Help Maximum SD capacity?

Hi,
I just bought an HTC Magic and I want to buy a microSDHC card for it. What's the biggest size supported by HTC Magic? 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, etc.?
Thanks!

Think it should be the same as the Dream ... and also should be listed in your phone documentation under Specifiacations ....

I have been using the Dream with 16GB since its release ... believe that it will handle 32GB but they just aren't available ... yet ..

Recommend that what ever size you get ... spend the extra money for the fastest Class 6 ...

Hey, first post. I was looking to get a 16gb (class 6) sd card. As suggested above. Looking online they all seem to be sdhc cards, and slightly differently shaped (notches at bottom). Are these the cards I should be buying now?

Cheers guys,

The proper TYPE regardless of Memory Capacity is a MicroSD Generally a MicroSDHC is going to be a class 4 or class 6 ... class 2 being the slowest ...

All are useable ... but if one plans on running AppsToSD then Class 6 is recomended ...

As long as it's SDHC your magic will support it. Typically the documentation will only specify the largest size available at the time or recommended size for performance issues.

I got a 16GB Class 2 and it works fine. I do notice a little slow down when it's first loading stuff, so I would recommend a class 4 or higher.

Read rates are not spec'd .. the Classes of the MocroSD cards only refer to the Write speed ... the read speed is not normally specified not readily available ...

I'm wondering if the SanDisk Ultra SDXC 64GB would work in the HTC magic?

If it works, what file system am I supposed to use? exFat doesn't work right? So Will I have to, like use partition magic to force a 64gb fat32 partition?

I have no experience with android 2.1 or any version for that matter, still awaiting delivery of my first android phone. The HTC Magic (unbranded, naturally)

It is my understanding that the 64gb card will not fit in the Magic. This is on the back of a fair bit of research I did myself on this question, because I wanted to get the biggest card I could.

I ended up getting a 32gb card, and as KenLee suggests earlier, the phone does struggle a little with the bigger cards. I actually had a 16gb card before and that was no problem, not prohibitively slow for me, but with 32gb it is quite noticable, plus the card periodically comes up as having a fault and needing reformating - which you can usually (touch wood) resolve by switching the phone off and on. (I dont think this is a problem with the card as I sent the first one I had back for doing this and the replacement did the same thing.)
