Walmart had a special and I thought I would pick up a couple for my kids to use. But I opened one up and so far do not like what I see..
Barnes and Noble is not loaded..anywhere. I tried to download the app from the B&N site and it wouldn't install.
All i have really been successfull at doing is searching the web. While my kids might like that feature, I really want them to be able to use it to access their text books and such..
So, Is ANYONE happy with their PanDigital Novel....why or why not....any tips on getting it up and running properly?

I have a call out to the tech support, but really want to know if I should return these or if they are worth keeping.

I bought mine at HHGregg about a month ago and have enjoyed it for the most part. There was a piece of paper inside the box that stated, "Before using your Pandigital Novel, go to the website and update your device with the most current firmware" well, I did that and can't open the file or it won't open on it's own. I don't want to sound idiotic by asking if you downloaded the current firmware onto the PDN but was that one of the first things you did beside charge it? I've sent two emails to Pandigital customer service department and haven't gotten anything back. My next step is to call today and cross my fingers. I've done a ton of searching on the web about how to fix the issue and have found some people saying there's 'bugs' in the system among other things.

I'm ready to give it a toss but maybe someone can help us out?

Thanks

I got mine for $69.00 with free shipping, at Christmas. If I used it ONLY for an ereader, I'd be tickled to death. I did the Pandigital update/hack, and it's even better! It's not lightning fast, but for the money, it's a pretty good little toy. Since I don't have one of those fancy talking phones, this will be more than enough for me to learn the Android way of things until I can upgrade. if nothing else, you can download tons of apps and games.

I've gotten decent use out of it as a comic book reader as the screen is larger than my phone's and you don't need a lot of computing power to just display images. The screen can be incredibly unresponsive at times and I've actually had more lucking using a pencil's eraser end as a stylus than I have using my fingers. The WiFi is inconsistent. None of the variants of the OS seem to make the device any good. I don't expect to make this thing run like an iPad, but some basic things working correctly would be nice. It will always have a place in my heart though because it was my first Android device and made my transition from dumb phone to Android-powered smartphone a lot easier because I knew where everything was already.
