Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

xda forums grind my gears right about now  I wanted to ask a question before flashing a new rom, a question specific to the new build that had just been released today, not a general "imma noob, how do I do this?" question, ok, well I get a redirected to a snotty page about how I can't post in a development thread b/c my post count is too low-OK, maybe we wouldn't have ppl messing up there phones if, I don't know, they could ask questions?! Besides, for ONE, it said I had to have 10 posted to reply...the person that had last posted in that thread had a post count of 6. Last I checked, 6 is less than 10. For TWO, my 2 lowly posts that apparently mark me as a noob, had NOT been posted in a "Q&A" thread like they told me I had to post in, but in a thread for a theme (which may or may not be considered development, I don't know, but still). And really, is the line about "the question you were about to ask has probably already been asked, you should read first" (paraphrasing) really neccessary? Who are they to say what I was going to ask was already asked? who are they to assume that just because I didn't join up on their boards the minute I got a smart phone and start posting away that I can't read a forum or ask intelligent questions? No offence meant to the xda mods or whoever comes up with this stuff, I do enjoy the subject matter of the boards there, just not to in love with the presentation right now. I was a noob once (still am about some things), which is why I specifically DID NOT start posting there (or trying to) until recently-everyone here is MUCH nicer and MUCH more tolerant, and for that I say thank you. and now i'm just rambling, so Im going to shut up and go make some mindless chatter posts somewhere at xda so I can ask my question that apparently has already been asked, if only I was smart enough to find it....sheesh:rolleyes:

('scuse the term, but OMFG! I answered a question on their "off topic/say HI" thread, and now I can't post my actual "saying HI to get my post count up" post, because I have to wait 5 minutes between posts....madness! gears are beyond...ground?..at this point)

+1 billion!!!! I totally agree about everything you said about XDA.
I completely spammed their requisite 10 posts just so I could say thanks to one of the devs. The rest - screw 'em - there is some good info over there but I'm so turned off by their Holier Than Thou attitudes that I only go there if my Google search sends me.

*whew* glad im not the only one! And they wonder why ppl lurk and don't post! I mean really...come on, do you want ppl to participate or not? you can have a forum filled with great ideas from brilliant devs, but without normal ppl who don't go around posting like crazy for fear of getting snark-ed to death, what good is it to anyone? They all need to visit our forums here and learn how to play nice :p

And they apparently didn't learn when they had a whole slew of dev's leave and stop updating their rom's on the xda site. *smh*

But no, you are not alone in the way you feel

Why can't size 28 jeans stay 28 across all brands?

Right!? Soooo love being a size 14 in one brand and a size 8 in another, it does such great things for the self esteem, picking up the smaller size first an not being able to get a leg in. Also makes shopping for clothes online impossible, or at least reeeeally inconvenient

Sales reps that don't know their products really grinds my gears. I went into my local Verizon Wireless store today to check out the new Rezound. It was around 2pm and they didn't even bother to put the phone on display yet. After giving it back to the rep, she asked me what I thought...and I told her that I liked the Rezound better than the RAZR. She asked why and what I thought was better. I first mentioned that the screen was 720p resolution whereas the RAZR isn't. She replied, "but the RAZR has 1080p". At which point I had to explain to her that the RAZR's camera is capable of shooting in 1080p as well as the Rezound, but it's SCREEN resolution was not the same resolution.

It frustrates me because I've been trying to get a job with Verizon and I see many reps and managers that are not that good and/or incompetent. I was supposed to have an interview a few weeks ago for a store manager position and the guy never called me to conduct the interview. After calling him 10 minutes after the scheduled interview and leaving him a VM, he called back stating he got tied up, needed to check his schedule to setup another date and time, and would call me back. He never called me back. I left him another VM after the weekend, following Monday. He still never called me back. I was dropped two weeks later from HR as a candidate because it stated I could not be reached for an interview. I later found out from my brother that this guy reported back to HR that I was 30 minutes late for the interview. This guy has got me mixed up with another candidate or is flat out lying about me. Either way, he's incompetent and shouldn't even be interviewing candidates.

Idiots who jeapordize their own kids health and the health of the general populace by refusing to vaccinate their kids. Just saw a story on G+ about a lady who argued that not vaccinating her kid was a freedom of religion issue. The court refused to hear the case after lower courts said that religion doesn't matter in public health issues (which is true). Prompted a heated debate with one guy rolling out the "vaccinations are evil" crap that keeps floating around and had been completely and thoroughly debunked. Why do people believe this crap?

Thanks

Yeah getting told I have said things about someone at work which I didn't and yet I'm always the one who gets called to the office about it when I said nothing

No problem ;)

I went through that a few months ago. Got cornered by two girls yelling at me wanting to know why I named them by name to the supervisor about them taking so many breaks during work. I I looked at them and said I don't even go up to the front office unless they call me as I keep to myself. I I then told them furthermore how could I name you by name when I don't know your names.

So I feel your frustration.

A google group admin .
Basically ,the CM porter of my phone has created a google group for the entire phone .
Since he cant maintain a group himself he passed on the admin/mod rights to another guy .
The guy basically has deep hate for me for some reasons since my builds are shitty for some reasons.Fair enough .(The first builds werent good but they were decent )
So he has made it clear that the group will only support stock roms and cm . Mine has a thread on page three somewhere down where they can post doubts .

He has three rules about english in six rules (Ironically spelling mistakes in his rules ),fourth rule for ETA( legitimate ),fifth for off topic restrictions (legitimate) ,sixth rule claiming rules I feel are good apply (Wow) .

new users rarely navigate to page three .
So if even the user mentions my rom ,he gets a warning .
If he mentions overclock ,he gets a warning ,
If he types ur instead of your ,he gets a warning
Bad grammer ,he gets a warning
Say "I am a noob ,please guide me " ,gets a warning .
Today it was ridiculous .the user asked how to flash stock gingerbread .Just because he mentioned he was using my rom on froyo he was banned .
I withdrew from the discussion last week .
Though I used to support questions and troubleshooting regarding CM and CWM ,I pulled out last week directing users to group
The dev is a decent chap who comments on the blog about his releases and also notifies in other forums about our releases .
The mod is just a troll with too much power IMO .

Damn long rant . :D
