Sort of off topic... Phone related... just not the SGN...

Just saw the New Droid RAZR commercial on TV... pretty cool commercial.

Droid Razr "Payload" - Verizon Commercial - YouTube

So I was watching this, and thinking "that looks familiar!!" I go to Facebook and take a look at a friend I grew up with....... This commercial was filmed on Oct 1 in San Francisco!! he was one of the camera men and uploaded a pic of one of those trucks. LOL Just thought it was a cool coincidence.

Exactly, and a major difference between it and the iphone. Hopefully samsung will go more of the iphone's route with the advertising for the nexus. You'd think that the goal of the droid ads are to give fanboys erections and not actually show the capabilities of the phone.

That's why the original Droid campain worked so well, they coyly compared it to the iPhone. Can you phone do this. Can your phone get all the web, can it this, can it that.

While the recent Droid commercials are cool, it does leave you wondering. but perhaps that's all the buying public needs.

Am I the only one who screams at the TV when the iPhone commercial comes on and it tells me if I don't have an iPhone, then it's not an iPhone. Good, I don't want an effen iPhone.

Oh, I know Steven's the James Bond of opera/android.. no question there. Just strikes me as funny/amusing how the beehive gets stirred up when he posts that he's got info.. I can just see all of us sitting on the edge of our seats.

Pavlov's theory proven once again.

Totally off-topic humor - skip if not interested.

Seriously - I don't know how, I don't know why, but I got as far as the word opera and I thought of this. Incredibly, I have not heard or seen this since it came out, but I've never forgotten it - but YouTube ftw. :D :D :D

Vesti - YouTube

I can't figure it out - but somehow - that just resonates with me on Steven and this thread. :D

Hope whoever's watching found it worth the detour.

Not really. The closer you get to the release date, the harder it is to keep it under wraps. More and more people get in the loop. Phones have to be shipped, reps trained, systems updated, etc.

Good point. I'm just a little wary of sources whose information hasn't been proven yet even though what you said makes perfect sense. I'd much rather have proof I can see with my own eyes (release schedule etc) or leaks from a single source whose info has been proven (like THE source). We've just been let down so much I don't want to get my hopes up too much again.

Awww who am I kidding I can't wait!!!

Was that a real commercial?

Guess you didn't have a choice watching stuff when there were only 3 channels.

Actually, outside of a couple of ads touting the iPhone on AT&T's ability to do data and talk on the phone at the same time, for the most part Apple emphasizes everything else the phone does but be a phone. Perhaps because the iPhone is notorious for dropped calls - as bad as AT&T's network is/was, the iPhone was at fault, not AT&T - just look at how the 3g series performed on other GSM networks overseas and how few of AT&T's other phones had these complaints. Take pictures, use apps (especially this.. moreso than any other phone manufacturer Apple touts the apps), play music, Siri, facetime, simplicity of use etc.. I know nowadays a lot of people associate these sort of things with phones but I s'pose being older I still consider a phone to be something I use to talk to someone else far away. The rest of the stuff like internet, apps, etc. is just gravy. Really good gravy though!

The Verizon commercials capitalize on the geek nature of Android I think. They hit the iPhone pretty hard with the Droid Does series for the OG Droid, Eris and Incredible.. now it seems to be about the coolness factor of the phones. Which, honestly, is pretty much what Apple does. Just in a different way, because the iPhone is 'magical'.

Moderation is the key....everything in moderation. ;)

Did you call? ;)

Here we go again ;) (Incredibe days) ;)

Something tells me Steven and the other mods are behind the curtain giggling their tails off every time he posts about having information but it'll be a few minutes. It's like we're cats and dogs and they have a laser pointer...

Pardon, time to hit F5..

Hey... I'm just as much an enthusiast as everyone else here. They talk to me just because I have the badge. I'm no different than everyone else, here.

Amen its good news many thanks to you and the source!

Amen! and you're welcome! I think Source #3 is reading this.

So that's what, *counts on fingers* three separate, independent sources which have all said the 17th? Either misinformation spreads far, or, more likely, and hopefully, in one week we'll be seeing the Galaxy Nexus!!! :D

Exactly why I really am thinking the 17th.

Please repeat - news/date is for Europe or us or what?

Sorry, I got confused about the uncertainty....

This is a Verizon source, so America, baby.

That was a real commercial from the 60s, and yep, it was on one or all of the 3 channels. :) And there were three of them in that operatic series. The other two were Madam Butterfly and Toreador. :)

No lie - I have been singing that tune for 40 freaking years and no one has believed that it came from a commercial, even back then! Just one of those freak things that I saw it. :D :D :D

Oooooooo - Churchill fans - just wait until I find the British bulldog telling you that this is dog chow's finest hour!

NICE!!!:)

Can you ask one of the three next time, "What size is the memory 16GB or 32GB" ?

Thanks, Vandy:D

There was one more thing that Source #3 said that I didn't quote. It answers your question directly.

Source #3 said:
I did not confirm the internal size of memory, unfortunately.

We do have confirmation that it's 32 gb from another source, however. I forget who. Ooops!

Thanks again Steven for the good news!

I would love to offer

to your sources.

I hope your sources are 21 ;)
Who am I kidding, I'd still buy them beer.
How many cops read this thread again? o_O

Well played. I'll take the one on the right. :) If I may, that is. :p

With 3 sources indicating the 17th, my hopes are renewed. But I am trying to be cautious because my heart can only handle so many breaks. My OG Droid has been on a downward spiral for a few months and became totally unusable (screen acts possessed, launches things and presses buttons on its own) a few weeks ago. Since then I have been using my wife's discarded Eris. I need this phone and I won't abandon ship (I would regret a RAZR or ReZound the minute the G-Nex actually launched), but I take these launch date rumors too seriously. If it does launch on the 17th, it looks like we'll have to wait until the 15th at least before we get word from Verizon. So...I'm hoping but trying not to hope too much ;)
