***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Maybe off topic, but since I've mostly been obsessed with reading this thread figured I'd post here.

Waiting for the Galaxasaurus Nexy has been hard...

So, I jumped on the phone to Verizon and got an order in early for the Rezound and it arrived yesterday.

After moderate/heavy usage (its my new toy so probably I should just say heavy) my battery got to 21% when I plugged it in to sleep. It lasted 10 hours 14 minutes. Always on 4g.

Frankly, I'm a little stunned by how decent that battery life is! I honestly just got the Rezound to play with until the Nexus came out... but I'm really digging this phone!! Help talk me out of keeping it (or maybe don't?)!

Ahh ok lol. It looks a lot like this one thought it might be, but since your on MIUI I don't think it is.
Ahh yeah, a CM theme...I have had MIUI for awhile now, but normally run LauncherProPlus on top of it, but I switched back to the default launcher, and it is taking some time to adjust to the no app drawer style of homescreens. Not sure if I am diggin it.

Hey, keep the Rezound. That's one more GNex for us! :p

Congrats on your new Rezound glad to hear a report of good battery life on one. Play with a Nexus in-store when available then decide which one you want :)

Yeah I'm definitely going to play with a Nexus. I'm probably still leaning towards the GNex because I do want the pure Google experience. Although, I've never had an HTC before so Sense is new to me.

Basically, having played with a Razr in the store - the only real, possible alternative to the Nexus is the Rezound. Razr screen looks like a Bionic next to the Rezound.

Still want (to at least try) the Nexus tho, stupid wait! :(....:p:D

Morning everyone! I'm sitting at Just Tires waiting for my car to get its oil changed and tires rotated. Jumped on here to see if BMX had posted his masterpiece but nothing, oh well.

So last night we went out with some friends and one of them had the RAZR! He said that he was really happy with it, but that the battery seemed to wear down quickly (although I don't know what his habits are). I played with it for about 10 minutes or so, and handling it without it being tied down to a table at the store was different.

His screen got a little warm, but nothing terrible. I did notice the screen had a little bit of a green tinge to it unless it was on max brightness. But the one thing that stood out to me was that despite its marketing image of tough and strong, it seemed a little flimsy. But I think that impression had more to do with how thin it is than anything else. 4G is blazing fast.

I guess my point is that I was able to get my razr fix, and now I'm good. I don't feel I'm missing out by waiting for the SGN.

And that was on the standard battery?? That's impressive. And bears looking into more, possibly. That's good to know. In the unlikely event the G Nex isn't what I hoped for (very doubtful), that could be another option. Looking forward to hearing more battery life reports when reviews come fast and furious next week. Perhaps htc DID learn from the Tbolt and made some kind of tweaks.

Acutally I think BMX posted his poem but took it down:

There once was a Panda from Nantucket,
Who pulled release dates out of a bucket.
When his followers realized he didn't know squat
They left him a lot,
and now he's back in a zoo saying F*** it

(Yes, of course I know he knows a lot, but just not the most important thing -- the release date. This is all in jest am I'm grateful for the info he does provide)

Yeah standard battery.

Perhaps there is something to the whole faster to idle theory?
Also, I believe the Snapdragon S3 in the Rezound (while not as good as the 4460 overall) has some battery saving 5th core thats clocked lower? Someone correct me if I'm not remembering that right...

Anyway, if the Nex disappoints, I'm going to keep the Rezound. So far I'm pretty happy. If the Nex is what I think it is, I'll return for the pure Google experince.

I really hope Nexus comes out Thursday... we're losing people!

Not to say that RAZR and ReZound don't rock: they're great phones for what they do. But IMHO Nexus will blow them both away.

I hope

I hope this baby drops soon. I expect we'll hear more after the Rezound launches.

I have gone into lurking recently... have been a little frustrated with the handling of this release and didn't want to bring that vibe here.

I just texted a store manager in my area (I talked to him when I went in to see the Bionic, he seemed very knowledgeable about Android and gave me his card that had his cell number on it).

Anyway, even though it's a corporate store I never called him because I figured my sister would know more than him. But as I said, I just texted him asking about sgn release and he said he doesn't know but that they just got a shipment of accessories for it so should be soon!

Plus you have to answer questions/riddles or something not just follow them

too much work I'm lazy :/

Me too. And I hate essays

So we went out this afternoon and bought a gallon of lactose free milk. Expiration date is 12/21.

I turned to my wife and said, "I can't believe it! I will have the Nexus before this milk goes bad! "

She shook her head and said, "You really need your life back. "

Non geek wives can be so...well...grounding! Darn it!

I wouldn't have some that. Lol.

Hey everyone. Just got caught up. So unfortunately, real life still moves on, and I have to make an unexpected trip to MN to attend my grandmothers memorial, as she passed today. I hope you don't mind if I stick around, because hanging out here is a very fun part of my day, and she wouldn't want me moping around being a bump on a log.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss.

Allright peeps, til tomorrow...

Can someone post the bard's poetic opus once it's available?

Thanks in advance, a free nexus to whoever does it!

:)

P.S: can we please get smiley buttons and a night mode on the freaking app!?

Okay, nighty night.

Night mode = using app called Screen Filter. Works wonders for me at night. Not as good as a night mode but passably usable

Waiting for news of the Nexus
Big red continues to vex us
As other phones reign
We suffer in pain
Like blows to the solar plexus

By far my favorite one!

I guess I'm glad I'm out of the country until the 21st. Hopefully the GNex will be out by then so I won't be tempted by the RAZR or Rezound.

BTW, I'm currently in Hawaii enjoying the last few hours of 11/11/11 before going farther westbound..

:p:p:p (that's for being in Hawaii )

It will be!!!!!!!!

Good morning all. I love having 5 1/2 pages to catch up on. Lol. Hope everyone is having a good Saturday morning and that you are taking advantage of the sun shining (at least here in north jersey)

WOO HOOOOO!

More & more stores are getting accessories. I'm tempted to go pick them up just to have them to hold and smell the vinyl and fondle them and pretend there's a Nexus in them...

Geeez we either need a Nexus release or professional help! :p

What is your meaning of moderate and heavy usage? would give us a better picture.

No companion core in the S3. The reason it saves juice is because it runs the two cpu cores at different speeds and despite what Nvidia publishes that's an advantage that the S3 has that the A9 Cortex does not.

As far as not as good as the 4460 overall - that will have to remain to be seen and how you use things. The S3 at 1.5 GHz cpu benches out the same as the Exynos at 1.2 GHz, so while not as efficient per clock, it's plenty efficient to get the job done. I think there may be an edge to the media processing on the OMAP4 - but for practical benefit, all I can say is that the S3 can support _real_ 3D just fine, so it's not like a total dog.

I posted earlier that I had battery concerns on the Rezound, but your experience matches my phone if scaled. I was getting 18 hrs/50% battery at 1.2 GHz, light/moderate use, and easily go a full day with room to spare running moderate/heavy at 1.5 GHz -but with a smaller screen.

What really impresses me is that evidently Verizon's config of the Rezound did NOT end up borking it. I've been a broken record that what Verizon HTC users see and experience is not necessarily shared by the rest of us.

I'll be interested in your feedback after you've owned the Rezound for a while and then get to check it side by side with the Gnex! :) :)

If you do, post pics! I have a feeling that they're getting them in, but not actually putting them on shelves yet. They're probably just sitting there in the back until the SGN comes out.

I was tempted to ask him if I could take a look at them, but that sounded super dorky even to me, so I refrained.

So I spent majority of yesterday playing in a VA charity poker tournament. Moving from table to table and talking with so many veterans was a lot of fun. The support that people showed, even those that didn't know a thing about poker was incredible too.

The really interesting thing (to me anyway) was how many people had smart phones. Everyone was getting texts and calls during the tournament, which is normal, but the overwhelming majority had smart phones. It was about 50/50 Android to iPhone, but I did see a few BalckBerries, a WP7 here or there and a Pre.

So, I've got an ICS launcher on my phone and during the course of the day I had 6 different people ask me if I had the Galaxy Nexus. Not, "That new Google phone." or "The Nexus" or "The Galaxy", but "The Galaxy Nexus". I was a little surprised. The first time I considered it a fluke, but by the sixth I was really surprised. I typically don't expect the average person to know or care what phone I have. I've had a ton of people ask me if my Galaxy S is an iPhone. It just shocks me that 6 different random people noticed my phone and knew what a Galaxy Nexus was. I talked with two guys about ICS for a while too. They all sound really excited about the phone.

Maybe we aren't the only ones looking forward to this phone.
