***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

He's probably excited because he now has confirmation from the source and a vzw rep that it will be released by mid-December. I mean, it's not a firm date, but at least it's a corroborated end point in sight.

The 3rd and the 10th and the 17th and the 21st were all "corroborated" as well. It's such a BS storm.

Why do we trust Steven's source. Wasn't it 2 days ago that they "confirmed" the 17th?. . . .
No, he didn't confirm it, just said that it he hadn't heard anything different. Since we don't know what department he works in, that could mean anything.

. . . .
With the way most of you are talking, I actually feel bad for Verizon. They are in a no win situation with everyone.
I love you, OTD, but no. Just no. Who's in a more no-win situation? The giant uber-company that cares NOTHING for customers except for what's in their wallets and is willing to release garbage phones (Bionic) knowing that the real Moto flagship device (RAZR) was just around the corner, and could care less if Bionic owners felt cheated or not?

Or the customers who not only have to pay an arm and a leg above what other carriers charge, but also have to deal with less-than-ideal phones, have to pay the LTE premium even if they're not in an LTE area (Verizon could learn a lesson from AT&T's pricing strategy on that, but they won't because they're too busy robbing us), and have to suffer through botched release after botched release?

If Verizon would even own up just a little and communicate something along the lines of "we're working on it, here's the release date, but we'll try to get it out sooner" or "there are some technical issues we're working through, but hang in there" or anything to that effect, it would be something. But they (based on the Love Tunnel's info) wouldn't even confirm they were going to carry it until they got a million nasty emails on a Friday evening. When you tweet them questions about it, they say "Oh, sign up on the page!" as if that was the holy grail of answers and would put us at ease (I signed up for the Rezound and still haven't gotten an email on that one).

They're morons who know nothing about public relations and care nothing for their customers. I think we're being nicer than necessary, actually.

Okay, rant over. (Actually, not directed at you, OTD, more at the Verizon universe. Hope you got that.)

Granted, I'm not in the same situation as you (with a dying phone), but here is why I will not give in and pick up either the Rezound or Razr:

What if Verizon, in its infinite wisdom, delays the phone even further...beyond the 1/9/12 deadline for returning? Then what? I'm stuck with a phone I don't want for 2 years. As irritated as I am with this whole cluster-you-know-what, I'm still gonna tough it out. If I were in your shoes, I'd be calling my sister to send me one of her hand-me-downs so I would have it on hand to last me until whenever this phone finally comes out.

I'm sorry, I just can't deal with a Blackberry. It's just not happening.

I can do 1 of 2 things. One, I can return it on the 8th and just deal with my OG Droid and see what comes up at CES two days later (I think by then I'll be so bitter about SGN I won't buy it unless it's under $200.) Or two, I'll just sell it for $350 on CL or Ebay and pay the difference on a non-subsidized version, if there's nothing better (and unlocked) coming down the pipeline.

If this is the case, then everyone who gives in and buys one of the other two handsets are basically giving in to the child having a temper tantrum. Personally, I wish everyone who wanted the SGN would just stay strong, not buy one of the other phones, and send a message to Verizon. Otherwise, they get the positive reinforcement they need to justify their little game. If you genuinely want the Rezound or Razr, then that's different...but if you really want the SGN, there's no better way to let Verizon know that than to hold out. :)

Yep, good point. As much as I hate to wait it out without a firm release date, like I said my phone is still behaving nicely so I am not in a huge rush to get a new device. Of course, there are a lot of folks in this thread who have failing/dead devices, so I can totally understand their angst.

I agree with this, but I have the Orig Droid and I have to take the battery out at least 2 times a day. I am so sick of this slooowww phone and don't know if I can hang on any longer.

Exactly. Those with phones that are limping I know have it much harder than those of us who are just ready to move on.

I agree that they should get the phone right, but some kind of information and transparency at this point would go a long ways.

How many Rezound and RAZR returns are they going to experience because of their non-communication?

This is the thing I find most interesting. The longer they wait the more apt alot of us are to go pick up a RAZR or Rezound, use it for a month and then return it. It's a proposition that will inevitably lose VZW a ton of money and could be minimized with a simple press release.

Granted, we are a rather vocal minority who would do this, so maybe the numbers really don't effect BIG Red.

I'm so upset with verizon I am not buying a rezound or razr to spite them as someone just mentioned I am WAITING for what I WANT, since I am giving them MY MONEY

The more I think about this, the more entertaining my impressions of the ineptitude of VZW decision makers becomes. Lets not release a third phone until well after most are expecting it, BUT lets go ahead and extend return timeframe so they can all get a phone now only to return it when we eventually release the phone they REALLY want. And we aren't releasing the one they really want for "Corporate Reasons" rather than any particular issue with the phone.

Basically sounds like they want us to go pick up RAZR's or Rezounds and then return them when the Nexus is out as they have some eyes on $35 return fees and lots of return stock to accept back.

Well, google/samsung did say in the launch conference the phone would be out in the US in November, they just didn't say on which carrier. Doesn't look like any other carrier will have it this month. So, really, while technically it should be google/samsung with egg on its face if it doesn't come out, Verizon's strategy of not committing to the same time frame is not going to save them from the wrath of customers.

I don't think they specified the USA for a November release though.
