Naked Hero

I've carried my Hero in cases and with two different screen shields. I'm the happiest when the phone is not in a case and will not use another screen shield. I really like the feel and slimness of the phone and the smoothness of the screen. I kind of appreciate it for what it is. Of course accidents happen. I do quite a bit of reading on this forum for my own knowledge and education. There are may opinions on cases and screen shields. What I would like to know is if anyone carries and uses the phone as it is. Please inform me if you do. Thanks,TC.

Mine is naked but I did attach a leash just in case. I like the feel of the surface and the smooth glass. I also have the HTC leather side holster. I plan to upgrade in December again and give this one to my wife so I want to keep it in fairly nice condition.

Mine has always been naked since the pre-release day at Best Buy (Mid Oct?). I keep it in my front pocket, usually jeans. It is the only thing that goes in that pocket, except an occasional credit card receipt. No scratches. I haven't dropped it. I also like the overall feel, the size, and the screen, as it is.

I just took of my Hero's clothes. Much sexier. I was unhappy with my BoxWave crystal because the edges didn't stick and not only looked bad but also collected dust. After watching this, YouTube - HTC Hero Scratch Test I'm ok with not using a screen protector. I tested it myself with a knife too. Then for fun I tested my very old LG VX6000. Scratched the hell out of it.

You arent going to be loving life when it one day slips out of your hand and cracks on the pavement which it will. I think its a terrible idea to not have some kind of case on it. Besides, I like how my black case looks. Looks much more sleek and polished in black.

Thanks for the link. I agree, it is pretty tough! If I had tried that with my old Instinct, it would be bad.

I dropped mine on the pavement today... facedown! I have the soft plastic cover from Sprint. It bounced off the pavement with no scratches! So I guess it pays to have clothes on it...

Yep. Like me with my camera lenses. No way I set foot outside without a filter on mine. FAR better to crack a $50 filter than a $1200 lens. Just have to find a case you like, I love mine.

If you YouTube the press confrence for when the hero came out they explain that the screen is designed not to have a protector on it. I keep mine naked and in my pocket with my keys, change, charger, pens and not one scratch. I hate the way protectors feel.

I've never had a screen protector on mine, but I do like the way it feels in the silicone case i have (cheap but reasonably thick one from ebay) It just feels to small for my big hands without it on. That and I have had it drop face down on the pavement when getting out of my work van twice now, no damage anywhere, just bounced like a ball. Even with the silicone case on it still fits in the leather case I purchased for it, although, it was a little tight at first.

Right but the body is not. One drop on concrete and its going to get at least scuffed up and possibly chipped. I would prefer my $7 case take that hit, much cheaper to replace

Thanks. I've thought about these from Sprint. I've had the hard two piece plastic ones. I looked at the Seidio's but the seams in the pictures do not fit flush together. Are the Sprint ones really soft or semiflexable?

Its rubber. Very flexible. It catches sme lint behind the phone but its wasy to clean.

Thank you! I upgrade every year. The pace of technology is just amazing. This isn't a phone I have to live with for years and I do have the Sprint insurance. I try to enoy it for what the manufacturer designed and the phone case is really nice. Why have something if you cannot enjoy it and have to worry about every little nick. Thanks again. TC

I've got one of the "rubberized" hard cases on mine, mainly because I like the way it feels better than the "naked" back of the phone (that and I have on in pink, one in purple, and one in blue, to match my hair ), and it makes it a little thicker, which is more comfortable to use. Plus I was getting fingerprint spots on the battery cover, probably because of lotion on my hands and my fingers always being in the same place. It also makes it easy to tell my phone apart from other ones, because at least 5 people that sit near me have the Hero.

i have the 3500 mah battery so i have no choice but to carry it naked i wish someone would atleast make a case i can clip to my belt like a nice leather flip cover anybody know of one that will fit with the 3500mah battery?

I got my black case off Amazon for like 20 cents, so around 2 bucks total for it to be shipped to my house. they have a HUGE selection of other kinds, too. I have yet to drop mine, though

Mine has never had any case or screen protector. Cases always seem bulky and ugly. Screen protectors don't have the right feel for me. I had a screen protector on my Instinct, but it was hard to slide your finger across the screen.

My Hero is always in my front pocket, and rarely anything else in that pocket. It has bounced on pavement and concrete a few times and has no visible damage to it.

I have a black HTC silicon case that I bought but didnt like it it. Makes the phone to thick for me. Mine is "naked". I just keep it in my pocket. I've never dropped it but I do have a scratch in the top left part of the screen. Not exactly sure from what but there is one there.
