Root Boost is updating the prevail to 2.3 gingerbread next week

Anyone heard this or has it been mentioned yet? I just left the Boost store and paid my bill and the lady said that sometime next week the update will be sent to the prevails. So I got some questions because she said that she is not sure if its an automatic update or not. Does anyone know if this update IS automatic will it wipe out root on our phones and delete our themes and such? Also if it does wipe out our stuff will we be able to re. Root or will we have to wait on the devs. To work on getting our stuff back? If its not automatic I think I may wait for some people to do the update and see what all happens and what you can and can't do. To be honest I'm loving the way my phone is setup right now and even if better stuff is available I still kinda want to enjoy what I got right now for the time being

updates are sent to your phone and tell you there is an update available. it most likely going to happen thats why i found the opensource code for it a few days ago.

Yeah I saw that after I posted. Its nice to see us coming up in the world. Its great that Boost is giving is GB. I guess they figured they were being outdone buy everyday people so decided to give us the upgrade lmao

Considering the last time Boost updated the prevail from EE13 to EE14 root was lost then. Root, themes, and mods will have to be redone since they will be completely changing the OS from Frozen Yogurt to Gingerbread. Personally I will still be rocking Cyanogen(GB) and ShabbyMod(Froyo). However if the update helps improve CM7 faster that's great. Not sure if Shabby would update his ROM to GB. My son turns 3 tomorrow and he has a newborn daughter, which does keep one very busy. He might put out 1.0 first before switching to GB. We shall see.... Can't wait til I can space these posts out lawl.

soo will it be better than Hroark's version? whats the diff?

Right now, all it will be is basic stock Gingerbread. It will basically be just an update to the stock ROM. The dialer, music, and other things will be tweaked for the better from Froyo, but it will be just stock. Now that the GB source code is out, Shabby and Blood will be able to upgrade to Gingerbread, and hroark will be able to keep working his magic with the Cyanogenmod port.

LOL ! Just when I was getting my Prevail where I wanted it . If I do decide to change , It'll be a while or at least until it's brought up to the level of my prevail as it sits now . :D

Yep yep :) I agree

I would be willing to bet that hroark13's work made them seriously consider this as they don't want the common people out doing them LOL

so pretty much once this all goes down and devs get busy. phone will better and faster than cm7?

No, it means that hroark's port of CM7 can be refined even more, Shabby if he so chooses, can come out with a Gingerbread based Shabbymod, and Blood can come out with a GB based CTMOD. Our phones are hardware limited to just 800 mghz, so its up to the devs to streamline the available ROMS to run faster on our limited phones.

I kind of get this feeling that they are putting this out because they dont want us running CM7 that does not have all their CIQ and security stuff embedded in it

I may be wrong about that, its just a hunch

Actually that's a good hunch but it still makes me crack up. They k know we already do everything that they never wanted so. If they give us this they are just letting you guys do more and more with these phones so they done bumped thier head. If that's what they are thinking.
