear some tight pants sometimes and the thickness is too annoying. Couple that with the fact that if it's a thinner case it's silicone, so it becomes hard as hell to get out of your pocket to begin with.

I don't understand it anyway. It's not like I bubble wrap my car, and it's worth a lot more than my phone. You take a risk, but it's not that hard to just not drop your phone.

Totally agree!

This made me curious... as this is the first phone I'm buying on launch day... when do screen protectors and cases start coming out for new phones? Is there going to be any made for it available at/before launch?
Trust me. All accessories will be available day 1.

Verizon wants nothing more than to sell you a bunch of overpriced accessories, and with you in the store all excited for your purchase, it's the perfect time to pounce.

Wait a few days and get genuine Samsung power and car chargers for a fraction of the price on the web.

But I'll probably spring for some screen protectors too, at least until I can get a Steinheil CrystalClear protector.

2 things to keep in mind.

1) Gorilla glass scratches too, and not only with diamond. Sand has a higher hardness and will scuff it up pretty good. Plus it's not only scratches, but chips.

2) The GNex does NOT have Gorilla glass. It uses another fortified glass. Verdict is out whether it will be much better, or much worse.

I'm hoping to find another soft sleeve similar to what Google put out with the Nexus 1. It's just a simple soft black pouch with an Android robot logo on it. Personally that's all I used for my Incredible so it wouldn't get scratched by anything I happen to have in my pocket. Not to mention it provided some minimal shock absorption when I dropped it a couple times and it was still in the sleeve.

I would love to find a sleeve / pouch just like that or very similar for the G Nexus. I refuse to do screen protectors or big bulky cases, because they take away from the nice design of the phone. Anyone know where they sell pouches / sleeves like that? I doubt Google will be sending one in the box like they did with the Nexus 1.

My Dinc started out in the N1 case, but the fit became loose so I looked elsewhere.

If you want simple pocket protection that looks nice, check out Sena. Not cheap products, but their Ultrathin case does the job that I ask of it.

Not a Sena employee, etc.

Me either so now there's two of us.

Three.

However.... if its the 16gb version my position changes.

I'm using a 16gb card and I've only ever once used more than half of that so to me this is not an issue either.

The wait till February is going to feel excruciatingly long

I don't think I'll make it till then. After Christmas probably but no way till Feb. I will stoop to using feminine charms on store managers to let me upgrade early if necessary.

But accidents happen. I went well over a year, even dropped my phone a couple times and nothing happened but one time it hit the ground the wrong way and went smoosh.

I have 14 days to put this baby through her paces. I am ready to get all the accessories DAY ONE (car dock, desk dock, car charger). Call me all-frills, spend-happy, wasteful, whatever... but I'm going all out on Launch Day and yes, Verizon will be very happy to see me.

All in, huh. You certainly know what you want. Awesome.

I'll take a look at what they have and if there are any deals or bundles. The docks you rarely find for much less, but the cables are just a complete waste of cash.

Wondering about this crowd - phone: cased & armored or nekkid? How will that xlate to the Gnex?
In large part this will depend on accessories available. I lean towards putting it in a case if a good one is available. I had Ghost Armour on my TB but it peeled off at the edges to the point where I took it off. Dropped my phone and it now has permanent marks on it. Bought a Seidio with a holster and I have no complaints. I could never deal with having a phone in my pocket. I think it's a generational thing.
It's going to be hard parting with it but I'm looking to get the Dodge Challenger SRT 8 next year.
^^^^ I like your style...and this would look very good sitting in my garage next to my '66 Dodge Charger!
I appear to be in the minority... but if we get the 32gb version on VZW I really don't care if it has a microSD slot.
Me too. I hope this is what we get. Big difference between 32 and 16.
No, your not, I have never came close to loading my 16GBin my OG. I'll never remove the cover. I hope? Battery pulls?
Please, for the love of (whatever REALY important to the reader fits here) make it so I don't have to pull the battery in this baby at all, let alone 3 TIMES A DAY like I do with the TB! Please!
And to everyone who talks football occasionally I'm a Colts fan so you can all suck it. I'll just pour myself another scotch before kickoff.....
Try being a Browns fan...

Okay, Dexter is on. Gotta go watch my wife's niece do her magic playing Debra Morgan! Go Jennifer Carpenter! Let's hope we get some good leaks this week. 'Night all.

Okay, maybe not the car charger. I can buy that OEM online and save what? A few bucks after shipping?

I drool every time I see your avatar. I went to the Adirondack Car Show this year and spent the weekend floating from being around all the classics.

If ya got em flaunt em right? :D:p

I don't do it often but when I want something bad enough....... :p

As far as accessories, I definitely try to avoid buying at Verizon.

What exactly do you have to wait till February for?

If the poster is like me that's when our NE2 is available.

Terminology disconnect.

What I have been calling a case is actually a thin leather pouch. I don't like the snap on or stretch on cases either due to the bulk.

I recall all the sweet accessories being released for the Droid X. Motorola has a way of creating accessories that everyone wants. Docks, window mounts, EVERYTHING. We got very little that wasn't "manufactured" by other Dinc owners. How does Samsung do in that category. Personally I will never give Moto another dime. I think they make pieces of crap. But at least they know how to get accessories out.

For your reading convenience I highlighted the portion of my post that was actually important in red.
