The Oprah crowd will buy the Kindle Fire

After posting in another thread, it just dawned on me that the Oprah crowd will be all over the Kindle Fire.

It does what the Kindle does, but more. Remember that the Kindle was a huge success with the Oprah crowd. Also it's just the right size to fit in your purse.

The Kindle Fire is aimed at the Oprah crowd and all non-techy users. It will sell well to that group.

Also, the Kindle Fire is great for kids. It's price right, so that you don't have to worry about the kid breaking it. Also, it does what kids want to do, play grames, read, watch movies and listen to music.

This could possibly hurt the sales of this device among real Android enthusiasts, though.

Then again, Honeycomb tablets haven't done superb anyway. I feel like we aren't that big of a crowd.

Very true and it's real sad to see some people that don't realize this and complain on the internet to no avail.

If Oprah was still doing her show, she'd be giving out Kindle Fires to everyone in her audience on tomorrow's episode.

Obviously I know who Oprah is. I was refrring to the term "Oprah Crowd". Is that supposed to be an insult? I'm a professional "tech" and I ordered the device for my own personal use. I see it as alternative to an Ipad. I like to play games, read, watch movies and listen to music and I'm not a kid. All of my "techy" stuff is what I use my PC for.

Of course the term "Oprah Crowd" is intended to be an insult. The lack of maturity, that characterizes the online tech community all too often, is clearly illustrated here. You see, if you are less "tech savy" than these very sophisticated Android Forum participants, then you are one of "them" and suitable only for flaming. Watch the comments that follow this reply...

Its just the same thing as the hardcore linux and mac users saying that windows is for lamers. They dont like something so they feel that putting it and everything that likes it down allows them to feel like they are bigger. or something. never quite figured them out.

I bought a KF and I don't think ive ever even seen an oprah episode but call me part of the oprah crowd if you want. Wont hurt my feelings.

Yeah. I was hoping that this forum would be primarily for people who have bought the Fire and want to optimize their experience. Instead, it's about justifying why someone would buy one, all the things it doesn't do, etc. I knew what it couldn't do going into it. And, yes, I've never sat through an episode of Oprah, either.

I know it's difficult for some people here to grasp, but there are actually a number of folks who already have enough hobbies, diversions, and other things to do with their time besides screw around flashing roms, and don't really care about live wallpaper and stuff like that, and are happy to just use the device as its intended. And guess what? That doesn't necessarily make them idiots or technophobes - they just might, believe it or not, have better things to do.
