Bought a Dodge Ram truck yesterday, and when I tried to get my phone to work with the uconnect system, it did not work.

The phone would pair, but it would not "connect." Don't know what the difference is. At one point I received a call from somebody while in my car and the phone's bluetooth was on. When I answered the handset, the person on the other line came through the car speakers, but it was scratchy and she couldn't hear me very well. All subsequent calls only came in on the handset.

Anybody else experience issues like this? I called the support number for the uconnect, and they guy told me that the Eris was not on the compatibility list. Anybody else have experience with this?

Same problem but with incredible. Worked for day but then quit. Did new paring did not help.

Don't know anything about the incredible, but I later found out that whatever bluetooth version is loaded on the Eris is not "hands free." This means it won't work. This might also explain why I couldn't use my bt headset for the voice recorder.

Whatever. This phone blows. I went back to my old Blackberry and will be getting an iPhone in September when my new every two is up with Verizon.

Good luck sorting it out.

I just purchased an HTC EVO Slide last week and then tried to connect to my 2010 Dodge Ram Uconnect. It would never hold a connection. It would connect for a few minutes and then disconnect. After speaking with Uconnect's Customer "NO SERVICE" department, they were absolutley no help and could not answer a single question. They just keep refering me back to the Dodge dealership, which knows nothing about their Uconnect. Turns out the phone is not compatible, so I sent the phone back.

This week I got the Samsung EPIC phone. The good news is that it pairs and connects with the Uconnect with no problem. Bad news is I cannot upload my phone book to the Uconnect!

I'm about ready to go back to my Blackberry Tour and say the hell with it, it just works. The real problem here is with the $300.00 piece of $h!t Uconnect that you can't get any updates or support on.

This week I got the Samsung EPIC phone. The good news is that it pairs and connects with the Uconnect with no problem. Bad news is I cannot upload my phone book to the Uconnect!

I know the frustration as I had similar problems. Once I got a phone that would hold a connection with UConnect (B-berry), I noticed that my phone book would not load. Then I started just using the phone to initiate a call. After completing the call I would see the icon that said my phone book was downloading (which takes a while). Might want to try this. Now, sometimes my phone book will synch if I connect the phone and leave it be for a while. I think it just needs an inordinate amount of time to do it.

And I agree about Dodge and UConnect customer service. They don't understand the problem and are therefore uselss.

The really wierd thing is that the phone book will upload a few contacts but will not recognize the persons name. I will ask me if I want to "accept" the contact, then I have to speak the persons name and confirm it in order for the contact to save in the phone book. I have 120 contact and I would have to go through that entire process for each contact. There is probably a error in the fields in the databases between the two units.

Even beside the connection issues, the Uconnect is still a piece of $h!t with it's terrible voice recognition and picking up "wind/background noise" in the mic so bad that people on the other end have a hard time hearing. I've rented a ton of other make vehicles and their hands free bluetooth systems were awesome. I'm just really pissed over the No Customer Service...

According to htc/ford and chrysler, the evo is not yet compatible with ford sync or chrysler's u-connect. I have both and i'm waiting for the upgrade htc says is coming soon. You should not have to mess around with deleting contacts and linking and all that stuff. The system should connect reliably and download your phone book and not disconnect the bluetooth.

I will rejoice when the upgrade finally arrives.

Hello,
To anyone using the HTC EVO 4G, Shift and others (these were the only 2 that I have been able to test that were having problems). I have tested a new SW for HTC and the Uconnect system. HTC was send the phone book download in an unsupported way and causing the hands free kit to reset. (this was true with many other kits other that Chrysler, ex: Ford, GM,BMW, Toyota, Blue tooth ear buds etc). The SW version was for Android 2.3, it tested good for the phone section however the streaming audio still was sounding choppy. This is because HTC ( and others) want to try to give you better sound and are using a bit pool of 35. The various kits support bit pools of 18 -25. HTC has recently (the last couple weeks) this update as an OTA update. Now I don't know about the other companies but Chrysler has just released a SW update that needs to be performed at the dealership service dept. The TSB # is 08-036-11. The description is to cure Apple products "error occurred"in cabled iPod mode and also their choppy streaming audio when the device back lighting is on. I would suggest that if you have a Jeep, Chrysler or Dodge vehicle and don't have an Apple phone, tell them that you have an iPod touch or they will tell you that the TSB does not apply to you.
I have tested this SW update and it works for the choppy audio on the Samsung Captivate, HTC EVO 4G & Shift, Motorola Droids as well as several other phones.
If you have the Samsung Transform, Epic, captivate (possibly others) and have updated their Android SW to the 2.2, you will experience that the Phone book used to download but now it doesn't. If the PB was already downloaded before the Android update, it may still be there, the problem may be that if you have deleted or added any contacts that they editing won't be changed on the PB that is stored in the HF kit.
Each time you turn the key off & exit the vehicle, when you come back and turn the key on the PB is downloaded and compared to the saved PB to look for any changes that have been made while you were away from the vehicle.

NOW PLEASE NOTE: If you have a Chrysler vehicle and you took it in for the SW Update PLEASE DO THIS (to keep you from being possibly aggravated).

If you do have an Apple product, plug it into the USB connector using the iPod cable, does it work properly? Unplug it, turn the key off, wait a couple minutes and turn the key back on & plug it back in. Does the "error occurred" message come on?
Also now unplug it and pair it up, play the Streaming audio, press the "wake" button so that the back lighting comes on (so you can see the "now playing", album, artist, etc) does the streaming audio now play choppy, ("no", then the update was done properly, "yes" then go back inside and tell them it either wasn't done or it was done improperly)
For those without Apple products:
If your phone was dropping the Bluetooth connection, had choppy audio etc. Try to duplicate the issue you were having and just as above, if the issue is there still go back inside and ask if they are sure that the update was performed properly.
I mentioned this last note because the TSB was released on 6-29-2011, I posted it on a Jeep forum first. There have been a few different people in different states that have taken the vehicle in for the TSB and some were told that it does nor exist however it is on the Chrysler Dealer Connect web site where their techs go for diagnostic steps, schematics, DTC's etc, so they all have it. Also there are some who left their vehicles for it to be done only to drive away with their Apple device working fine but only to be disappointed the next time they use it in the vehicle. The key thing that told me that it was either not being done or done incorrectly was the streaming audio.
I apologize for being so long winded here but I wanted to answer any questions that I thought you may ask while reading this. (and No, I don't think I can read your mind, HAHA JK)

May I ask which BB that you are using and what network is it on.
As for the Epic, if it has Android 2.2 on it, this update messed it up. I have notified Samsung of this and I was emailed last week that they are working on a SW update to cure this. Hopefully they will let me test it for them before the offer it OTA. This is the same thing for the Samsung Transform also.
It was an issue that HTC was having also with the PB download that was causing the BT kits to reset. HTC came out with their 2.3.3 update that cured it.

I just bought a 2012 Durango w/ uconnect. Have EVO 3D (Sprint) The Bluetooth paired fine and phone works fine through Radio. Playing media files, different story. I can play songs, but the player will not pause, stop, or even force close. Every time I force close it the app reloads withing a few seconds and continues playing. I also was able to stream audio from netflix through BT, but music was playing over it. Anyone got any suggestions? I did find how to disable playing media on BT settings. I will use AUX jack for media until I can get this worked out. Thanks

Now what I have seen is:
1) The media player itself does seem to pause and I can play a different audio media (such as Pandora or Slacker radio)
2) If I am playing (ex:) Pandora and go to Netflix and start playing a item there, Pandora does not end and let Netflix play. They seem to ride over each other (you can hear both).
3) If I am playing Pandora and switch to Slacker radio or Sprint radio, this seems to work ok.
4) It seems like issues happen when Netflix is involved (at least at this point).

Aftermore careful testing on this issue, I found that all the audio apps will at times interfere with each other. This issue has been reported to HTC, they have been able to reproduce it as well and they are looking further into it. I will let you know more as I hear from them.

I have an HTC EVO 4G and it connects to the UConnect system in my 2011 Dodge Durango just fine for phone purposes, but when I try to use the Bluetooth Audio feature... the music playback is "sketchy". It sounds like a CD that is skipping... It will play a few seconds of a song quickly, then stop, and repeat this process over and over... Is there anything that I can do to get this to stop? All advice is welcome...

I don't really know what all of this means... Do I need to take my car to a dealership? And if so, does it cost? Have you tried to perform this on your car? Do you know if it will even work? I appreciate the help, but I am still lost...

NOTE :Do not remove the USB memory stick at this point.

7.Wait one additional minute for the HFM to complete the update and reset.
NOTE :In the event of a reflash failure the system will respond with an audio prompt indicating "Digital Signature not recognized" or USB Mass Storage device not compatible". If this should occur, re-prepare the USB Flash Drive using a different USB port on the computer. If this does not resolve the issue use another brand of flash drive.

My wife and I recently upgraded our phones
I have Samsung Galaxy II S
she has Samsung Infuse

Our dodge Vehicles both 2010 models have had problems loading the contacts like our previous BB's did automatically.

I have just a simple cd /Sat radio in my challinger while she has the touch screen version (no nav) in her Ram truck.

On the RAM with the infuse. I paired the infuse with no problem but when she presses the phone on the uconnect it locks up as it acts if it going to download but it doesnt.

The fix: get in and start the vehicle... dont touch the uconnect yet.
look on your phone and wait until the bluetooth shows connection

THEN on your phone
Press MENU
Press SETTINGS
Press WIRELESS AND NETWORK
press BLUETOOTH SETTINGS
press VISIBLE

After a few seconds you contacts will download to the uconnect and u can use the system normally

You must do this each time you get in your vehicle for the INFUSE if I find a way to make it permanent I will let you know with a repost.

The galaxy fix you only have to do one time

On the GALAXY

Get in vehicle
ON YOUR PHONE Pull down the NOTIFICATION BAR from the top

start the vehicle
you should see a item saying uconnect request contacts (or something like that)
ON YOUR PHONE press that notification
a window will come up and say Allow Download? and check the box that says Don't ask again (or make permanent) then click OK

you can now use your phonebook from your galaxy with your uconnect

IF I figure out how to make the infuse fix permanent I will let you know.

I have my 2011 Durango in the shop at this moment for the same issue with my Sprint Samsung Epic 4G touch. Same thing with my Galaxy Tab, Evo 4G and Wife's Epic 4G touch with different radios...they couldn't do anything because my radio is on the latest software version. I consider myself a poweruser of these devices and will figure this one out. Will share my results and experience.

Here you go. This the Uconnect SW update for the 2011 Chrysler, Dodge & Jeep vehicles that have the High Speed CAN BUS network. (wranglers, rams, durangos, liberty, nitro, caravan, grand Cherokee).

Here's the Uconnect update instructions:
Download it to a thumb drive that has no other files on it. If you have files on it, please delete them and format the drive (to FAT32) just to make sure that it is completely clean.
Turn the radio on, Place the thumb drive in the center console USB connector (on vehicles with the dealer installed unit, it should be in the glove box), press and hold the Uconnect button for about 12 - 15 seconds, you should here "update started". This process should take about 15 - 20 minutes, there will be some beeps during the process. Please listen during the update for any error message that may be said by Uconnect. When the update is completed, the radio screen will go back to a radio display. Now plug in your iPhone or iPod and let it be read by Uconnect, does it start playing after being read? COOL:D

Hope this helps you guys (and ladies). This will take care of a lot of streaming audio issues with phones other than IPhone's, the error occurred when trying to use an iPod or IPhone with the docking cable.
