I love this phone!!

I got the HTC Inspire when it first came out (first day). The only thing I didn't like was that there was no front facing camera. So when I heard about the HTC Holiday, I was wondering when that would come out. I just picked up the HTC Vivid (added a line so I didn't have to pay full price on it).

First thing I noticed was how light the phone is and how the display looked. The colors really stood out on it and the display was enough to sell it to me on the spot without playing around with it.

The operating system, 2.3.4, was something I have on my HTC Flyer. Even though I upgraded the OS on the Inspire, it has nothing on it. Everything is very smooth with this phone.

Bonus: I was able to keep my unlimited data plan and upgraded the 4G plan to the 4G LTE with Visual Voicemail.

Accessories: I got the Impact case from Otterbox along with Visor AG *I think that is what it is called - screen protector. I can barely notice it and they put it on the phone for me.

Other things I like: the set up of the messages. It's no longer plain.. and I get these IM messaging text like boxes in color. The camera takes amazing pictures as well. The front facing camera could have better quality, but it still does the job. The 4G symbol does appear and I have not had any connection problems so far. Another thing I just noticed is that when you move between screens, it doesn't stop at left or right. It will let you 'scroll' to the other side so it makes one big circle.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this phone. It is very fast and smooth.

I agree with you. This phone is amazing. I just watched a You Tube video and this phone actually beat the GS2 in the browser speed test!!!! I am loving this phone so much that even after reading that HTC will becoming out with a quad core phone soon I could not care less, I have zero buyers remorse. One thing that I noticed in the video was that when the reviewer was scrolling the endgadget page the Vivid in the video was not quite as smooth as the GS2. When I loaded the same page with flash fully enabled my scrolling was smooth as silk. This is simply a fantastic phone. :)

I'm glad to hear from a couple of people who are totally sold on this phone. It has been less than a week and I'm totally blown away. All of the whiners can just go home, as far as I'm concerned. If you don't like it, buy the Skyrocket or stick with what you've got. There will never be a perfect phone.

I'm seriously impressed with its responsiveness and how it just does what I want it to do. The overall design of the phone is something I'm liking more everyday. I liked it to begin with but saw other people calling it "ugly" and "typical". I'm not sure what they're expecting.. I was blown away with how thin it actually feels compared to how huge the screen is. I like that it feels like I'm holding a thin brick, because it seems like a solid device. I held it next to my brother's iPhone 4, and my girlfriend immediately commented "wow, it makes the iPhone look like a toy!" I like Sense 3.0 a lot, especially for the lock screen. The call quality is crystal clear, despite spotty service in my apartment. There are several other things I could say, but I just wanted to add that I'm as impressed with this phone as you guys!

Pull that Visor AG off that Vivid screen and see how much is truly being lost. The screen was spectacular until the AT&T rep put it on my phone. I was totally unimpressed with the screen the first 2 days I owned this phone. Last night I decided to pull it off the phone and could not believe what I was missing. I am returning the Moshi tomorrow.

Guys are your bottom hardkeys backlt? I just swapped out my Vivid for a new one because i was having data issue with the first phone(still having same issue). I feel like I remembember having the keys baclit on the old phone, but not on the new one..... are your keys backlit or am i just crazy?

And no one else here is having data issues? I cannont connect to the internet with either phone. ATT has no solution for me yet. BB guy said someone had the same issue with the skytocket.

seems like there is a data connectivity issue in some cities at least. intermittent data - but at&t has yet to acknowledge anything. it's happening to too many people with both of their LTE phones in areas that don't have LTE yet to think that we all have defective phones. people have returned phones for replacements with no luck. hopefully this is sorted out soon.

Where are you located? There's a big thread running about the data issue on another forum, and I'm thinking it has something to do with location.

Also, I have noticed that sometimes the capacitive buttons on mine are lit, and other times they aren't! At first I thought it might be a power saving feature, but now I'm not so sure.. Okay, I just did a restart on my phone and the capacitive buttons are still not backlit... Not good

Edit: I just did a Google search of this and it turns out it is a power saving feature.. Try taking your phone in a very dim, or even totally dark, room and bring it out of standby. Does the backlight come on for the buttons? Now, take it into a well lit room and watch it turn back off...

Yesa. I see now that the backlight is working. Not sure how it decides when to or not to work.

Interesting that the att guy I am working with said he personally has not heard any other reports of data issues. If there is a big thread about data issues with the new LTE phones point me in the right direction, and then maybe i can turn him onto it when he call me back tomorrow. We have gone through some simple tests first. He has asked me to try my sim in another hspa+ phone, which I will do tomorrow to see if it works propely. I am also going to try the sim card from my wifes atrix in the phone and see what happens.

One of the guys at BB said he had a guy come in with the same issue with the skyrocket. Said he talked to someone at ATT and found out there seems to be a compatibility issue with the unlimited DATA plans, and that for that customer they put them on the 2mb plan for 5 days, which at the end of those 5 days would convert back to unlimited, which should then work right. Unfortunatly when we called up noone at ATT had any knoledge of any of this.

Besides all that, lovin the phone. Im not sure what these skyrocket guys are talking about. The screen on this thing is fabulous and I chose it over the skyrocket.

How can i turn of the vibrate for each keystroke on the keyboard? When i start tying fast it seems to not keep up, causing me to think ive missed a key. Id like to turn it off and conserve battery as it seems this batter does not hold up all that well. With the screen up high it really sucks it down.

Anyone here of a possible extended battery yet, or the posibility of a dock?

The backlight uses an ambient light sensor to turn itself off an on.

I honestly think it's a network issue. Here's the thread I was talking about: Inconsistent Data Connection - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com.

It makes a lot of sense, if Skyrocket users are experiencing the same issue, for it to be related to the LTE network and these phones not communicating properly. I say LTE because I'm in an HSPA+ covered area and I have no issues with websites not loading, data connections, or anything else people have mentioned. Now, I also believe it could be related to the new LTE networks that AT&T launched on Sunday with the release of the phones. I've read through every page of that thread, and a couple of others, and I haven't seen anyone from Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, etc. chime in yet. In fact, a guy from Houston piped up in one forum that he had experienced great speed and no issues on a grandfathered unlimited plan. So maybe it's something with the new cities, because a lot of the people are saying they're in Baltimore or D.C... I'm sure that AT&T is now well aware of the problem.

To turn off haptic feedback go: Settings>Language and Keyboards>Touch Input>Text Input>Vibrate when typing

I'm sure extended batteries will be on the way soon, as will a quiet, under the radar fix for this data issue. But for now, I'm completely satisfied with this beast.

Honestly, I don't mind the screen protector. I saw what it was like before I got the phone because I went straight to it. But I like the feel of the it LOL
it's very smooth to touch.
