***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I do know I really have no intention of waiting til close to Christmas for this thing at the rate the wait is going. Sure, it wouldn't be considered late til 2012, but using my Droid 2 just gets more depressing as days go bye. So the way I see it, I have the following options:

1) Try to distract myself and make the wait more bearable (as if).

2) Pick up a RAZR if more reviews deem its battery life under heated conditions ok.

3) Get a Vigor (I won't use the Re word) with a spare battery or 3rd-party Seidio extended battery.

4) Hold out til early 2012 for something as yet unknown. (Which brings the risk of my wife and her cousin killing me since I promised her she'd get my Droid 2 soon).

Hmm. Come to think of it, if the Nexus takes til mid-to-late Dec, the wife may kill me anyhow. Argh, decisions, decisions... Tech gods, give me a sign!! :D

It is spelled Virtue. (I would know since it is my last name)

As a person who waited months for the Thunderbolt (only to have it stolen a few weeks ago), I have found myself relatively calm during this release. From what Steven has said regarding the heat of the RAZR, maybe we should be grateful that VZW seems to be trying to get out the kinks before releasing it to the masses.

I can assure you Stevens experience is not normal. The phone would not make it out of testing with a serious heat issue like he explained. I used it for a solid 45 minutes surfing, gaming, downloading, video, text emails etc etc and did not have an issue with overheating at all. The screen was warm but being that the handset is insanely thin that's no surprise. These phone will get warm but excessive heat is not normal.

Phones would not hit the shelves with this issue. Thats one reason the Bionic was canned. Excessive heat.

Friends,

Understand this. The only official word we have from Verizon is that the Galaxy Nexus will come out on Verizon before the end of the year. That's it. Everything else is rumor and speculation. Just because it makes internet tech gossip pages doesn't mean that it's real.

Therefore, as far as Verizon is concerned, there is no delay. The world "delay" cannot apply to a time frame that did not originate from Verizon. The only time frame they gave is the one they are sticking to. It's a wide margin of nearly two months.

Do I want the phone? Yes. Would I like the rumors given by The Source and other sources to be true. Yes, of course. Is it incumbent upon Verizon to live up to the rumors that sources leaked to the internet. Definitely not.

Conclusion. Verizon, thus far, is living up to their word. We have the right to be unhappy about it, but we don't have the right to accuse them of delaying and get all full of righteous indignation. There is none to be had. They did nothing wrong.

They have to protect their interests as well as, yes, believe it or not, ours. Their interest would be to sell as many Verizon bloated phones as possible and ours would be that they get the firmware as smooth and hassle free as possible. It is, after all, a fresh release of an entirely new operating system.

Mangia bene.

Listen to this post because it is intelligent. It also happens to be what I've been saying this entire time. I guess this means I am as intelligent as I originally thought.

*pats self on back* I am awesome :D

The release date bouncing back and forth is not making any sense.
So I would just ignore it for a week and see what happens.

I kind of think that we will hear the real truth on 11-15-11 about the Gnex if not before.

Also, I don't believe that Verizon is the hold up anymore, It may have something to do with FCC, Google, or Supplies....

No release date means it can't be bouncing back and forth.

Burning hot is not normal Steven. Very warm is normal.

Use your device for a good amount of time take off the back cover, Yank out the battery and feel the internals. Guarantee you it will be very warm. Difference is there is a lot of space to dissdissipate the heat before it reaches the shell. With the RAZR its so insanely thin you are essentially just holding the internals with a fancy covering.

Closer you get to the sun the hotter it gets but it doesnt change the temperature of the sun now does it? :)

Yes, you are very correct. But that doesn't mean that it's not frustrating that the phone is out there and supposed to be available "Sometime in November" according to Google/Samsung.

I can't speak for everyone but that's what bothers me most is that there's even that possibility that this thing may just release December 31st just so Verizon can... well be Verizon.

I've been refreshing this forum about 15 times per day and reading this forum ever since the youtube announcement. I am still proudly using my OG Droid. However I am definitely still needing an upgrade and with these "Delays" (sorry Steven!) I cannot afford to keep waiting and waiting and waiting. Just today My battery ran down to 5% by 11am. Granted I was using it pretty heavily, but still.

Therefore, what I am going to do is go to Best Buy on the 11th and buy the Razr around lunchtime. Then I'm going back to work and using the Razr to heat up my lunch. After I use the razr as a heat source, I am going to love every minute of having LTE, a dual core processor, and a much bigger screen. Anyway, the brilliant thing about getting the Razr from Best Buy is that, as confirmed today when I stopped in, I can return the phone anytime within 30 days with $0 restocking fee and still have my upgrade available.

I think you are downplaying this a bit because you obviously have a slight bias. The truth of the matter is as nj and EarlyMon said, Kevlar is very strong insulator, which means very nearly all of the heat generated by the device will have to escape from the front (sides will be negligible because of how small their surface area is) through the screen. On my Incredible, while tethering and overclocking, could push 43-45 degrees Celsius, but given that the plastic back is not as great of an insulator as the Kevlar on the RAZR, heat can escape from all areas on the phone instead of being concentrated just to the front, making it much cooler to the touch than a 43-45 degree RAZR.

Good Idea, I have a Best Buy Silver Rewards I wonder If I get 45 day return on phones?

They promised me a nexus phone two years ago. This has been a very long delay and verizon didn't live up to their word.

With that said, their network is the best and I can't wait for my SGN.

I have been waiting sense June 2, 2011 !!! And this Is coming from a guy who usally updates the same date elgible so this is killing me!!! P.S did i mentioned my current phone soft reboots every 2 days no lie!!!

That's only 5 months, no biggie. I've been holding my upgrade since Nov 2010. Using a p.o.s. BB storm 2!

At first I was like, "I'll wait till CES and see what is new and exciting." That's when I heard about the Bionic. So I said, "I can wait till april-may", then I was like, "okay, july, I'll prolly have it by july." Then it was like Sept and the phone came out finally and I was unimpressed. So by this point I started looking towards the Nexus and haven't looked back. I almost pulled the trigger on the Bionic but I walked away knowing something better was on the horizon.

So here we are. Still waiting with my BB p.o.s. Storm 2. Still. But that's ok because I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's very close now. Weather it's the 17'th or the 21'st or Dec 2nd what's the difference to me at this point? 4 Days, a week, two weeks? So what. It's almost here and we all should appreciate that. Who cares about a day or two in the first place? Secondly, no one here even knows the exact date verizon has set to release the phone anyway. So let's stop with the sky is falling stuff and try and relax for a few weeks. If we stay even keeled this roller coaster of rumors and leaks would be easier to handle.

Whenever it drops I'll be first in line without a second thought and finally our quest shall be over.

Well, to be fair, I would agree with you that a phone would never be released with such a severe problem. Yes. The one phone was warm, the other one was downright hot. That may be a malfunctional phone. I'm going to find out.
