***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

What's the shortest period of time between Verizon announcing a release date and the phone being available in store (or online)? Is there usually a week pre-order time between the announcement and it's store availability?

I wonder when most of the apps I use are going to be ICS ready? Is the Phandroid one going to be ready the day we get the Galaxy Nexus? What about tapatalk, pandora, yahoo fantasy football, slingplayer, iheartradio, audiogalaxy, etc... hmmm....

I can't wait much longer for this phone, all of my family and friends have upgraded over the last couple months and my mom and girlfriend both keep asking when I'm getting a new phone, I keep telling them whenever the G-Nex comes out, they ask when, and I never have an answer. :(

They don't have to announce it at all. It could just appear one day one their website.

I received 27 updates today. Last time received a lot of updates at one time was shortly before gingerbread was released but even that was only 7 or 8 at once.

It shouldnt be too much longer. Don't worry ;)

Hey Guys,

Noob to this forum incoming. I'd just like to thank each and every one of you for all of the input/love/humor within this thread(book).

I'd like to admit that I've probably read more within this thread than I have throughout all of summer reading back in the school days as well as the college days.

I've been the proud owner of a lot (way too many) phones in the past, it's absolutely an addiction (a healthy one of course). Android based I've owned the OG Droid, Droid X, Droid Charge, and Droid 3. I've had a healthy time with other phones as well (D2, D2G, Fascinate, G1, etc, etc) and I must say I've never been so excited for any other release....well maybe the Bionic release, which ended up being an enormous sinking, burning ship in the end (in my opinion)

Either way, keep up the good work, I'll be here...red eyed...exhausted....and procrastinating on "life" until this phone is released.

Thanks again to everyone. (yes I use parenthesis a lot because I always have simultaneous ideas going through my head, mostly due to excitement) :D

Welcome, and excellent first post. We are all extremely excited for this phone, so you are in good company.

Probably 99% of apps will run as they are now on ICS. Doesn't mean they'll be perfect, and that there won't be an occasional outlier, but an app like Phandroid should run just fine.

Both of my apps are already updated for ICS.

The biggest change I had to make (relatively simple apps) was to implement the ActionBar and move the menu from the menu key to the ActionBar up top -- my apps will never have the ICS three dot menu button.

FYI, this is the Action Bar (previewed in Email app)

off topic but whatever happened to the user "NKT"?? he used to be our insider back in the days when we were waiting for the incredible.

does he not leak info anymore?

He fell off the Android Forums map. I tried PM'ing him, but never heard back. :(

Agreed. For me, lack of HD kills it. But I really like everything else about it. I don't really care about locked bootloader or sealed battery.

I have the same issues. Mainly the encrypted bootloader (what an insult to rooters).

OK, follow me on this:

1) The RAZR launches on the 11th, and is the star of the show this weekend, the 12th and 13th. In the mean time, promotional materials for the ReZound are up in the store.
2) Then the ReZound launches on the 14th, and we already have a leak saying that stores can put up promotional materials for the GNex on the 15th. ReZound gets the spotlight on the 15th and 16th, similar timeframe to #1 above.
3) Then, on the 17th....:D:D:D:D

Damn that sucks. His stuff was always reliable and he would provide info often. I wonder what happened?

Also, if a boot loader is encrypted or locked does that mean the phone can't be rooted?

No it does not mean that.

In fact the RAZR has already been rooted (before it was released).

It means you cannot load Custom ROMs or new kernels to the device.

No, it just makes rooting and romming more difficult. You won't be able to use certain custom roms, but you can root.

Motorola Droid RAZR: Not quite thin enough to cut metal (review) | ZDNet

This review from ZDnet says some of the same things I did about the Razr, namely:

1) How hot it gets when streaming 4g (the hotter phone was d/l'ing a large app via 4g),
2) How uncomfortable it is to hold because it's so thin and wide.

My feeling was that if they wanted to make it more comfortable to hold, perhaps they could have rounded the edges a bit. A silicon cover would fix that.

Here's something that might be worth reading that is slightly off/on topic.

Conclusion:

All of the microSDHC cards we tested perform as their vendors advertise. As a result, prospective buyers can be confident in the performance each of these models delivers.

The packaging tells you what class within the SD 2.0 specification your favorite card belongs to, indicating the minimum data transfer rate you can expect from it. We did not find a single performance disappointment. To the contrary, we found one sleeper. Although it's advertised as a Class 4 card, SanDisk's Mobile Ultra microSDHC matches the performance of the Class 10 cards we tests, going so far as to win the sequential read speed metric.

Haha, so like I said, when the VZW guy said I needed to go hold it in response to my question at the Q&A, he was essentially telling me to go find out this^^. :p

When I hear of the Razr I keep thinking of the original Motorola Razr from back in the day. Seemed like everyone had one. I also remember a lot of ladies be-dazzling their phones. How long do you think it will take till people Be-dazzle their Droid Razrs?

Side note I wasn't cool enough to have a Motorola Razr when I was growing up.

I have one I will sell to you if you want to experience it ;):p

What leak stated VZ can put up g-nex promos on the 15th?

I had about 15-20 updates available today, including Google Maps and YouTube... makes me very optimistic in a Nexus announcement very soon. And let's not forget tomorrow is FCC Friday! :)

A bunch of us check the FCC database nightly so if anything popped up in there you will see it here.

FCC Fridays is just a post some blogs do to sum up products submitted to the FCC for the previous week. :)
