Welcome to the forums, modster! :)
Thanks :)
No one is going to flame you for waiting to buy it until the price goes down. At least not me. I am just happy there is an interest. As far as transferring unlimited data, good luck! I would guess it would be a no. So you probably have to talk him into giving you his number. But I don't know, so VERIFY!
I think the only way you could get his unlimited data is by taking his line and number since the data won't transfer between lines. He wouls lose his number though and get yours.
and thank you to :)
Do you know if verizon allows you to switch numbers?
Also, I was joking 'bout the flaming thing (looking back I do see how it doesn't look like it). Doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would happen here.

Don't quote me on this, but I wouldn't be surprised if some retailers have specials during the holidays.

Browser traffic is just one type of data usage, and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't eat up much bandwidth. The data that a carrier would see wouldn't be user agent strings like what identify browsers. There are ways to analyze data so that an ISP or a proxy can do packet shaping among other things. I just don't know how practical or possible it is for someone like VZW to monitor data in this fashion to definitively say it's PC traffic instead of traffic from the device.

EarlyMon, just out of curiosity, were you using one of those "black market" tethering apps, or one available on the regular market?

If the GSM version is being sold by other retailers for AT&T, would there be advertising for the GSM version or would one just have to call or visit the store to see? How did it work with the Nexus S?

It was sold only thru best buy if I remember correctly

And if it wasn't a joke one of our kindly mods would step in and squash it fast
(although it's rare for them to have to do it for that in here)

I have to say, it is so different here than on some other forums i've frequented. Try asking a simple question on Gamefaqs and watch what happens. They treat each other like crud over there.

Yep, I can tell that that sorta thing doesn't fly here, and meant no implications about the quality of the moderation or the inhabitants of this forum. I guess I already said it wasn't to be taken seriously, but just want to be sure my meaning isn't mistaken. aaaaaanyways, I was thinking google voice might be able to somehow make it easier, so did a little looking up of stuff and found this How to Port Your Number to Google Voice Without Paying an Arm and a Leg
so basically looks like it'll be a crapshoot that all depends on whether the person from verizon I talk to is nice or not, so basically
Modster, I'd say if you got lucky and talked to a really nice CSR, you could probably get it pulled off. I highly doubt that VZW would do it without pulling teeth though. Never hurts to give it a shot though!

edit: i think I made it sound worse than it is, its looking like its not a given but wouldn't be impossible given some time and maybe a little frustration

Believe it or not it was like that here at one time. We've put a lot of effort into changing that though. Rob and Phases wanted to make sure that this is a place for someone that is completely new to smartphones just as much as it is for the ultra tech geeks among us. The rules and policies they set in place have really made things work the way they should. I'm proud to be a mod here and I have to say that you guys and girls make it easier. :D

Welcome to the forum modster!

Google voice is a great way keep your number and can even be set up to offer unlimited calling and texting if you have the friends and family program with Verizon.

I've just used my extra hour of sleep tonight to catch up in here today. What great news we got! Props to halon for finding that training material info! We've now got our confirmation of a 32gb Nexus!! And there was even some brief cleavage commentary! What a night! Now I have enough info to make a decision on whether to cancel my RAZR preorder tomorrow. I actually got to play with one at a BJ's Verizon today and must say that it's a nice device. Definitely a great time to be a Verizon customer with choices like these. If a pic of the standard dock for the GNex would emerge, that'd be the icing on the cake.

A big shout out to all the mods, sources, and fellow forum followers who make this place fun and exciting. :D

HAHA, yeah, definitely some earth-moving news tonight ;)

Yeah, no one's hurt on this one. It's going to sound pretty lame to the California GNexers. Sounds like it's going to come down somewhere between 5.2 and 5.8.

It's still one of the biggest, if not THE biggest in OK history :)

We always say anything under 5.0 isn't worth waking up (to out of state-ers), but in reality even a 4 gets us abit riled up. I think were Wayyy over do for a big one, 6.5+ God forbid anything over 7
